Monnagran, be a sensible girl and put the heating on! I am not advocating that you set it to 40 degrees and wander round the house half naked, but nobody ever got a medal for sitting in a cold house and freezing their wotsits off!

My OH was in the Marines many years ago, and they had a saying - any fool can be uncomfortable.

Whether you use central heating, individual room heaters or wood burners, you need a comfortable ambient temperature this time of year to stay fit and well. Doesn’t have to cost a fortune, if you have decent insulation, proper clothes, warm food and drink etc, you just need to keep the chill off the air.

I hope the kitchen is a bit less Baltic by now mar  and that you didn't get heartburn. I'm very glad to hear you're feeling better.

Our heating is coming on just in the early morning and the evening. OH seizes up if he gets cold, and putting extra layers on makes it too difficult for him to move around.
The thermostat is in the living room, which faces south. Unfortunately the bathroom faces north.....

nursemaggie that house sounded ideal apart from the size. Were the rooms even smaller than the rooms in your flat? I so hope you find the right place very soon x

Well done for sorting out the bedroom! I hope the jelly-making goes well today. Thank you for the Thoughts for Today :) I really enjoy them.

ETA Hester That casserole will be lovely and tender :)

Oh you lovely people! Please don't worry about me. I keep my bedroom warm because that and the kitchen and bathroom are the only rooms I use. All the other rooms are empty-ish. I just pop in and keep them dusted. I think that any day now I will put the heating on just to prevent anything freezing and keeping things ticking over.
Honestly, I gave up the hair shirt some time ago.

I got the apple jelly made, though I fear that it may turn out to be apple rubber. I had to answer the door while it was boiling so turned the gas off. Having dealt with the visitor I returned to find that I had mistakenly turned the gas UP. It was well past the setting point. We'll see.

Now I have to try and make myself put on some slightly more respectable clothes and walk up to the shop. It's a fight though. My inclination is to stay here in my nice warm bedroom and do some knitting.

The sooner thy house is sold the better monna. There's far too many rooms sitting idle and idleness is never good. ;)

I'm late to catching up today. Monna think yourself lucky that you've avoided a rollicking from the fuddley one! :D DD and I were walking in -2 frost covered grass this morning. It was lovely. I know it's different down your end and I know you're not daft so I'll back off but if I said what you had said you'd tell me to put the ruddy heating on and not be so stubborn! Ahem. ;):D

    Am suitably chastened.

DS is coming tomorrow to cut the grass, rain permitting, I will get him to sort the heating out. I have an idea that the radiators will need bleeding.

Although a cold start this morning it has been a beautiful day. I walked up to the shop via the beach and the sea was blue and sparkling in the sunshine.

Now I am tucked up in bed with my 'warm patch' as Pickle calls my microwaveable wheat bag, my gentle music playing and my book. Millie is snoring contentedly in her bed on the floor.

Well those teeth took some pulling out. I had two students pulling and pulling for ages. The second one was very delicate it even crumbled away while just letting chocolate melt in my mouth. Glad it is all over. Not nice when you get grit in your chocolate.

They were trying not to break it. They had to get their tutor to pull it out in the end. What a relief when he pulled it out. My teeth were stibbon to the end.
