Camelot it looks like we'll have snow and ice for a whiley yet. Scottish weather forums saying this isn't going anywhere soon - maybe into mid March.0

I did actually make it to the Knitting and Stitching Show. The roads were passable so DH gave me a lift to the station. Trains were a bit disrupted but once in London it was mostly fine. It was quieter than usual though the stallholders seemed quite gratified that so many people had made it - but then again, it takes a lot to deter doughty ladies of a certain age!! I say ladies advisedly - not normally many men there but most of the ones that do go are clearly devoted, following meekly in their other halves' wakesIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Oh, I'm glad you got there maryb :T Churchmouse and I were thinking of getting advance tickets, but then remembered how exhausted we'd got last time we went to one (at Excel; Sewing For Pleasure, I think it was), so decided to leave it this year as Olympia is a slightly longer journey. (I have ME, and she had chemo a couple of years ago and still gets tired faster than she used to.) Did you buy anything?0

Good evening fellow Eskimos. Our harbour freezing over was mentioned on Classic FM this morning. Gave me quite a turn hearing our village mentioned on such an august programme.
I have spent today cooking up a storm for this wake tomorrow, but now we are not sure if it will happen or not. The minister who is taking the service is panicking about whether the hearse will be able get up the hill. We don't know if we can stop the funeral because we don't know who was planning to come. One family has already come from the mainland, but two other families have phoned to say that they can't risk making the journey.
We will have to see. Watch this space.
There was great hilarity in the local pub among the fishing fraternity apparently. It appears that yesterday two non- locals decided to take a boat out to do a bit of fishing off the Needles. Needless to say, the y came to grief and called out our Lifeboat. The weather was far too rough to take the rib out so they had to take the big boat out. Apparently the idiotic would-be fishermen were extremely rude to the lifeboatmen when they arrived. Not a good move.
Good luck with the appointment tomorrow Silvasava. Hope you can get there.
Mar, if you are snowed in till the middle of March you will have crocheted a fitted carpet by then.
Well the wind is winding itself up so we will see what tomorrow brings.I believe that friends are quiet angels

That man is evil!!! (He!!!8217;s lovely by the way)
But I resisted the pure cashmere knitting well at a mere £13 a skein. Though to be fair, it was a bargain at half the price of the Louisa Harding cashmere woolIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Thanks mar I hope not because my heating can't cope.
It was only 16 degrees at 9 am. It wont start heating up again until about 12.50 am all radiators are cold. Considering my train was over half an hour late from Bolton. I got there quite early and was out quite quickly.
I did go and buy myself two pairs of warm PJs but that did not take long. The chaos hit when I got to Victoria Station. There were crowds of people milling about and a lot of panicky railmen who did not know what was happening.
We got rushed from one platform to another because not only were there things on the line everywhere, but all the drivers were in the wrong places. I caught the 4.30 pm train to Wigan that was going via Bolton at 7.39 pm. I took a taxi from the station. Now you know why I hope it does not last that long mar. I was sorry for the people who were falling asleep on the train as if their journey was as bad going they will have had a long day.
I don't think DS liked the micro wave dinner I left him as a lot was left. Unless he ate the two packets of YS cheese and onion rolls in the fridge. He has a habit of doing that when he sees something he fancies in the fridge.
It was 12 degrees in the sitting room when I got back, 5 in my bedroom or I would have my new PJs on and below -1 in the unheated bathroom.
So much for the central heating we were promised before the winter, last May.
I finished a hat on Tuesday after I got back camelot1001, I looked at and thought that looks nice I like the colour and it goes with my jumper, so I wore it today. It was all over the place, only my glasses stopped it from falling over my eyes. It is supposed to be age 5 to 8 so I think I better label it 7 to 10 and I better knit it in age 2 to 4. Age 2 hats do usually fit me. :rotfl::rotfl:
Yes DS did eat 20 cheese and onion rolls!0
