FPK, it needn't be sinister (though I know your mind is racing), maybe they just didn't see what they needed to see on the monitor? From work I know that certain symptoms can lead to a number of different tests that look at the same thing from different angles with different levels of clarity, which is why some folk have a few different tests for the same thing. Sometimes what you can't see one way, you have a go at seeing another way. So, it's possible it could be the same for you and hopefully nothing to worry about.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Try not to worry FPK. Just think about it. What does the process of worrying actually achieve? It does nothing but make you worry more. You just go round in circles worrying. You start to get physical symptoms like feeling sick and generally feeling ill. It will even make your symptoms worse.
Let us think about what worry does to the body. You get a headache because all your muscles tighten in your neck and shoulders. Then your muscles start to ache, so then you start worrying about the aches so now you stomach starts reacting. You feel sick maybe get indigestion and wind, now you start having to run to the bathroom. You pulse goes up, your blood pressure goes up, you are getting ready to fight or run. What are you going to fight or run from?
Chances are that it is because there is nothing of any note your monitoring has picked up, so they are trying something else. Modern medicine does far too many tests that turn out to be nothing. The most likely thing that is causing these symptoms is worry.
Worrying can make you ill. It will not change any outcomes. It's the most pointless biggest waste of your life. You worry until you worry about worrying.
I just give any worry to God. He can worry if he want's to but he knows the outcome anyway.
You could try some relaxation exercises. Then imagine you are putting all your worries in a box, seal it up and put it in the dustbin. Keep doing it every time you start worrying.0 -
Thank you both, that does help. I don't deal with blood tests particularly well but you're both right this doesn't mean anything.
Nursemaggie, I know you're right and that worrying won't change the outcome. I'm going to see if I can distract myself this afternoon.0 -
Hugs to all that need them (MaryB and FPK are the only two I really remember - sorry

Good luck Knit Witch. We're all there with you in spirit, even the elephant.
FPK, is it a set of blood tests they're after?Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Yes Softstuff, several different tests. I'm terrible with them--fainting etc. So i'm not just worried about results but the tests themselves.0

Sending positive vibes to MaryB and KnitWitch.
DD is staying here today and brought her cat as wet paint at her house and a black fluffy cat do not mix well. We had breakfast around nine and I went out to the shops and bought prawns , new potatoes and salad veg as well as low fat natural yoghurt. Planning on making a late lunch around two of green salad, home made potato salad and prawns and will make something simple for tonight or else get a frozen meal out of the freezer as I am trying some low cal ones on an offer.
Hugs to all.0 -

Does it help if you avert your head and close your eyes so you don't see the needle? Sometimes they can do quite a few blood tests from just one or two samples. so I hope it is not too bad for you.0 -
Elona,
I'm hoping it wont' be a protracted one, but given the number of tests the receptionist rattled off I'm not sure. I usually make a double appointment and lie down, eyes averted, deep breathing and lots of panicked talking nonsense to try to distract myself but I've even managed to faint doing all of that. Still, it must be done. I might want to borrow the heffalump to take with me, or perhaps I can get an infusion of Nursie's stern attitude and use it on myself.0
