I imagine there will be a lot of fireworks here too.
I expect I'll go to bed and make sure my ear plugs are well and truly plugged.
I can't remember the last time I actually saw in or enjoyed the start of a new year.:o'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Another one who goes to bed early and wakes up to a new year.
I did stay up for the millennium. A friend was with me and we sat out in the garden of my cottage and watched the fireworks all around. We were right out in the sticks and at the top of a hill so we could see for miles. It was magical.
Three years ago we were invited to a party at the local Catholic priest's flat. He cooked the most fantastic meal and we all crammed into his little sitting room to watch the New Year in. It was the craziest New Year ever.
This year it will be the early night again.I believe that friends are quiet angels

We aren’t exactly party animals either, it’s a long standing tradition to dress up in fancy dress and trawl the Cowes pubs for new year, we knew when we were getting old when we were one of the last to do so... apparently it’s not ‘cool’ any more
We are now in favour of something Scottish and single malted with ice to toast the new year, before snuggling up in bed - not necessarily at midnight.....Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
We go to bed at the usual time and read, wish each other a 'Happy New Year' at midnight and go to sleep.
When we lived in Scotland we could see the Princes Street fireworks from the top of the hill outside Haddington, we used to watch the fireworks and then go home to bed.0 -
I will have about four visitors who are staying overnight so will be staying up till midnight at least. (two dds , a friend and maybe a BF)
There is bacon and eggs and bread for breakfast and smoked salmon trimmings for a fancy breakfast if wanted. I will make marinated chicken drumsticks with lots of veg and roast potatoes for lunch but not sure how many I am cooking for.
I made soup tonight and youngest said it smelt great then saw the bones I had used for stock and went off the idea. She had tinned soup and a sandwich and I had the home made with plenty left over put in a lidded dish in the fridge to eat later or to freeze.
Seems the idea of making soup or stew with meat that has bones is
off putting to the younger generationObviously far better to use "stock cubes" that have never seen an animal!!! Sarcasm alert!

We won't stay up to see the new year in.

Plans for 2018, be happy, be grateful for all I have.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
The weather forecast said that we would have strong winds and rain. They did not lie.
Nothing much planned for today. I may make some more lemon curd as all my jars have been given away and I quite fancy some for myself. Then I will potter gently.
I came across this in my book yesterday and thought that it might make a good
THOUGHT FOR THE END OF THE YEAR
When you start to think that things should have been better this year, remember all the mountains and valleys that got you here.
These are not accidents and these moments were not in vain.
You are not the same.
You are growing, you are breathing, you are living.
You are wrapped in endless, boundless grace, and things will get better.
There is more to you than yesterday.I believe that friends are quiet angels

We will be staying up to see the New Year in - with my dsis, bil, nephew and niece, ds1 and gf, ds2 and nsdh. Will be a little bittersweet but I am looking forward to 2018. Lots of lovely Pesian food and board games for the kids.
My sister has a new one called the 5 second rule - you have to name 3 things in only 5 secs - harder than it sounds and not too serious.
The best moment was when my nephew read "5 dinners you make from leftovers" as "5 dinners you make from lovers" which led to some rather ribald comments from everyone else(which went straight over his head - bless)
My bil is planning an evening of cocktails so that should be fun.
I can't bear NY parties - too long, too many people and too much standing - but this should be good.
If there are typos on this, my sister's cat keeps walking over the keyboard. He's 19 and can make our collie run for his life just by flicking one ear.
Hugs to all who aren't looking forward to tonight.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

We will be in bed and asleep way before midnight, we always are.
DS and gf came over yesterday, they gave me a brilliant tee shirt it says if you can read this I've capsized, it's written upside down.
We also had a drink with our neighbours, they have come from Bath to meet up with the engineer who is replacing our engine. They have offered £1600 for our old one, this is great it will pay the engineer for the work he's doing for us.
Today we are visiting DD1 and taking the presents over for her children.
Tonight I will watch the final Harry Potter film.Chin up, Titus out.0
