Good morning Monna and all who follow . A new year and a clean page for us all . Thoughts are with MMF and her loved ones , VJs mum and the family , burtha , karcher and all with heavy hearts and sadness . I wish peace and healing to everyone in need and better times to come .
Thank you Monna for the time you spend posting the thoughts for the day . Neil Gaiman is a favourite of mine and having had a quick peek at yesterday's Thought for the year I find Morgan Harper Nichols ( you know me so well ! )
Finally emerging from repeated strong ABs I hope to post more and wish all Fencers good health and peace of mind in the year to come .

Morning all. Happy new year to you all xx

Dad's funeral is on Wednesday but after this i aim to move forward with positivity - not forgetting, obviously, but not dwelling either.

OH and i are going to the canary islands on Saturday for a week (booked before dad died) and we are looking forward to that. There will be challenges this year - dad's estate to sort and issues with MiL but i will take things as they come and not be anxious...

Here's hoping

Thank you Monna for all the TsFTD but this particular line resonates hugely.

After too many years of being worn down by outside influences 2017 has been the first year in ages that I have surprised myself with my achievements - some were tiny and would be considered irrelevant by most, some were bigger and even surprised my nearest and dearest.
I have enjoyed doing things i never even contemplated before, have suceeded with some aims and have stepped up to the plate when needed.
So I have surprised myself and lived to tell the tale(s) :rotfl:

In all the years I spent with chest infections on NYD I was not ill all year, but then I figure superstitions are quite wily so I try to be wily back...being ill means trying to look after myself better than usual that day which would mean I spent all year looking after myself. Perhaps working means getting paid..so you'll get paid all year. I won't say you'll spend all year making ends meet--I hope for better than that for you and for it to be less exhausting and more rewarding.

It is a tough day for many on here, all I'd say is try to find a moment's peace or pleasure or respite tomorrow and I'll wish for that to be the thing you carry forward.

Happy New Year fencers, we were late getting up this morning, I was asleep at midnight but woke just after one am, fell asleep at 6am. It will take me all day to catch up.
Thinking of karcher, MMF, VJSMUM, Burtha and everyone else who is struggling or suffering.
More painting being done today by CHS, I'm cleaning the floors and planning my shopping list, how exciting is that!

Wishing my fellow fencers all that's good in 2018, and for those who are sad or struggling, may it be a happier year than you might expect.

pandamonium - I meant to say when you posted the other day, I have a raccoon my DD crocheted for me. Its head has gone floppy but its front legs still stick up in the air, so it looks rather like Dracula swooping on his prey. We call it Vampire Raccoon

I have no idea what we're having for dinner today!
