Fuddle I am sure they are dead now! It is -9 here and windchill factor -23!!!
Forecast for tomorrow is -5 during the day will be lower before I get home.
What I want to freeze is my bowels. I took 6 loperamide yesterday, can't remember it's brand name but I am sure you know what I mean Not one worked so I limped from toilet to toilet all day and even straight from one to the other in the Christie. I don't want another day like that again tomorrow. It's no better today.
Thanks for all you good wishes. I am sure it's much colder with you fuddle you are a lot more north of us.0 -
I would prepare things that can go in the freezer monna then you won't waste anything.0

No need of a freezer nursemaggie, the kitchen will do just as well.
So far we are are getting off lighter than all you hardy souls in the frozen north. We will see what happens when Emma strikes today. I haven't known such cold for a long time and I remember the legendary winters of 1947 and 1963. However, food has to be prepared in case tomorrow happens.
That's fine. The oven should warm the kitchen nicely and that is where I'll be staying.once I manage to prise myself from my cosy bed.
I will pop in and out today to find out how you are all faring.
If you have to go out today, just be careful where you put your feet, we don't want any broken bones.
I think we all deserve another verse of 'See, amid the Winter's Snow.'
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Say, ye cheerful children, say
Why aren't you in school today?
"We are skating round and round
'Cos the heating's broken ddown.
Yes, the boiler's gone berserk!
Mum has missed a day at work.
Though she's cross and seems on edge,
We can ride upon our sledge!" (Nigel Beeton)I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
It's a balmy -3 here, CHS has been taken to work, I just hope I can get out to collect him.
One of his colleagues has a heart complaint so CHS is needed to do the heavy work.
Our toilet is frozen so we have to use the marina facilities, brrr.
Fingers crossed you find something soon NM.
I'll sit here and chortle at the thought of Mr Pea Seedlings bits shriveling in the cold.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
I woke at 3:30 this morning, no snow but very cold, popped the heating on low, woke again at 7 am, still no snow, so was at Aldi for 8 am to do the weeks shopping.
Got the essentials of cat food, loo roll and wineDid my normal weekly shop, some where stockpiling milk and bread... we have no snow, it’s due tonight and due to clear by Sunday, each to their own.
Now all snuggled up with the 4 cats in front of the woodburnerGrilled Salmon Steaks with Lemon Risotto tonight
MIL (86] is annoyed with us as we spread rock salt on her steps and walkways and it looks a mess  she has done her washing and hung it out, then swept up the salt :wall: Hubby is going to pop in and re lay salt today ready for storm Emma tonight
Stay safe and warm all of you xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Flippin eck you guys are freezing your bits off. Love and warmth to all.
I'm now the proud slave of a personal fitness device. I have purchased a fitbit, may the gawds have mercy on me. Ostensibly I got it to track my sleep, but I admit to being kind of curious of all its other many features. The question next is if I become eager to please it and march to keep it happy with its step targets, or if I rebel and sit down and eat more cakeSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Snowing on and off here this morning, more on than off. DS has set off to see if he can get to work to at least do a half-day. I have some bread mix, so I shall have a go with that shortly. It's a French brand and enough to make a single "rustic" loaf, so i'm wondering whether to make just half of it today and the other half tomorrow. Not tried making bread without a breadmaker before, and have sore hands, but I do have a Kenwood Prospero mixer which has hardly been used so far despite being a present for Christmas 2016
, so i shall see how I get on with that.
monnagran So sorry to hear there were only two of you to do everything yesterdayTry to take it easy today.
DGD's primary school is closed today, and DGS's secondary school is open "but the footwear rules will be relaxed for today" the notice says, a little pompously. Their mum is working from home as their local station is closed today. She's a specialist nurse but doesn't see patients on Thursdays, so she can do all the admin stuff from home.0 -
Ivy try the stretch and fold method rather than kneading, it's what I use for my sourdough and it works really well and astonishingly quickly though you have to have about four goes at it spread over a couple of hours before you put it in the tin for the final rise.
There are lots of youtube videos but basically all you do is reach underneath the dough with your finger tips and grab the edge and lift it up to stretch it. Not too much because you don't want the dough to tear. Then you fold that stretched bit back over the rest of the dough, turn the bowl a quarter turn and do the same thing again on the next bit of edge. By the fourth stretch you will feel the dough behaving differently, it will be much more resistant to stretching. Leave it for 20 minutes and do the same thing again. Do this a total of four times leave for 20 minutes then shape your dough into the tinIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Woke up to blizzards again but when it stopped the RV went out with his tape measure and we had over 40cms. Will be deeper now as it's snowed most of the day. No buses, no schools until Monday, and earlier on all the roads were impassible, even the main A routes. We're cut off to all but tractors and I can't go outside as I have no wellies!! Only my boots and the snow comes to above my knees.0
