Hello. I’ve done the teenage years x three & survived! All in their twenties now.
Bit of a mad dash kind of day. Up early (though don’t think I was awake through the night) listened to some voice messages DD1 had sent about her day.Birthday gifts for birthday girl and FaceTime with DD1 so she was part of it.Lovely dog walk.
Had to pop into work as I knew they had gifts for her.
Then had to pick up the mother to go to doctor. Then went to my old work for lunch which was nice & a few chitchats with old colleagues (10 years since I left)
Picked up some compost which GN helped me plant my apple trees later.
Home. Quick walk. Then out for back massage. Many knots in my shoulders. Ouch.
Then another quick walk with doggy then home for birthday tea stuff. Niecelys & DD2 friend came.Trees planted. Hurrah.
watching The Stranger on Netflix. Anyone else? It’s good.10 -
Get well soon, VJsmum. My housemate at Uni had shingles - just before starting his PhD!
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Messages from bigger son and he might come home for 4 days later this month. He wants his bike!
3) Hens OK.
4) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.
5) Saw my school friend for a cup of tea.
6) Have done a security audit thing for the museum then tried again to do an audience development plan. Not my thing at all so using The Audience Agency. Not sure they are helping!

Ouchie VJS, hope you feel better soon.
The Stranger is on our list Mhags.
For yesterday,
Worked my girlie on the lunge and apart from a couple of indignant snorts towards a couple of workmen who were daring to chip wood in her vicinity she was good for her Mum.
Spent time in the garden, pulling up a few weeds and admiring all the green buds & shoots.
Took small dog for a walk around the fields and just got home as the heavens opened.
Buttered Hot Cross Bun with a cup of tea.
Made a phone call had been putting off, all sorted now and a list made.
Use up evening meal of Frittata with roasted veg.12 -
A chilly Good Morning to all - & has brought a lazy end-of-brekkie cappuccino back to bed, before a dash to charity+debrief, then solid Spits prep, with fingers x'd.
Still thinking about Scottish Opera's amazing Nixon in China production - and know I'll forever be glad I went.
1. The rugby family, with Club doing what this embodies. More sorting with Charity meant & took young person to training last night, where he was soon gifted new state-of-art boots!:-), which neither of us could believe. We'd diverted via his village to collect mouthguard and Welsh rugby WC top(gift from his Dad - so possible tiny step start of rapprochement. To clarify - our young people are not in one of our houses because they were/are good boys and girls, but because we/some police/judges/Court/prison officers see a 1st or 2nd or 3rd chance they WILL be)
After Friday and Saturday hiccups, not terminal but close, hefty &+ABs-style last chance spelling out done.
D has worked pretty well at CS every day this week. Last night he was straight on, thrown in at deep end with the 1sts!!! Well, he kept up, did some good things, some good footwork, neat tackling, assessment in my hearing by our now permanent new Head of Rugby Development and 1st XV Coach. Not waffle.

We are so glad!!!
D was a winger in school rugby and was texted, even before training, to say he's playing for Club on Saturday! Not sure which level, but we both thought he'd have to raise fitness+skills level before any match play. Such a chance:-) The grazed forearm is a source of pride:-)))
vl and mrs lw, really wanted you both to read about this:-) Probably osps 1-5 in this &ramble.
2. Feeling better. Had better admit googling of c-virus symptoms for various reasons.
3. Crazy busy CS Monday but have now sorted, cleaned and valued/priced some interesting modern silver jewellery. Will take in shortly - the mantra: if it can't be seen, it can't be sold.
4. Of course, took back the washed and ironed rugby club teatowels:-)....and a mended (eventually) club apron, using new JL sewing machine for 1st time. Had to work it out first:-) It's been sitting untouched in box for nearly a year - bought for £99 during a JL promotion. Will donate my 1980s Singer today, bringing & down to 2 sewing machines:-) New one feels good on 1st blush.
INSTRUCTION TO SELF: READ MANUAL. Just because you've been sewing and machine-sewing for over 60 years doesn't mean......
5. New Bank card arrived yesterday, v.v.v. quickly. Only notified lost on Sunday. That one will turn up, but ok now.

Frith, how will son get bike to France? Excellent idea that he should and will embed him even further before Tour de France.
DfV and mhags, brave hearts and good hearts and strong ones. You are all of these.
Right now, (politics this time)we are strongly with one of our young number whose partner's surgery a fortnight ago, to (possibly) see her out of wheelchair by summer (her stated aim) has seen her back in Addenbrookes 3 times since. He so loves her, and she him, while he is also driven as a hardworking Union Secretary....neither yet 30.

Beautiful double daffs DD.
Hope the shingles are not too painful VJM. Thinking of your boy.
Thoughts too to Mhags &Suffolk Sue.
Struggled last few days at the sudden loss of a very good friend. He had a cardiac arrest and his lovely family and indeed his friends are trying to cope with this. Managed to find 5.
Are you still going to the Mill BP?
1. Slight green haze on the shrubs in the garden. Spring is coming.
2. Help and concern from workmates.
3. Gas boiler pilot light went out. Managed to relight myself. Service is due soon so fingers crossed.
4. Greenhouse was delivered and managed to put the glass in the shed. Hope the wild winds have ceased and can have it built soon.
5. Our charity money going to the Beatson in Glasgow. Amazing place.

