Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Another day of freelance stuff ticked off. It's not a good atmosphere there.
2) Hens OK.
3) Child psychologist came back at long last to finish assessments for the report that will confirm smaller son is still as disabled as he was at school last year. I did say she had left it so long that it is now too late to enter him for GCSEs this year. No change of expression from her.
4) Watched TV
5) Did quite a lot of Duolingo Welsh. Have only missed 3 days so far this year.
6) On a roll in University Challenge when one of the Norman churches in the questions can be seen from our village! Also knew Kilpeck church (Herefordshire).

1. I too managed to answer a couple of questions on University Challenge.
2. Colleague first day back from maternity leave. I will only see her on Wednesday 's from now on but she helps the atmosphere a fair bit.
3. Properly light when I arrived home from work and had a coffee in the garden whilst liking at all the spring bulbs growing.
4. DS2 cooked tea which was tasty.
5. A chat with DS2 and then with DS1.11 -

Driving home and listening to this, heart breaking and uplifting at same time:

Best wishes to those who are poorly or sad
for today:
swimming - managed 40 lengths despite aching back - tell myself it might help
visit to see a friend who has had a hip replacement and admire the lovely view from her house - red kite soaring above and later a rainbow
out to a lovely village pub with above friend and another friend - delicious home cooked chicken and pancetta pie
home to find some progress on the mammoth kitchen project - lovely oak worktops oiled and in situ
sweet dreams all 😊11 -
sorry to hear that vjmum but re. the PhD, it's a tough tough slog but the view is well worth the climb.
For me today focussing very much on mse
1) decluttering books, found next week's book club book which i had just borrowed from the library. emailed round the group in case anyone was still in need of a copy - my colleague up at the hospital was so i left it in a named envelope at reception for her
2) lunch was from Jack Monroe site. I had some cheese left over from a church function (so free) and found a recipe for pasta, cheese and mushy peas. Just happened to win a tin some time ago in a hamper - not keen on mushy peas but omg the recipe was so good for comfort food. At just the cost of the pasta and cooking. the other half (the recipe says feeds four but her boy was very wee at the time, don't judge) is in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch
3) vegan friend has gone to america for 2 weeks, leaving an empty almost full carton of oat milk. noone else in the office drinks it. so transferred it to empty orange squash container and have brought home. Pancakes
4) then after work went to the climate challenge group meeting. They also run a community fridge. Paid it a visit before the meeting as a bit peckish - a banana was just what i needed. Also took an M&S loaf of sourdough. For those not familiar with a community fridge, supermarkets donate their surplus just in date perishables (so not able to donate to food bank) and people help themselves, weighing and noting what they've taken - the aim is to prevent land fill.
5) after a good meeting the organiser brought out bunches of flowers which had been donated so here are my daffodils, in a jug i found while decluttering a cupboard
