Not much happening at Chez Panda. We don't even have much snow.
Nursemaggie, would it be worth supplementing your heating with a couple of halogen heaters? We got a couple from B and M when our boiler sprung a leak. They were pretty cheap and didn't send the electricity bill through the roof.
I still have 2 Roman blinds to make. I should have got on with it while OH was away in Ireland, especially as he was there three days longer than he should have been - just don't ask!! Something to do with male organisational skills, I think :rotfl:.
Hope everyone is staying safe and warm.

We have an oil filled radiator. DS will have come in about 3 pm. Found the cheese ad onion rolls and eaten them then cooked his dinner and gone to bed. He could have got into bed by 5.30 so he will not have thought to put the heater on as he would not expect me back before he went to sleep.
His bedroom stays warmer much longer he has a bigger storage heater in his room in relation to the size of the room. His room also faces south. Mine faces North so never gets any sun. It has a tiny heater that never really gets hot. I have the advantage in summer because my room never gets hot. Hence the new PJs.
Apart from having no room to store any more heaters we are hoping to get moved some time soon. We will then have gas central heating. I am not moving anywhere with storage radiators again.0 -
karcher and Islandmaid - one of my friends went to her local shop for milk. They didn't have any so she bought wine instead!
We have about 2 foot of snow and a wind that would cut you in two. I think you could be right mardatha, it's going to take weeks for this lot to thaw. Then there'll be the floods ......0 -
Karcher, hugs.
We have no working toilet, ours has frozen! Fortunately I have a shewee and an empty bottle. The marina toilets are still working as is their shower.
Last night's gale forced open the kitchen window and jammed it open with ice, so it's a bit chilly.
I've topped up the stove and made a cuppa, I shall get dressed in a sec and brave the jetty to get a shower, if I get blown off the jetty I will have a cold dip before my shower..
It's a great life if you don't weaken, lol.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
hugs Karcher. Though I do object to cocktail hour having started with me absent and all, but don't worry, I'll catch up. That said, I'm not supposed to be drinking within 4 hours of going to bed.... do you think if I take a nap on the couch it counts?
Furrybeast, I think Hester is too busy using CHS to stay warm to be sending him out with his measuring... er... stick.
Monnagran, I have visions of mourners towing a coffin on a small childs sled. It remains to be seen. On the other note, I wonder what would happen if people who abuse emergency service were just left to fend for themselves. Cast adrift, removed from hospitals, left to drown as appropriate. It might remove some undesirable genes from the pool.
Cripes MaryB, you yarn addicts are a determined lot. Wild horses wouldn't drag me out in UK weather.
Maybe a whisky for me... and a short nap.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Hope you are all safe and well. Lots of tiny hands being frozen I guess.
We have some snow here and more forecast today, but more alarming is the black ice. I had to force the patio doors open because they were frozen in, then Millie rushed out and slid from end to end of the patio. You've never seen such a shocked look on a dog's face.
I was tempted to leave her there because when I went into the kitchen the large tray bake coffee and walnut cake that I had wrapped in layers of baking parchment and 2 bin bags, was no more. The wrappings were on the floor. The cake was inside Millie.
She is very subdued this morning, I think she has a stupendous tummyache. I certainly hope so.
I haven't got up yet because its warm in bed. Still waiting to hear if the funeral is on or not. All my clothes are lined up waiting for me to jump into if necessary. The food is all packed up and ready to move, barring a large tray bake.
I can't see many people venturing out even if they decide to go ahead. Someone is supposed to be picking me up, but I know she has a courtesy car at the moment and can't imagine that she will be too keen to take any risks.
Nursemaggie, everything I hear about that place enforces my feeling that it is not fit for purpose.
Karcher and IM, take my advice, spend as long as possible in a drunken stupor. You know it makes sense.
I'll be back later to see how everyone is.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Stay at home. Wrap up warm. Eat lots. (Me)I believe that friends are quiet angels

There's a funeral today in town . Last night some of the family were appealing on Facebook for volunteers to help clear the road from the house this morning.
I hope it's a cremation not a burial as I doubt if they'll get up to the cemetery.
All schools still shut. Only one road out of town is passable. All routes over Pennines blocked although that doesn't stop some people trying!
Appeals on Facebook as to whether the shop has had a delivery yet.
I might put my yaktraks on and go down to the main supermarket. We are getting a bit low on fresh fruit and I'm getting cabin fever.0 -
CHS is still in bed so I'm not sending him anywhere to measure anything, if I need to discover length rather than depth I'll get in to bed with him. Purely in an effort not to freeze you understand!Chin up, Titus out.0

Tell that to the marines Hester.
Well our funeral has been postponed till Monday. Everywhere here is just icebound. No buses are running and certainly no cars have tried to go along our little road or the bigger road that leads to it. Not even the vans that supply the hotel just behind us.
The last thing I heard was that they were going to try to go ahead with the cremation, providing that the funeral cars can get to the crematorium and that the crem is operating when/if they arrive.
I have gone back to bed with coffee and a book. Officially I'm not here so it doesn't matter, does it?
All the food can be frozen, except for a certain cake that is in a container on my bedroom floor and trying to avoid my eye..I believe that friends are quiet angels