Dear me. I do apologise, what with birthdays & ebay & relations I have omitted to post & yet reading I get a contact high of the good stuff. Plus a few reminders that real life has teeth.Frith - clawed by a brassiere - those hooks look so innocent til they turn on you & then, yikes. Can't imagine why this four day to collect bike trip seems to have a slight whiff of and bonus laundry.VJsmum - I do hope your son is feeling better soon and that helps the shingles return to whatever universe they inhabit. It's not the PhD, I think but Everything plus PhD. The whole unceasing raffle over this virus is enough to sap the strength of the strongest!mhagster - oh anniversaries. Love how you cope across continents. Dead right to have a massage after planting trees!SuffolkSue - may the hoist cooperate & help you both.juliettet - it's a very nasty shock. (Love your avatar by the way!) Huge congratulations on pilot light & hopes for greenhouse.DundeeDoll- that wouldn't by any chance be a Pearsons jug, would it? Not that a Chesterfield pottery had a monopoly on such, just they made a lot of them. Smashing daffs!LaineyT - is it technically hot cross bun season? I thought they were too delicious for Lent!ampersand - plural digits crossed for you for Spits, chortling over sewing machines & reading the manual & wishing all strength to Addenb' couple.BoP - you remind me of Real Food. We have lapsed & must try harder <adds snorkers to list>.OS Pleasures recentlyDespite 6 days planning to get eBay data sorted today Himself got part of one thing written as he didn’t want to chuck the young engineer off amazon prime... yes we could do with the money but I’m not arguing the priorities - sons are cherished. [Has since more or less made up for it. Keeps missing the FVF weekends, but is getting the hang of the process.]First cup of tea of the day!Aw, engineer settling down for a masterclass with Wallace & Gromit...Sewing my lads badges to his scout blanket. Through tears, but it’s right, it’s proper, it’s needful. It’s painful, but it’s comforting too. One more tape & it’s sorted.QI, the Bond theme & the unlucky sneeze - as the corona virus spreads, that gets almost funnier. The audience singing was glorious!Youngest using coat hanger as tool to aid lacing high leg combat boots for helping me get the shopping...Wonderful what you don’t notice - there are clumps of moss (& little grasses growing up from them) on some window frames! Pondering how to scrape them clear without damaging the frames or needing ladders....Waved to the tailor! Out early as I cleared snow off my car to come in to get my laptop. Now the weather can be as it chooses as I can choose to work at home.Emptied the car of recycling & rubbish & found someone had tossed a McDonald’s cup with bean sticker in. Recycled that, too!As an impressionable young lass, I was mightily smitten by Michael Wood, the startlingly young historian. Decades later, his voice still brings learning, wisdom, a well told tale, even if the blond is now streaked with grey. That he’s telling of Edward’s fearsomely devout & competent sister Æthelflæd Alfred’s daughter who rebuilt Roman towns for her people & their well-being, makes it still more riveting!Middleson’s birthday! We got him the noise cancelling headphones he wanted (will he Ever hear us calling him for meals?!) His birthday card was a breakfast table text with the usual gift cake etc emojis - seems odd not to have one you can bite but there’s progress.I love spending time with godfather & his mum - the food is delicious (& the dishwasher effective) & I am encouraged to sit by the fire & knit along with mother as it allows godfather a chance to escape his caring responsibilities. The charity shop finds are good too, so the chaps are happy.Ah, youngest in the room with us (as boiler gone [pilot light went out]) - haven’t heard him & his father snoring together in years. [Next morning mentioned it & they howled with laughter seems I, too, snore - "like Verdun"]Home! There’s no place like it.The restorative brew can sometimes be a bit hot - I rashly gulped several needed draughts down then found I had hiccups. At which my chaps laugh....Hunkered down to watch Picard en famille - catching up on a fortnight’s worth, having a belated birthday takeaway - good times. Still another ‘First’ but it was to be expected. The merciless optimism of the morning songbirds. They’re both inspirational & a reminder that things could be worse. The winds & rain could be so loud, I couldn’t hear them.
Contact with old family friend who now runs a sanctuary for hedgehogs, so “heat pad & medicine” for the last of his ~50 responsibilities was at 11.30 pm. Tough hours! Funny to think of that externally very tough nut (with the very British Teeth) having such a gentle hand pipette feeding...My father has dropped plans to go to Doha, got his air ticket duty refunded & heard from the Quatari authorities that since the gathering was off by their decree, all tickets will be refunded. [Awed, he chuckled he may even make a profit (which would be Wrong - there are days my father bewilders me.)]I love some street names, "Longmeanygate" is definitely one!Blinking virus - seems the handshake is fading & the hug is right off - this is going to cramp my style at the memorial service something severe - I was counting on Lots of hugs!Right. Wishing restored & rebuilt health strength courage & hugs to all as have need, may abundant soap & water (to Happy Birthday if you wish, I find "Another one bites the Dust" & "Don't fear the Reaper" just fine for time & helpful in maintaining a reputation for being [well scrubbed] eccentric) work to keep the rugby & other entertainments going & I'll try to post again soon.13 -

I wanna be in the room where it happens12 -
Vjsmum, glad there is treatment available.SSue thinking of you.So sorry Julietet, the sudden loss is very hard to deal with.
I need to get back in the habit of posting.
1 It was a day for running errands for local ones a doc apt for me, walked to physio with DH while I went for bloods.
2 Did a tip run with 10 bags of garden rubbish.
3 From the tip over the bridge to pick up 3 fence panels we won from the auction site for ten pounds, decided to make use of the toll charge and dropped into the shops also.
4 We didn’t need much but did the round robin. In true mse style I have all the receipts to track and I’m enjoying the feeling of control at least.
5 We picked up fish and chips for dinner, which was lovely.
