I was always told that whatever you do on NYD was what you'd do for the year so I always try to make it nice.

I hope not! I am working tomorrow! I have 2 jobs and the one I have to do tomorrow is the one I really don't enjoy and do just to make ends meet :(

Karcher, Dad is still eating very little but hosp have him sat in a chair for at least an hour a day and he is holding his own. The nurse he gets on best with (he says they are all great, but he hit it off with this guy), says he is less confused today, which is very good news.
The wierd thing is that every time they have moved him in or out of bed he is sick. Turns out he has motion sickness! Honestly, I can't believe it! I assume it is because i), he's been lying down alot, and ii), his inner ear is malfunctioning. Poor dad.
Meanwhile mum is full of a horrendous cold that has laid half the village low. She didn't visit today and may not make it in tomorrow. A neighbour went in so dad did have a visitor. I shall ring hosp tomorrow and they will take the phone in to dad :)

I can't believe it is the last day of 2017. The year has flown by!! No idea what 2018 will bring but family worries aside I reckon there will be some fun and plenty of little things to find joy in.
In January I usually write a sort of 'to do' wish list. Not resolutions, just things I want to get sorted out, or places I want to visit, or ideas for new pastimes etc. I enjoy thinking about what to list and how to try and achieve the aims.
Ages ago I read about keeping a note of the things you are grateful for and I might try this in 2018. My understanding is that you can write anything from seeing a beautiful flower to just catching the bus you nearly missed! Anything that made life better.

So, thank you all for being here, for 'listening' and for offering support. I am sending you all my very best wishes for 2018. See you there!!

VJsmum, 2018 won't get off to the best start for you I know, but I hope you feel peace in your heart.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

In all the years I spent with chest infections on NYD I was not ill all year, but then I figure superstitions are quite wily so I try to be wily back...being ill means trying to look after myself better than usual that day which would mean I spent all year looking after myself. Perhaps working means getting paid..so you'll get paid all year. I won't say you'll spend all year making ends meet--I hope for better than that for you and for it to be less exhausting and more rewarding.

It is a tough day for many on here, all I'd say is try to find a moment's peace or pleasure or respite tomorrow and I'll wish for that to be the thing you carry forward.

Still here, fireworks and a dog crying :( are keeping me awake.

I've been out to try and find the dog but I can't, it sounds like it's just a pup :(
