I remember one day DD1 was planting some bedding plants when a bee kept trying to land on her. She said to it "I'm not a flower, but thank you for the compliment!" and it buzzed off
Glad DH was better today maryb. The few days after all the anaesthetic's worn off are usually the worst xx
You okay, nursemaggie and mar?
Hester I hope you have a good torch! We don't want you falling into the cut or tripping over a tree root
Forgot to say I didn't manage the digging in the end, I realised I was just too achy already. Still, I did wash some jumpers and do the washing-up, so at least I did something.0 -
Chin up maryb, this last week has been such a rush of emotions for you. Funny how the small things catch us eh?0

Go away massa bee,
Don't you come here.
This ain't no dainty rose,
Only my nose.
Get off me nasal organ,
I'll show no fear.
If you want honey,
Go away sonny.
You won't find any honey here,I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
My OH in a better mood today, able to walk round the park with me and the dogette. He has suggested we have a barbecue next weekend, inviting the neighbours as well as his son and family who will be visiting. So, looks like it's party time in Chateau Nargle next Saturday, us two, our DS, visiting son, daughter in law and two sons, neighbours and their two daughters - that's seven adults, four children and our loopy dog. Looks like I've got some shopping and cooking this week! Just need lovely weather, it is forecast cooler but sunny so fingers crossed.
The following week we go back to the hospital to get his biopsy results (Friday 18th), so more finger crossing. At least once we know the plan we will be able to look ahead and plan a short holiday, hopefully in the little Lake District Cottage we stayed at last month. One life - your life - live it!0 -

Oh and glad to hear that Mr MaryB is feeling so much better as well!Must use my stash up!0 -
Awww (((HUG))) you and I seem to be very much alike in some ways; I often write a post, re-read it, think "nah, I can't post that" and delete it.

See, maybe this is what makes you and Silver-Oldie more intelligent. I look at my post, think that and then click post anyway
Hugs MaryB. You're doing better than I would. To my shame, after considering your post, I haven't driven in more than 10 years, don't even know how to look at our bills (like a Victorian household, he takes care of those) and frankly rely on him to take care of emergencies I can't mentally deal withMight be worth me tackling a few of those things. In any case, you're doing fantastically just keeping most of your ducks in a row, I'm not surprised you feel weepy it's been a heck of a shock.
On the bee subject, on this occasion I prefer the Australian native bees. They're fun to watch, tiny, you can see the pollen load up on their little bee legs and most importantly of all, they're stingless.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Oh Mary, what a palaver!
I pride myself on being a good driver of over 35 years. I can reverse into tiny spaces, happily travel miles on motorways, have been known to offer to help other drivers get up snowy hills, etc etc but .....
I got a new car about 5 years ago, took it to get fuel and could not undo the locking fuel cap. I tried for a while, realised i had no chance and swallowed my pride and asked the guy at the next pump. I was mortified and I was really annoyed that it gave a bloke the chance to be sexist (although he was very pleasant, I bet he told everyone how useless this woman was!). Anyway, I got over it and now I can share my humiliation to make others feel better
ETA - I love anyone's rambling posts. I find you all so interesting, informative, funny, and down to earth. Keep 'em coming!!
Oh, yes, I have been able to open the filler cap every time since, now I have the knack. DH struggled with it last week though :rotfl:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
I love bees! They will 'bump' you if you are in their way a nearly always respond to being spoken to (I always talk to them anyway) Many years ago I seem to remember reading something that said the bees have to be told of any important news. They didn't say much when I told them about President Trump thoughSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I'm fine ivyleaf Been busy helping DS pack. It is a struggle to get space to put the boxes. DS's bed almost fills his room but he has managed to get a lot of boxes round the bed. They are in the living room now. We will be out most of tomorrow. He moves on Wednesday morning then I will be on my own.0
