& is in avoidance mode for returning to &squat. Weather has caused hustings cancellation, but earlier found turned-in mirror pulled out and vandalised - sharp object mark shows how/where breakage was done. Heard a likely sound last night after rtn from rugby. Perhaps that was it.

1. Family communion with a fit and dandy centenarian, regular in congregation, sharing his cake and cards from Brenda - 2! - the other for 75th wedding anniversary.
2 Road tax refund chq rcvd, previous Meriva - all the sixes: £66.66 :-)
3. Unexpected out-of-context meeting in The Alma with someone yesterday - a rugby virgin, as he called himself:-) ... but quickly involved. Also spoke of Irish grandfather so & passed on How To links re: passport.
4. Gave vicar latest No Palm Oil Nutella-like spread found in Calais. & finds a new something every trip, just a token, for her particular tastebuds:-) - anything Nutella-y.
5. New fence panels are waving, a bit, but were still up when & left for 11h service. Now?.....on verra.

It can be a reading afternoon with intermittent checks outside - more Isobel Dalhousie.
Just seeing a flock of c. 200 wood pigeons straight down out back on new-ploughed land. They're hoovering along, heads down, en bloc et en masse. Looks very rehearsed and regimented.

vjm - looked up Amdro, intriguing. Impressive and likeable chap. Liked reason for Amdro name, too:-)

Pleasures yesterday......
Dog running around after her ball in the park, she has so much energy and joie de vivre.
Good session practising songs for concert next week.
Not so good - summoned to help neighbour who had fallen off a chair onto the concrete patio. I did a brief neuro assessment on her, no apparent spinal damage but a massive lump on her head. I advised we should get her checked out in A & E. We were there two and a half hours, not bad considering she walked into the unit. Doctor gave her a thorough checking over and agreed she could go back home seeing as she had her husband and teenage daughters at home, and they could keep an eye open for any signs of the head injury worsening (she's fine today, just sore head and backside).
Surprise weekend visit by son, lovely to see him.
Indian takeaway for dinner provided by grateful neighbours.
Resident animals snuggling up to me at night. One life - your life - live it!16 -

Hello from land of much wind and rain and a recent hail downpour that son had to go out and rescue daughter and car.I’ve been very labyrinthitis-y past few days. Mornings always the worst. But particularly yukky this morning. But DD2 and I went out in her car, had a very lovely breakfast at a new place in town...all very nice until I knocked over a glass which went everywhere ! Though the waitress was very lovely about it.Then nipped into the M supermarket. Wanted a houseplant so bought a RTC cala Lily. And a little tub of primroses. Met a friend on way out and had a blether.Home for an hour then son drove me (in his filthy muddy car) to pick up a couple of lamps that someone was selling on gumtree. Very beautiful house! Then it was time to go to the mothers . Who was in a bit better tid than the other day. Chatted to one of her neighbours on way home. Then popped into my friends for 10 minutes to say hello and left an hour later. Rather rainy on walk home. Was literally just in the door and DD called to ask if her brother was in ( he was tending a fire and we have no mobile signal in the extension) someone had sped past her on a roundabout and she’d clipped the kerb of centre of roundabout rather than be hit by him. So he went to her aid just as the ground was white with hail.So I hoovered and mopped the floors whilst they were out. She said I need a cuddle. I said I need a daughter that comes home safely. There’s a chunk of plastic broken from the rear of car. Sigh! But she’s safe.17

welcome armchairs
1) woke early, moved bonfire wood back to my back garden. i will do it in my firepit when the worst of Ciara is done
2) bacon and tomato sarnie for breakfast
3) wasn't going to get home for lunch so packed lunch which i ate in a blissfully warm sunday school room
4) after a very good talk at the botanic gardens very windy walk with the boys
5) lovely choral evensong. asked if would do the reading - yes but what is it - it's up on the lectionary. great, rather long but no strange words. When i got to my reading the reading on the lectionary was totally different - shorter but lots of difficult words. hmmm. and the bishop presiding too (though he is a lovely lovely bish). seem to have got away with it, but goodness what a shock! now home watching call the midwifeMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For Sunday:
surviving the storm - 2 fence panels down and water coming in where work is being done in kitchen!
super strong son moved the fence panels out of harms way and said he will fit 2 new ones when he is back from working in Edinburgh. He is driving up to Edinburgh from Herts towing a 9 foot high trailer at 3 a.m. tomorrow morning! I hope the wind dies down.
the washing machine decided to pack up amid the chaos but friend let me do a wash load at hers
makeshift dinner in slow cooker was rather yummy spicy meatballs, snorkers and chickpeas
the lovely Monty Halls is back on tv tonight in the Galapagos 😊

Cannot really read posts on my laptop, but here goes. All the signatures and other info are somehow superimposed over all your posts and there are acres of plain white to the right of the text.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son got back to work OK, missing floods, fallen trees etc. Uphill neighbour's trees fell into the next neighbour up's garden so they were out with a chainsaw this afternoon. Weirdly, trees fell down all round my sister's village, blocking every road out!
3) Did hoovering and dusting of bedrooms and landing.
4) Watched TV.
5) DuoLingo was "weather" today! Dw i ddim yn hoffi'r tywydd stormus!

For yesterday,
A wild and woolly day so hatches battened down.
Up early and got a beef brisket in the slow cooker as we were meant to be having lunch guests, they wisely cancelled later in the morning so lots of leftovers!
I also took the last of our apples out of the freezer and made a crumble.
No sign of the sparrow squadron but had to smile at a tiny blue t*t gamely handing onto the feeder as it swung in the wind.
Afternoon walk with small dog to assess damage, lots of small branches down but the beech trees ok, all spaniel owners know the joy of watching their dog’s ears flapping in the breeze.
Large moon rising in the sky.

Very grateful for large moon Lainey as we had a power cut from 7-3.10
how do I turn off bold ?16 -
The village lost the power for a few hours yesterday morning but strangely we were ok just a mile outside Sue.
Not sure if you are on a tablet but my IPad doesn’t like the bold either, took a while after bolding out your name to lose it again, will probably not use again!
