silvasava: When I was at my lowest point and almost suicidal the wonderful people on this thread loved and encouraged me until I started to feel like me again. I still have my moments but the light at the end of the tunnel is a bit brighter these days.

Loving and laughing - it's what we do best. It saved me, I hope it will save burtha and many, many others in years to come.

Thanks all of you. That's all.

I said something similar when The late MrC died (he died 12 miles off the coast of the Falkland Islands and caused so much chaos it was untrue). I said I'd lost my husband and that was bad enough but if I ever lost my sense of humour I'd have myself shot. Luckily it seems to be with me still (despite a couple of subsequent revelations re The late MrC who henceforth shall be known as TLMC which would have had my hands round his throat if he wasn't already dead, sigh). The house troll (previously known as the house elf but now almost 13) seems to have a decent sense of humour too, luckily for both of us.

Burtha I believe in karma and he will get what's coming to him even if you have to wait a good while. In the meantime, I'd like to send you the biggest of very big hugs xxx

I've got something that says it is a "low-carb protein bar" it's a free sample that was being handed out at Tesco. It looks like the elephant has sat on it and squashed it though :D
Er, thanks but I think I'll give it a miss!

Just a quick shout out to Burtha, thinking of you :grouphug:
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • There is strength in sharing experiences even when we don't actually know each other in real life. We seem to have the capacity for empathy and real sympathy when one of 'us' is having problems, the rallying round is a woman thing I feel, solidarity especially when someone we 'know' is hurting and suffering the anguish of a broken relationship and having to deal with all the 'baggage' needed to sort things out, how could we not support and encourage and just hold out the hand of friendship, specially if you've been through the same experience and really know how she is feeling. It's a real comfort in times of distress just to be able to 'say it' and know there is understanding here and love too because we do all care don't we? The laughter and humour is for sharing too, the best of the best, the leaven in the dough of the mundane and the lightness that really is a necessity to cope in these modern and trying times. Here's to all of us, long may we remain, long may we help one another and long may we laugh!!! xxx.

oof. We're just back from Pilates and I'm waiting for OH to finish in the shower as I want a bath. It was really tough, although can I just whisper that I'm able to keep up far, far better than my OH who jogs or swims daily which has given me a bit of a boost of confidence. It isn't a competition and he is doing brilliantly for someone who has never done this sort of thing, but it really made me realize just how much diligently going to the gym and doing yoga has helped me to get stronger.

Now, back to behaving myself and not bragging.

Dunking heffalumps? Laughter and sharing as medicine? What would I do without you lot! Honestly I went through some tough times that I couldn't always share in detail on here, but I felt the benefit anyway. I still can't give the details of most of it on here, but suffice it to say I feel I came out stronger and happier and didn't let it break me and this board was definitely a factor in it. I know Burtha and all of those who share or just read along who are facing something tough will as well. Chin up and titus (or in my case pancake) out.xx

    Good heavens NO.
Get that hefferlump into a cup of tea and it's hell's delight to get it out again. It tends to wallow and takes an age to get satisfactorily soggy.

Never, ever get your hefferlump confused with your bikkie.

Thinking of burtha and hoping today is not as bad as yesterday.

*Giggling over mental picture of a soggy elephant wallowing in a giant cup of tea* :rotfl:

FPK gold star to the girl! DH is often a bit disgruntled that I (who only goes up & down two flights of stairs 8 times a day whilst in work) have as much stamina as him (who does 300 strokes on a rowing machine twice a week!)...just keep thinking tortoise & hare ;)

Am feeling blessed with my second DH and my two DS's - me & my boys have had carp times following my split from their dad, but for the record, 17 years after we split very acrimoniously, me & DH and the ex & his wife were able to make small talk at DS1's 30th birthday meal and at DS2's wedding. It is not easy, but it is a positive result after 13 years of no relationship (and TBH he found it much more difficult than I did ;))

Have just been laughing out loud at the Usain Bolt documentary the other night - he works so hard to achieve his results, but has such a great supportive group of pals and it reminded me of the Fence threads :D

    Hi Everyone
Sorry I've been missing all day after your lovely welcomes, but seem to have had non stop visitors. Highly unusual as I can go weeks on end without any!

Knit Witch, I think we may have even more in common as I have a (ahem) number of knitting machines and tons of wool in an upstairs room!

Burtha I know it's no consolation that so many of us have been in the same, or similar, situations as you find yourself in, but knowing that people understand exactly where you are coming from sometimes gives a bit of strength to cope with it all.
Someone said that grieving for the living is the worst of all, I found that grieving for someone who didn't actually exist, except in my mind, was the worst of all. Facing the reality of what someone is really like can be the hardest cut of all. Sending ((((hugs))))

Gotta go cos I've got a flaming Heffalump sitting in my coffee cup and it's demanding I go get a towel to dry it!
    I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy

    Hi all,
Well today hasn't got any better , he been here when I was at work to see the kids , problem was they didn't but did want to see him , but apparently he only spoke to them for 5 mins each , he did cut some wood so at least that was useful , ..
So he must have spent maybe 2 hrs here ... he spoke to my eldest ds , who urged him to help with his sister , telling him how broken she is and he has to start to belive me and help her get through this ....
    Again he walked away ....
She was supposed to be at a sleepover tonight , but called me at 11 to pick her up ... don't know what's harder saying nothing and holding her or trying to answer questions about the future I don't know the answers to , either way we will get through this , just shattered ...
Spent the last half hour in tears ...again
But on the plus side I have had some food today
And the pup has sat still ish looking at me in tears ,probably wonders what the heck is going on , poor thing ..thought pup would help with dd but she is mostly pushing her away to , her first dog and the joys of puppy training and being frustrated at the same time are not good ....
He has certainly got a lot to answer for , ...
So let's see what tomorrow brings ...
New bank account opened and new email set up , spoke to solicitor .
    Onwards and upwards .
    Xx
