Oh Monna the caterpillar idea is great. Steps 1 and 2? I am a past master! Just need to know when step 3 will materialise?? :rotfl:

Been very busy with paid work. Today is housework, plus I intend making lemon marmalade, cauliflower cheese (4 tea, with some lemon sole and green beans), and some sort of dessert for DH - have to raid the cupboards for inspiration for that. Have done laundry and cleaned bathroom, hence stopping for a brew now :) I love my Fridays off. Mundane to some but beats sitting in an office!

My new door curtain is about to be put up. I have to say I am really really pleased with it. The fabric is absolutely right for the room.
Actually, am now thinking it is the best quality thing in there! Doh. Decorating or changing soft furnishings does 'show up' other things, doesn't it?

Right, lots more to do. Have to ring mum to see how she is. Poor thing was looking forward to a break from looking after dad while she is suffering from cancer herself but 1), he decided to go with her (so no rest for her then) and 2), she has had a nasty infection that knocked her for 6 for most of her week away. It's just not fair. Luckily, they were staying with my brother so they have been well looked after and the NHS was great when they were needed in an emergency.

It is a beautiful sunny day here today :D
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Well - the highlight of my week is the arrival of my new winter boots today - I have short, fat legs with a very high instep (I know, it sounds irresistible) and boots are a nightmare for me - I ordered some ‘heavenly soles’ mid calf boots, Brown sort of biker style and they fit :T:T not only that, they are comfortable, very comfortable :D

On a roll, I have found something that Hubby will love for Christmas, tickets to see Simon Reeves at a local theatre next year, he loves his laid back style whilst travelling all over the place and I find him easy on the eye ;)

    Little things :rotfl::rotfl:

    Well I am much better.

    Monna If only.

It's a beautiful day hear too. I am sat here too hot and I cant be bothered to move. I am right by the window and the sun is streaming in.

DS's knee is much better with the gel the doctor gave him. He came in from work today and said I'm rich. He told me how much he has in the bank and said he had never had so much money before. It was Pay day today and he got his overtime from last month. It really adds up. I am so pleased for him.

Nursemaggie glad your feeling better and DS x

My DH works a very physical job and suffers the aches and pains associated with that, about a year ago I made an appointment for him to see a local chiropractor as he was in agony with his back, I don’t know the science, but apparently when your body is out of joint in one area, the body readjusts to put the strain on another area, result - pain in both areas, so he gets his bones put back into the right places 4 times a year now and has barely any issues, might help your DS

OK Islandmaid, I'll match your short fat legs and raise you the pair of fat upper arms that a spiteful fairy godmother saddled me with.

Babs, I watched the rugby too. Very disappointing I felt. We was robbed.

Mrsmortenharket. Of course you can join us. We are always on the look out for new victims,I mean friends. (note to self, must learn to do strike-throughs.)
Seriously it's lovely to have you with us.

MMF007. Isn't it amazing the difference something smallish, like a door curtain, can make to the look of a room.

I haven't been as productive as I'd hoped today. I just couldn't get myself going somehow so eventually I packed it in and sat out in the garden enjoying the sunshine. No good being retired if you don't make the most of it.
I believe that friends are quiet angels

Have trouble remembering how to fly.
  • I'm baaack! Did you miss me? No I thought not.

I haven't spent the first week of my retirement indulging in rumpy pumpy, I have spent it swearing, cursing and generally banging my head in despair.

My mifi stopped working, eleventy billion phone calls later a new one was sent out. Now obviously I couldn't have it delivered to my house as I'm not living there and I couldn't have it delivered to the boat, third boat past the Sloe bushes isn't acceptable to the courier.
So it was delivered the CHS's place of work. Ok so there was a problem, CHS cannot sit at work all day watching out for a delivery but as we were provided with a one hour slot he could arrange to work at the front of the building for that hour, easy yes? No.
Despite me receiving many phone calls from the company the 'one hour slot' information can only be emailed to me. Anyone see t h e problem with this?
That's right, I cannot receive any emails as my mifi stopped working!
I did try to explain the dilemma but it seems 'computers says no'.
Yeah God's and little fishes, it's taken all week to sort t h is out and I'VE MISSED YOU!

In other news, CHS likes that I'm retired, he seems to enjoy having me as his full time P.A.
    Chin up, Titus out.

My sister lives out in the wilds in the republic of Ireland. She often has internet problems. McDonalds has free wifi and to our cheapskate moneysaving joy it can usually be reached by parking outside (with flask and/or cheap snacks from elsewhere). Do you see where I'm going with this? McNasty's can't be the only place.......

Hello, I read but don't post. Perhaps I should join in!

    Of course you should :)

I have half the sofa covers in the wash atm, with the other half to go in next. OH has now realised why I complain that I can't pull the sofa out to clean behind it because he's stashed so much "stuff" under it and in front of it!

silvasava Glad to hear your's boat's bottom is now a barnacle-free zone :D

babs ', I'm really glad to hear your DH is back home :T

nm hooray, DS has money at last :j He seems to have had to wait such a long time to be paid.

So happy that you've been able to log in again Hester! :T What a daft situation! We have missed you too!
