Ivyleaf. Our birds absolutely adore raw pastry dough. They queue up among the walls on baking days. How do they know?
They give an excellent display of aerobatics in their efforts to get at the dough before the seagulls come and bully them away. Millie is kept safely away behind the patio doors, dancing the Charleston and screaming her head off.
    Fun for all.
The birds enjoy the pastry dough.
    Millie enjoys the exercise.
    I enjoy the pantomime.

I love the mental image of Millie dancing the Charleston :rotfl:

I might offer the robins a broken-up mince pie tomorrow.
  • Thanks for the giggles Hester and monna Really needed them.

    No garden now...tools in storage.

Before he retired DH had a running account with Snap On!! He's ex Crane Engineer so he has a garage full of car tools, bike tools, tool tools ad infinitum. So why does he always go to my 'Lady Toolbox' that I keep in the kitchen? It's got a small ball Paine hammer, pliers, pincers, a screwdriver roll, Silicone spray, WD 40 and duct tape plus hooks for hanging things - why?????? Cos he can't be arrised to go to the garage and rummage in his enormous posh toolboxes!

Oh you've made me laugh today, thanks!

First day back at work since 23rd Nov. Thankfully my lovely clients were all delighted to see me. I worked hard, had a 7 minute 'lunch break' and got home at 7pm. DH made a fab mushroom omlette then my cousin rang to see how dad is, and now I am enjoying a cup of tea with my feet up. Phew.
Apparently dad was allowed to be out of bed, sitting in a chair today for a short spell. Psychologically that will do him good, I am sure. Took 2 nurses to get him in and out of bed but at least it happened.

More work tomorrow but I hope to be home by 4pm! :)
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

    Exciting times ahead FPK.
Torrential rain here and strong wind here.
Monna gee thanks, it is something I'm aware of, I just keep thinking of the line from the film Alien, kill me now!
No engine bay painting today so CHS wants to visit B&Q for a fix of tool !!!!!!, I'm so excited, not.
For me the day holds the joy of vacuuming, dusting and cooking, more crochet this evening.

Could have been worse, Hester, you could have been in the company of a photocopier and a bunch of idiots!

Wow, the wind is as strong as ever. It kept waking me up in the night, at least I suppose it was that. I feel exhausted this morning. I must go downstairs and have my first injection of industrial strength caffeine.

I will return when I have come to and the old brain is creaking back into action.

I hope everyone is fine and dandy this morning.

Good for you mar. I have always wanted to be a lark and hit the day running. No such luck. I can't even claim to be a night owl, by 8.00 pm my brain and body have parted company. Is there a dormouse class? If not I might have to start one.

Anyway, coffee and egg on toast have done their job and the day can now begin for me.
Most important today is to find out how our friends are doing.

thriftmonster, you and your family must be reeling still. I do hope that you will be able to pull together and get through this dreadful time.

VJsmum, its peculiar, isn't it, this sort of waiting time before the funeral? You seem to be keeping yourself busy so perhaps it is helping you to cope.

MMF, are you slowly recovering from the last 5 weeks? I know you are still waiting and your heart must miss a beat every time the phone rings but at least you are at home and life is as normal as possible in the circumstances.

burtha, your posts have been short and brave, but what a hard time Christmas must have been for you. Let's hope that now it is over things will ease a bit for you.

nursemaggie, you have battled with awful housing issues. Perhaps 2018 will be the year you finally find a better home.

I must have missed someone out, but as we approach the end of 2017 there are quite a few of us who will be saying goodbye to that year with no regrets.

Nothing exciting planned for this weekend, but I will be content with my warm room, my knitting, books, TV and music.

Anyone else doing anything more noteworthy?

So today will be washing muddy pawprihts of the floor again, making sausage rolls for DGS, vacuuming upstairs and ironing. Be still, my beating heart.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

    Corduroy pillows are making headlines.
