Ooh I do like your little house on your drawers VJsmum
I am stuffed! Full of food. Not long in from dinner out.
A worky day. Up early. Messages from DD1. Quick dog walk just far enough until business is done.Lovely walk to work. Much busy to-ing and fro-ing of lots of birds in the hedgerows. Beautiful spring flowers in gardens, lovely sunrise.
Busy day. Decent tips. A few laughs along the way.Finished up an hour early as was going out and I’d already tidied in the kitchen. Was not going to turn it down! DD2 came and collected me...she needed a vent! The granny had not been in a good mood! Oh dear. Then a bit of a mad dash to get home, dog walked , showered, changed and in to town. One of DD1 friends from Australia was over here (randomly coming to our town for a football match tonight) so we met them and went for a lovely dinner. So, so nice to catch up with her and meet her partner for the first time. ( nice chap)
cold and sparkly outside.11 -
DigForVictory said:DundeeDoll- that wouldn't by any chance be a Pearsons jug, would it? Not that a Chesterfield pottery had a monopoly on such, just they made a lot of them. Smashing daffs!

In weird news, smaller son's high school (marvellous for 3 years, new management, appalling for 2 years) is all over the local papers and internet as it has been crucified in its Ofsted for its draconian behaviour policy, the failing relationship between staff, pupils and parents and its poor treatment of pupils with SEND - you don't say!!!

D4V........so lovely to hear your voice. Don't know what you do to me but I have gone from imagining you as a high-browed Edwardian lady in riding habit topped with Viking breastplate..............to Tinkerbell whizzing about then exhausted, sleeping and snoring loudly whilst little boys giggle in the background. Don't ask 'cos I don't know !
Pleasures for today. Got printer working. Took Tiggy for long walk and hip didn't complain once. Dinner was leftovers from last night so no cooking as such. Why do things like casseroles or even sauce for pasta always taste better the next day ? Or so it seems.
Here is one for the books..........I have a new postie and he isn't afraid of dogs !
to one and all, sweet dreams

For yesterday,
A goldfinch taking a drink from the water feature, pretty little bird.
It was warm enough in the sunshine to remove my jacket whilst long-reining equine girlie, I slung it over the gate but she saw this as a good excuse to go through my pockets whilst passing in the hope of finding treats.
Hay delivery at the yard and I helped the old boy by shoving the bales of the back of the trailer, they were of the big, round variety and could see he was struggling a tad. They smelt gorgeous.
More admin chores and the pleasure of ticking these off that list.
Caught up with Only Connect but only managed a couple of answers between us.12 -
Last week I saw this quote “In a society that has you counting money, lbs, calories and steps, be a rebel and count your blessings instead” and it really made me stop and think. Since then I’ve been writing down all the nice things that have happened and have noticed that in just a week I have a bit of a brighter outlook. Yesterday I stumbled across this thread and you lovely lot. What an amazing, inspiring group of people you all are. I’m so sorry that many of you are having a rubbish time but it was so heartwarming that you still look out for each other and appreciate all the good things in life. As Dumbledore says “happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”
I would love to join you if I may? Here are some pleasures from yesterday:
Had a wander round the shops just as they were opening so it was really quiet. I got a lovely pair of shorts for summer with a beautiful giraffe print. A few things I tried on didn’t quite fit (I’m at that stage where an 18 is often a bit snug but a 20 is too big, so I’m basically a size 19!) but feeling confident that will change soon. I also got a lovely top from the charity shop and a couple of books.
I had a nice snooze on the couch with my heated throw. I’ll probably mention this every day as it keeps me so cosy and I love it so much.
1st week back at chub club and I lost 4.5lbs! It was also taster night and everyone made something and brought it in so I now have a couple of new recipe ideas to try.
Dinner at my parents - it was supposed to be my turn to cook but my mum kindly did it instead. We had pork chops which were so moist and delicious, she made a much better job than I would have as mine always tend to be quite dry.
The best welcome from my wee dog (she lives at my parents so only see her once or twice a week). She’s had her haircut and has a new lease of life as she was definitely getting depressed last week.
Still thinking about my wonderful friend who got engaged on Monday. I’m so happy for her and excited about her new adventures in life.
Finding MSE again. I was on here a long time ago under a different username and I had forgotten how wonderful this community is. I’ve also joined the 20 20’s in 2020 challenge as well to hopeful help me along ticking things off that I wanted to achieve this year.

Suffolksue, good to hear all is in place as it should be. Now just enjoy each moment together, poignant moments obviously, but no need to watch the clock or stick to schedules, just go with the flow.
My pleasures yesterday...
Gym session, with short walk in the sunshine there and back.
Dog walk in the park, again in sunshine.
Tidying session in back garden, noting the small clump of cheeky purple crocuses and the growth on fruits trees and flowering shrubs. Dog charging around with her football, kitten learning to climb trees in between sitting on garden bench basking in the sun.
Practising choir song for next week, More Than Words. Pretty song but words flow in a slightly odd way that takes a bit of getting used to.
Burger with salad and oven-fried potatoes, potatoes a recipe from the Tightwad Gazette. They were delicious, definitely having them again. I have TG books 1,2 and 3 and have just started re-reading them.
Stayed up late to watch the final episodes of a Netflix series. Stayed up late because I could, I didn't have to be up early today. There are no appointments today, no obligations so I shall just mosey on down to the gym again, walk the dog, carry on pottering in the garden while we have this lovely sunshine.....One life - your life - live it!12 -
Good morning all, sorry I've been M.I.A. I've had a cold and I have asthma which only kicks off when I have a cold virus so I've had better weeks
Pleasures for yesterday and may do a few extra that crept into the week....
Work yesterday - spending 4 hours with my head over a sink of hot water washing dishes (and scrubbing metal teapots clean) did wonders for my cold and asthma as it always does. I came out of work feeling much better than when I went in. Back again today for more steam
It's the HT's exam week. He is not stressed in the slightest (that's the pleasure). A bit more concern may be appropriate as so far he has borrowed a pen from an invigilator, from his friend (that one didn't work) and from his English teacher. I have asked him every morning if he has enough pens etc.
I have hired a maths tutor for the HT as school are not being at all helpful. They couldn't seem to see why he wants a decent grade in his maths GCSE at all. The tutor is my friend's nephew which is why the HT has agreed (he has dyscalculia so struggles). The HT gets a pension every month from the M.O.D. while he's in education so that will pay for his tutor luckily. We have a year to make a difference.
Butter chicken from the Mowgli book for tea last night. I could taste it in spite of my cold. Yum.
Did a freezer inventory. Pleasure is knowing what is in the freezer for at least the next week. If only I could keep up with it.....Other pleasure was being able to afford to do a bit of shopping to fill the gaps in what I felt should be in the freezer.
My warm house and my comfy bed, both of which I have spent more time in than usual this week. I may have been widowed fairly young and left to bring up the HT on my own but I never, ever lose track of how lucky I still am. House is paid for, car is paid for and I have my best friend who will either back me up or tell me why he thinks I'm wrong if I ask his opinion about things that are happening with my HT (the maths tutor was a yes by the way).
DfV and SSue biggest cyber hugs to both of you (the non-virus kind).
