Maryb all good wishes for your DH today; hoping it all goes smoothly.

FPK calm vibes on their way. How I cope with blood tests (I too tend to faint) is I insist on lying down, and take a few minutes to "mentally detach my arm at the shoulder" so that it is no longer a part of me, so to speak. I have major issues with physical contact with strangers, and this gets me past that.
I then have to take a few minutes afterwards to "reattach the arm" but the medical bods just think I'm taking longer than average to recover from the experience.
Good luck; they're probably just "dotting the i's and crossing the t's" so to speak. ;)

Monna no smarta$$ replies from me today - I nearly cried when I read your thought for the day, as self-loathing is something I battle with constantly. It's why I struggle so much with "me-time" (I always feel I'm wasting time and ought to be doing something useful) and why I can't even buy myself a packet of P0l0 mints without feeling immensely guilty. :(
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

What lovely replies, especially from Softstuff and nursemaggie, for FPk! i'm glad your DH will be able to go with you, FPK, even though it means waiting a bit longer ((HUGS))

Well, I've made a start on the clothes decluttering (just taking a break, will finish after lunch) and have come across a lovely pair of denim-effect linen wide leg trousers, which I obviously haven't worn for ages as I'd forgotten I had them. On holding them up against me, I realised why I haven't been wearing them - this brand of trousers is always too long for me and every pair I've ever bought has needed taking up 2 - 2.5 inches. I must have not been well enough to sew at the time I bought them, so I probably have worn them a few times with them trailing on the ground. Wide leg trousers trailing on the ground are apparently very "in" this season, though I don't tend to go to the sorts of places where it doesn't matter if they trail on the ground.....

They are really lovely replies, thank you.

As for the trousers, it is sometimes hard to pin them on yourself. Last time I did it I spent ages looking in the mirror and asked OH if they were straight...he wasn't much help.

Too right it is a problem pinning them up. I bought two pairs a few months ago of identical trousers, just one black and one navy. One pair fits perfectly the other is two inches too long. They are both the same size. I still have not shortened the long ones.

I must admit I usually just measure the leg length and take both legs up the same amount, on the grounds that it's unlikely anyone will look at my feet for long enough to notice if one trouser leg comes further up my shoe than the other :o

I tried on the ones I found earlier and decided that although they fasten all right, they're a bit snug round the derriere, so someone else can have the pleasure.

I also unearthed a very nice trouser suit which used to be my work meeting and singing-at-weddings-and-funerals-outfit (I'm in my church choir.) The label says it's size 18, but 18 was a bit smaller when I bought it. Realistically, if I did lose enough weight to wear it again, I'd probably be a different shape from 15 or so years ago and it wouldn't look as good as it used to. So the charity shop can have that too. It was a bit dusty around the collar where the gap in the suit carrier was, so it's having a wash atm, along with a nice moleskin skirt I won't wear again.

Well Floss, it's a jolly good thing he has such a helpful wife :A

Just had an indignant call from DD1, who arrived in the voting booth and realised there was no one on the ballot paper she was (relatively) happy to vote for. She had a choice of Conservative, Labour, and one BNP candidate!
She had wanted to vote for someone/a party that was against Brexit. In the end, to show her feelings, she drew an extra box at the top, wrote "Lib Dem" beside it, and put a X in it.

FairyP. Who was it on here quite recently who was sweating on the top line about being called back somewhere for something and it turned out to nowhere near as bad as she had thought?
When it comes to having any sort of procedure I do a LameWolf-ish sort of thing. First I very consciously relax every bit of me. Then I close my eyes and mentally take myself to another place. I suppose you could call it self-hypnosis. It always works for me because I'm simply not aware of what is going on. My mind doesn't belong to my body. I've probably described it very badly but for me it works. If I tell you that on one famous occasion I went to sleep in the dentists chair................

My mind has been full of maryb today, so, it appears, have a lot of people's on here. I think that it is beyond wonderful that a disparate group of people who wouldn't recognise each other if we passed in the street, can grow so close that when one is worried or suffering all the rest suffer with them. I often curse the internet but in this case it is the most amazing invention ever.

LW, I loathe and detest the cliche, "I feel your pain" but in your case I really do. So much so that I would cheerfully batter with a blunt instrument whoever it was that has made you feel that way about yourself.
I know that we don't share the same faith, but I do know that whoever or whatever caused this universe to be, that threw billions of stars across the sky, that formed mighty oceans and towering mountains, thought that it was important that there should also be one of you.
Please believe that you are very precious and unique. There isn't one person in the cosmos that can fill your place because no one else can be you.
Now go and buy a whole carton of Polos and scoff them all yourself, repeating as you do, (horrid slogan alert) "Because I'm worth it. Because you are, you really really are.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.
