Happy birthday, MHags!
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Another 2 hours on the allotment saw the planting of lettuce, radishes, chard and flowers! Plus carrots.
3) Had to get petrol, milk and bread. Parents left a bag at the end of their drive as they are defrosting a freezer. So we had fruit, beef and muntjak in that. Did not enjoy the trip to the garage (nearest is 3 villages away / 5 miles) - deserted, pub in next village with the car park chained off and just a weird, tense atmosphere around those getting petrol.
4) Pizza and wedges for tea and curry for me. Then some plums fried in a bit of honey with yoghurt.
5) Have been in bed a while and will watch TV just now. Just realised I need to get up to get the washing from the machine.

2. More time in the garden. In and out of the greenhouse between hail and snow showers!
3. Mended my vacuum cleaner. DH was saying we would need a new one.
It was good to fix it and saved money.

5. Messaging a friend. She is well which is good.

For yesterday,
Up early but not so as clocks had sprung forward, offered a walk but small dog just run outside, did her business and came straight back in.
Long chat with my uncle, caught up all news from that side of the family, my cousin is leaving regular food parcels for them and they were expecting a wine delivery so happy enough ☺️
Roast chicken dinner followed by the last of the rice pudding and then a snooze.
Afternoon walk, dug hat, scarf and gloves back out as was bitterly cold but small dog needed the exercise as did we!, she carried her tennis ball all the way round and it had to be put into the boiler cupboard to dry off!
Cheese and biscuits for supper whilst watching interesting programme on archaeology in Egypt.11 -
I've been AWOL again but still noticing small pleasures every day. Here are mine for yesterday:
Catching up on all your wonderful posts - so nice to see so many people making the most of this horrid situation
Day off work - in fact I have the next couple of days off. I had a wonderful night’s sleep and was up early pottering about the house when half the world was still asleep
Warm enough to have the back door open this morning and let some fresh air in
Took some time out from chores and read my book - something I’ve not had time to do for a while
Went a nice walk with Mr U, the fresh air did us good
Watched a movie together tonight - Contagion was probably not the best choice though
Hope everyone has a love day, stay safe!15 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday,
Being able to look out of the back windows at an almost tidy garden.
Texted milkman to ask if he will bring us some bread in the week. The man who can said yes so no need to go anywhere shopping this week.
Checked on my aunty and my dad's cousin via message. They are both ok and have enough food for now. Aunty has severe COPD so sent her the link to register as vulnerable. They haven't had any post for over a week so if she's due a letter it hasn't arrived yet.
Planted courgette seeds. A little early but they'll be staying in the house for a few weeks yet so it doesn't really matter. Next door's little dog was grinning at me through the fence when I went out to fetch the compost.
Chat with best friend while gaming. He sounded so much better than he did on Friday when he was absolutely shattered.
Take care all of you

Hello. I’m just in from an afternoon in the garden painting the fencing, The painting part is not the pleasure but the end result will be and the wood really does need protecting...hoping to squeeze another couple of years out the fence. I had one tub from last year so I’m seeing how far I get until it’s used up. Then see if I can somehow acquire some more. I had thought to pay my decorator chap to do this as he would do it in no time however as I’m not currently working I have to do it!So for more pleasant things.Lovely walk first thing. There was a hard frost and the ground was easier to walk on through the field. Just the dog and I and 8 ducks.
May have had birthday cake for breakfast.
It was such a lovely afternoon. We’ve not had the warmth that other places in UK have had so it was delightful that the sun peaked out every now and again...bare arms may have been seen at some points on the afternoon when I was painting!Phone check in on the mother. I feel she’s not really grasping the severity of situation at times ...wanting DD1 to go and do her ironing, no, she’s just off seven planes. But she has an online shop delivery this week. So I’m glad we’d got that set up and she knows how to do it.Have some bread proving, going to do a kind of roast dinnery thing wth what’s in freezer and fridge. The dog and I sat on the garden sofa (cushionless) aaaah!Have a nice evening 😁14 -
