Welcome welcome Chunicorn ☺️
Great video DD, such handsome chaps! I’ve joined a Spaniel rescue page on buck of face as we are seriously considering a pal for our girl.....
For yesterday,
Ignored the siren call of the stables and cleaned my house, top to bottom, not quite spring cleaning but close..
Capt S had a tricky meeting in the morning and was clearly worried when he left for work, popped a couple of Bach pastilles in his pocket and they helped.
He came home for lunch so made a batch of spicy parsnip soup.
Popped down to the GC for bird seed in the afternoon and then did some research on t’internet for middle niece’s 21st birthday pressie, successful and item ordered.
Watched fav programme about the V&A, they were repairing Shakespeare’s first folio, oh the pressure!9 -
mhagster said:cranky I think I’m a bit similar in that I’m grateful for what I still do have and by making simpler lifestyle choices still manage.
Anyhow, yesterdays pleasures....
I expected the car to need scraping when I saw the frost on the grass and on the roof of the house over the way. It didn't.
Went to work - everyone in a fairly good mood and were all happy to leave me to wash dishes. The steam worked it's usual magic and I felt much better by home time. We were busy too which makes time go faster.
Home to one boy and his cat. Both pleased to see me (feeding time for both) and the HT was strangely enthusiastic about meeting his new tutor.
Tutor visit went very well. Short chat about who I knew in his family then I came upstairs to work on project four while they did maths. An hour later a happy HT claimed to know much more about ratios than he did at the start.
A hot bath (more steam), pjs and a read of my book in bed before a fairly decent night's sleep.10 -

Painful massage 😣 but feel a lot better now 🙂
Sm not too crowded & a good job I bought a 12 pack of toilet roll a few days ago as the shelves were empty 😱
Lovely chat with next door neighbour - found out her parents retired to SW France not too far from where my parents & DSis lived. Chatted about all things French.

It’s Friday (hurrah) and the fire is on. It’s just got proper dark at almost seven o’clock so stretchy stretchy days.
Muuuum can you wait in for a parcel (third attempt at delivery) it will between 9-1 or as it happens 5.55pm! Slightly growling at that! However it meant I didn’t go out and spend any money!
Kitchen tidied and all downstairs floors washed and hoovered. Staircase hoovered and my room hoovered and loads of dry laundry sorted into appropriate piles.More motherly growling at the state of the spare room ! Waaah! Son had hung his tent up to dry ( was soaked last week) and despite me saying everyday for last four to please deal with it it wasn’t done till this morning! And left behind half of the forest he’d camped in. A blooming load of pine needles and mud! Anyway it’s now tidy.Caught up on soaps as I hadn’t seen any this week .Lovely chat with DD1 this morning about her latest adventures.Admired my flowers.
Been a bit dry and a bit wet but hung towels out on line so they too are a bit wet but a bit dry!11 -
Evening all
Pleasures for today
1. Beautiful spring like day - washing hung out and nearly dry when I took it in
2. OH did the shopping - he's being gradually trained. We stocked up a little, not so much due to corona as people panicking over corona. Which of course means we've added to the panic
3. SiL and MiL came for lunch. It's MiL's 88th birthday today. I don't think I've actually ever known many people as old as 88! OH and his sister have taken her away for the weekend.
4. Sent my last chapter off to supervisors in prep for TUesday's meeting. Back to chapter 1 for editing now...
5. About to go and watch Vera. I must be ill cos I don't want any gin...
Have a good evening all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
Last night, at about 8pm, we had a Moorehen crash landed in the garden, we put some food out in the hope of keeping fish in the pond, and it lodged for the night in one of our plant pots, we checked the camera and garden this morning, basically at 4am on the dot it decided it had recovered and flew off.
1 I woke up in a vast amount of pain with bursitis in my hip, I admit I had half a piece of fruit to be able to take strong painkillers and went back to bed for a few hours when I woke again it was at least walkable on.
2 I baked up some oat and cranberry cupcakes but with a butter icing topping, some oat biscuits, and the batter for mini toad in the holes later.
3 I listed a few things for sale on fb.
4 Dinner was mini toad in the hole with greens.
5 In the warm and it was nice to see some sunshine.

2) another colleague had brought in hm scones, clotted cream and jam. be rude not to
3) then worked solidly till 9 (ok might have sneaked another scone). so a long day but lots done

Ohh DundeeDoll scone, jam and clotted cream sounds amazing!
Pleasures for Friday:
The sun was shining and I remembered how awesome I always feel when the weather is nice. It’s been one long winter and I cannot wait to see the back of it. Spring is just around the corner folks!
I almost managed to finish my to do list. One day I will complete my daily to do list and that will be just wonderful but until then I’ll settle for almost completing it. I really should just put less things on it that way I’ll always finish it but each morning I always seem to think I have about 30 hours in the day to get things done.
Mr Unicorn made tea tonight (that confirms that he’s definitely not feeling himself!) sausage, egg, chips and beans. It was rather delicious!
Found out I start my new (2nd) job on Tuesday. I was feeling rather anxious about it then got a call from the lady who will be looking after me. She seems so lovely and put me right at ease. I’m still a bit nervous but feeling slightly better about it now.
Bought 2 new fitted sheets in Asda today - bargain at £3.50 each.
