Seemed to spend the day running DS1 about - to take his car to the garage and then to collect it and then to take him to station.
He still isn't home! Hopefully he is at a friends house.
1. Avoiding worst of rain when out and about.
2. Food shopping a reasonable price and stuck to my list.
3. More painting done.
4. Back is improving and still doing exercises for it.
5. Relaxing evening.13 -
For yesterday,
Trip over to yard to restock carrots, Capt S came too and we walked out to the fields to see girlie. What is it about animals that they seem to gravitate to those who are more nervous, my beloved gulped and made a comment about how bigger she seemed out of her stable before scooting behind the safety of her gate.
We left just as the rain started and it continued for much of the day, enough now.
Out to lunch with DB, good pub grub and a gratifying catch up on each other’s lives.
A jam jar full of bright yellow daffs.
A friend kindly sent a list of desirable stock items and spent an enjoyable half an hour checking ours, all is well.14 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday...
The HT had an inset day and I didn't have work so no need to go out in the wind and rain
Had a chat with my sister - I now have project 4 which is a blanket for the new baby. It will overtake projects 2 and 3 and be finished sooner as it is smaller (pram size whereas 2 and 3 are bed sized)
Good chat with the HT about his upcoming exams and about next year's GCSEs. Both of us feeling more positive
Lasagne for dinner, yum
Went through my wool stash and found enough wool in the right colours for project 4 so started straight away
SSue Thinking of you both. I remember thinking after my husband died that he wouldn't have wanted to live as an invalid. It's such a hard thing that you're facing and I'm in awe of the courage shown by both of you

Yesterday was a better day - thanks for all your kind comments
Sue, thinking of you
Pleasures for yesterday
1. a full night's sleep - that's better
2. Having a chat with DS about the fact he appeared to be dismissing it all as no big deal. I asked him to put himself in my shoes and said that how his head is, is how mine can be so imagine what I was thinking. He said he didn't mean it like that - just would like things to be back to normal and he didn't want special treatment. I can do that.
3. Finished a draft of my conclusions - but it still isn't very good.
4. Fish for tea - brain food!
5. Dishwasher is mended! Hurrah!
Have a good afternoon and evening all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -

Pleasures experienced and anticipated for today.
Seeing a little patch of purple crocuses in the garden. They come out every year but it's still a lovely surprise when I see them.
Home made lemonade using the Sodastream. A little bland so I will increase the amount of lemons and sugar next time, but still a worthwhile experiment.
Blue skies and sunshine at present, so took the opportunity to wash off some patches of dirt from the car - the rain that's on its way can complete the car wash.
A tabby and white kitten all cocky because he managed to climb on the roof of the garden shed. He's back down again now, nicking the patio cat's dry cat food.
Rump steak for dinner tonight. I will jazz up some kale and Brussels sprouts to go with it and be all smug because I am eating up my greens.
Trying out a new Yankee Candle votive candle tonight, Fresh Cut Roses. One life - your life - live it!16 -
Evening all
Suffolk Sue, am sending peaceful hugs your way and to anyone else in need right now.
Five pleasures for recently:
1. I've managed to get back on to the forum at last after a bit of a struggle but without having to change my name.(But where have all the lovely old emojis gone?)
2. Things are gently stepping up a notch here but are ok at the moment. DM is very much frailer and has lost her mobility completely but we are getting by with things like choc ices in bed for breakfast and crumpets for lunch. Her previously healthy eating seems to be being replaced with just eating anything that will go down!
3. My lovely, oldest, best-most friend who is being an absolute rock and makes me laugh so much.
4. DS1 visiting today. We managed to have a very long chat this afternoon while DM slept... made plans... caught up on news...
5. Catching up on Call the Midwife and University Challenge.
Sweet dreams

point for us bop in the 91st minute and boy do we need it!
1) setting a reminder when the library told me my book was in to pick it up this morning. i would have forgotten, and it's for friday's book club!
2) garden centre with mum. We both belong to their club which entitles us to 2 'free' hot drinks a month. phoned her up to point out we hadn't used February's. And now we have
3) on the way, taking 10 bags of books to the Oxfam book shop - they kindly emptied the canvas bags so all ready to fill again. Also 3 bags to the CS and 1 to the recycling textiles bin - decluttering going well
4) she dropped me off at dd2's guides 90th birthday party. had long chat with couple of friends there (both ex work colleagues)
5) just back from Met Agrippina. Absolutely fantastic. gbf couldn't go so I gave his ticket to mum as a thank-you for the lift earlier

For today:
meet up with old friend for a cuppa and a cheese scone at M&S
early dinner out with OH using a gift card I had from son for Christmas - very nice
accompanied by a free bottle of Prosecco 🍾🥂courtesy of the pub chain for my recent birthday
couldn't drink the whole bottle so passed it on to another table
my final birthday treat of seeing the wonderful Paul Carrack in concert - what a fantastic show 😊😊😊😊😊13 -
Good to hear from you, Broomstick. That could be my food any day!
Pleasures for today (Saturday).
1) A lie in.
2) Hens OK.
3) Gave the bathroom a proper clean. Perhaps you all clean all the walls and paintwork every time you clean the bathroom - don't tell me if this is the case!
4) Popped to Sainsburys with smaller son.
5) It was so nice to drive over the bridge! Online, one man said he'd driven over, gone round the church, and driven back the other way as he was over excited! More rain and high winds so it may flood again yet (well, it still is flooded up the flood defences).
6) Made fish cakes for tea that turned out well, with a surprise cheese and lemon bit in the centre.
7) Watched Casualty.
