Amazing blanket crankie
5 for today
1) the weather this morning was beautiful - warm, sunny and dry (though it all changed by lunch time i shall hold onto the memory of the glorious walk into work)
2) cheesy slugs for lunch - a childhood fave with the children that dd2 had requested (pasta, tin of heinz tomato soup, grated cheese, simples!)
3) mum picked me up mid afternoon and we went to tesco. the joy of the academic life - if no meetings i can be flexible. spent just over £40 (keep a tally on my phone calculator) and got £6 off
4) then carried on working at home then did some tidying and cleaning and supper then
5) local for the leicester v. aston villa game. i have a colleague who is a fox and he was already there nursing his pint. 4-0, very good. I was of course interested in Justin as he is a Luton boy. Now all is crossed for Saturday bop we has preston who are going through a bad patchMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Went to emporium, quiet as usual for a Monday morning but shocked by empty shelves of painkillers and TD, not surprising though as everything is shipped in on a daily basis.
Saw my girlie, she was warm in her no fill rug so left naked for the rest of the day, being a very light grey this is not an easy decision to make!
Made bread dough, the arthritis is my hands is hampering the kneading now so am investigating stand mixers but obviously an expensive investment, any recommendations?
Trip it to feed store as change in ownership means money off this week, stocked up on chaff.
Tea was pesto halloumi with a massive salad.12 -
Only good if you don't live with Villa fans, DD!! THey are resigned to relegation but still want season tickets for their birthdays.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Forced myself to go to yoga and glad I did
2. cracked on with this chapter - it needed more work than I thought... hope that doesn't continue through the remainder as I WILL run out of time. It is, however, reading much better
3. OH, MiL and SiL came back, the latter stopped for a cuppa before heading off. They've had a nice weekend, I think.
4. OH brought leftover lasagne back with him so we had it for tea.
5. As ever, got the washing out for a few hours before the rain came but it had partially dried.
Have a monthly kicking supervisor meeting - I will NOT miss these...
I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -

Hello. A day of much weather again today! Sun...blue skies...dark skies...heavy rain. Repeat every blooming 15 minutes!
Muuuuum can you bring something to work. Really? But I did.Popped into supermarket ( because it’s so close) may have bought us an Easter egg each for 75p.
Son scrapped his car. Got a bit of money. There was no way it was ever going to pass it’s MOT and repairs would have been more than the car was worth. Do you want to pick me up? No not really. So he took his bike!Did a few things in the garden. In between the showers ! Enjoyed watching the birds.
Theres been a fire on all day and I’ve managed to keep it going! Hurrah!Managed doggy walks in between showers!Planted pumpkin seeds and sweet pea seeds. Currently filling window sills.
Parcels from DD1. For me & last weeks birthday girl.
Lainey I have a kitchenaid which I love dearly and use often and pat as I go by. I’ve had it for almost 8 years ( got it after OH’s first big surgery) and it is still going strong. It was expensive and would have been more expensive in Australia too but I rate it. It’s probably one of my most favourite things.
Pirate Pete have you actually semi retired? Good on you!8 -
ah yes vjsmum looks like Norwich is doomed, Luton grimly clinging to the finest sliver of hope
1) woke early, filled brown bin (this year we are being charged £35 for our garden waste bin so making sure i don't miss a collection!) then made kedgeree for lunch / supper
2) lift down to city campus from colleague for excellent distance learning session
3) then we went to mr l and i picked up some loose toms and apples before she dropped me off home
4) lovely walk with the boys down to the river and back by the botanics before coming back to do emails
5) then happened on hitchhiker's guide so have started aubergine sausage casserole in the slow cooker. already smelling good.

Good evening all, pleasures for yesterday...
My day off from the paid stuff. I was still up early as the HT had school but at least I had most of the day to myself. I posted some wound dressings to my friend in Japan. Her husband has had some sort of op and has a tube sticking out of his stomach. He can't get any gauze to make dressings as people have bought it all to make face masks - the shops have run out of those.
Went grocery shopping with my voucher for Mr T. I do like free stuff. I didn't buy anything that I knew I could find cheaper elsewhere. The quick cook pasta that I buy for the HT's lunches was missing but I found some in H&B that only takes slightly longer to cook
Had a chat with my next door neighbour. We both have teenage boys......nuff said
I've started making myself "to do" lists again. I used to make them before I started back at work then for some reason I stopped. The pleasure is ticking off the things that I've done
A couple of hours on project five which is coming along nicely. I may start project six tonight too as I have enough pink wool for another crochet baby blanket and it makes a change from knitting

Hello everyone, hope you are all well. Thoroughly enjoy catching up on all your posts
Today's pleasures:Started my new job today. It was great and I think I might enjoy it.
Called my mum, she’s had a lovely few days in Belgium with my Dad for her birthday and is pleased to be able to tick Brugge off her bucket list
Had a really busy day. I’ve felt so productive and like I’ve got my life together...until tomorrow at least!
Spag bol for tea. Mr Unicorn is still off work and is making himself very useful around the house….I could get used to this!
Completed a online course for work that has been hanging over my head for days. I will need to start on another tomorrow but I’m glad I’ve got this one out the way
Spent the evening looking at some lovely Instagram accounts. I've recently had an Instagram cull and now only look at ones that are positive and have nice crafty ideas that I say I could do but never quite get round to. Still they're nice to look at.
Early bed tonight - I had an awful sleep last night as I was so anxious about today but I know I’ll sleep much better tonight

Chunicorn, aw glad it sounds like a lovely first day.
1 I de cluttered a cupboard of inherited books I couldn’t bear to let go of at the time, but they must go now as they aren’t what we need, an small example about 10 fifty year old books of plants isn’t comparable to todays. I have kept about 10 books back on weird and wonderful things. I also sorted 2 boxes of both glass and bottles, the thing is we don’t really drink, we have halved the things, given away 2 boxes of glasses and kept some collectable useable ones. As for drinks we have kept a bottle of brandy, baileys and scotch and Bacardi. But we don’t drink at home so will have to remember to take one or 2 when we go away.
2 DH well hasn’t hinted so much as downright said what he wants for a birthday present, it’s a drill set from screwfix on offer, but he could do with it now, his current one has lasted about 15 years and he’s fixed it so many times now, I just know that he will forget so I need to plan some little presents as well.
3 Spent time writing a cover letter to match with a job specification, and sent it off, I am hoping there was also a big sign when I noticed and it’s not why I applied as I didn’t know but the office is local, which would be lovely.
4 It feels extravagant to have ordered in last night but there’s so much there’s plenty of leftovers for 2 more dinners tonight, the local chap who delivered was smitten when our deaf ferret was just so curious and had to check the open door out.
I’m banking 5 as the night took a bad turn, we have just had to leave our 7 month old ferret at the emergency vets, and we are worried sick. She is going by vet ambulance to our vets in the morning, I may just comfort eat my way through the night. She’s had an ultrasound, painkillers, subcuts and will have more throu the night so in the right place I guess for tonight.
