Wonderful news MaryB - get some well deserved rest and look forward to seeing your DH tomorrow.
LameWolf- again - what Monna said! We are very lucky to have you with us on our garden wall. We all have different strengths and weaknesses and will support our chums in times of need. It may be virtual but it's honestly and lovingly given. You ARE unique and special and have worth and you are certainly a chum xxx

Yes Softstuff, several different tests. I'm terrible with them--fainting etc. So i'm not just worried about results but the tests themselves.

Ah, that sucks for you, best of luck with those FPK. I'm afraid that's an area I've no helpful tips for, I think Lamewolfs sounds particularly good though (it's a technique I use when the physio manhandles my leg) I'm a bit gung-ho with needles though what with having to inject myself so often :o

Even if there's about 10 tests listed though, it needn't be a protracted test. Some of the tests we need before certain scans are 10 line items, but one small vial for blood testing.

Lamewolf, we haven't had the pleasure of your company long here, but already I'd count you as a friend and a lovely person who is worth far more than just a packet of polos.

The trousers do sound lovely Ivyleaf. Wish I could pop round and hem them for you :o

Wonderful news MaryB :T Wishing him a very speedy recovery. And you're so right about how underpaid nurses are. If they ditched some of the middle management, I'd bet nobody would miss them, things would run better and the hardworking ground staff could all have a pay rise.

And, in other news, another "whoosh" for me. I'm now 12.1kg down, and my body fat is just into "average" on the charts. I've never been happier to be average! A few more kilos to go in loss, then onto weight training to move my body fat % to "athletic" (I quite fancy that, it seems so darned foreign as a concept!).

What lovely news to wake up to maryb.

Well done on the weight loss Softstuff, I'm some way behind you on the loss front but it's going down slowly. I must make more of an effort this week.

    Magic news softstuff!
We are all, each and every one of us, precious unique and terrific!! All of us!
Living where I am there are loads of opportunites for out of body experiences or should that be out of mind ones :D That's the only way I survived so long with ME.
Yesterday I went up (alone with no warder yippee!) to meet a lady who has Addisons Disease, first time either of us has met a fellow unicorn lol. I was stood at the bus stop enjoying the silence and the curlews, when I heard a commotion..
Sheepies, in a state, all yelling and baaaaaing and mehhhhing like mad. Then on the skyline appeared a pickup, moving fast towards where they are planting baby trees. And behind it, like the Sioux at the Little Big Horn, galloped a herd of noisy excited sheep :D
I think the Forestry Commission guys were trying bravely to do their job and check the planting - but the sheepies evidently associated a pickup with feeding time and were determined not to miss out :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • MARY the best of news, so happy for Mr.Mary and yourself that the operation is over and done and was successful yesterday. As you say thank goodness for the NHS and all that it CAN do in 2018. I hope today brings a great improvement for Mr.M and that you slept well last night M'dear. It's really nice to celebrate some good news and this is about the best xxx.

    Elona,

I'm hoping it wont' be a protracted one, but given the number of tests the receptionist rattled off I'm not sure. I usually make a double appointment and lie down, eyes averted, deep breathing and lots of panicked talking nonsense to try to distract myself but I've even managed to faint doing all of that. Still, it must be done. I might want to borrow the heffalump to take with me, or perhaps I can get an infusion of Nursie's stern attitude and use it on myself.

Due to the meds I'm on for RA, I have to have monthly blood tests plus a 2-hour infusion via canula every 8 weeks.
I use Emla cream - you can buy it from a pharmacy. It's a 'numbing cream' that you smother on about 2 hours before the needle.
It's the only way I can handle needles.

    Hi Cocketts,

That is really helpful. Can I buy it without prescription? It isn't so much the pain as the entire process and sensation so a bit of numbness couldn't hurt.

FPk You can indeed buy Emla cream "over the counter" - I bought some a few years ago. It's quite expensive, but worth it!

maryb So thankful to hear it went well, and I hope you can still get to Denmark Hill without changing trains these days as it makes such a difference if you have an easy journey to visit your DH.

    mar That's so funny :rotfl:

Softstuff Thank you so much (about hemming the trousers) but they will go to the charity shop and be a happy find for someone else. i have five other pairs that are now the right length :) Huge congrats on the weight loss! :T

"Good morning" hugs to everyone :)
