I hope you get confirmation about your job soon. Good about the Cap 1 cardFinally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
Debt in July 2017 = £58,766 😱 DEBT FREE 31 OCTOBER 2017 :T 🎉
EMERGENCY FUND 1 = £50/£5,000. EMERGENCY FUND 2 = £10/£5,000.
CHRISTMAS SAVINGS = £0/£500. SEF = £1,400/£12,000 PREMIUM BONDS ME = £350. PREMIUM BONDS DH = £300.
HOLIDAY MONEY = £0 TIME LEFT TO PAY OFF MORTGAGE = 5 YEARS 1 MONTHS0 -
Afternoon
Bike man came last night and fixed DS's wheel, if he bashes it again then it will be a replacement wheel (£70), according to his website last night he should've charged us £19 but only charged £15
Brought my lunch with me to work today, salad and a roll. Thinking of tuna pasta tomorrow for a change.
DS at Cadets and DD at Guides tonight...so easy dinner for DH and I...probably omelette.
Keeping a close eye on the bank account and trying to be frugal, aiming for a small shop this weekend as need to buy DH's Fathers Day bits on Saturday and we are out for the day on Sunday.0 -
Also, whilst I remember, I have been thinking about the Capital One card, I could theoretically get rid of it in 3-4 months if I pay the minimum on the MBNA.
I could then plough any survey/Quidco money at both the MBNA and the BC which would reduce them a bit more by Christmas?
Constructive criticism welcome0 -
Forget that one....just checked the Cap One and I think I miscalculated somewhere....I'm still at £400. Probably got too keen!0

Whichever has highest interest
xx
Debt (1/9/14) £6,702.11 Debt free (30/11/2016) mortgage port- £70,077.82 and mortgage £126,517.39 o/s currently
Debt - £17,190.83 (29/7/22) now (19/8/22) £16,688.800 -
I agree, the MBNA is 0% until Sept next year but the BC is the one that charges huge interest.
Having a look at the BC, there is £201.25 of DH's expenses to come off before my normal payment.
The MBNA minimum payment is £63, I usually pay £150 off, so I think I will blitz the Cap One then it is gone for Christmas and then attack the BC.
It just means that the MBNA won't be as low as hoped in time for the 0% deal to run out but it will at best be only £2k - £3k left on it by then.0 -
Morning,
I've had my thinking head on quite a bit this morning after yesterdays dilemma with the Cap One card.
Things I am certain on:
The Cap One card will be gone by Christmas
Must carry on bringing my lunch to work - no excuses
Try to be frugal with the diesel to and from work - stop rushing
Make a pot in my Principality account for the OD
Use survey/Quidco money to plough on to the BC
I've emailed Panelbase about the quality check, I'm not sure why it flagged it up but would like to know what is going on...watch this space!
I've brought my lunch to work today, pasta with sweetcorn and tuna; we didn't have any mayonnaise so I'm hoping it'll taste ok.
I have drastically cut down my alcohol intake this week and have slept better for it0 -

When we run out I just do a spoon of oil, with about half as much lemon, whizz it about with a fork till it goes cloudy and then use that as a simple dressing. He has it in a separate tub till lunch time actually, so he can just shake the tub and then drizzle it on. No use for today, but may help in the future. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Feeling very proud of myself.....one of my favourite FB pages is having a sale on tapestries and I really like one of them but have resisted buying it. It was £22.50 now £15. As much as I would love to have it I have one to finish and two to do that will take me a good few years to complete.
There will be others!0
