  • Lainey, memories of eggy bread making me smile, it was my favourite for a long while.

    Thinking of you DfV

1 The house smells lovely as a sausage casserole with herby dumplings is cooking through, feeling rather hungry now thou.

2 Fresh bedding on for us, whole house hoovered, and 4 washing loads done.

3 Our oldest fuzz is getting feisty, continuing to recover, he has come off convalescence food now and onto his normal food pureed up. There was an emergency vey visit over the weekend with another who had a kidney stone.

4 About to make some cranberry cupcakes to meet my sweet tooth.

5 Watching the daffodils starting to come out, one is now out and various others are getting ready, they will always remind me of my DM, I always pick up a plant of daffs each year and they then get planted outside in memory.

    Pleasures for today (Monday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) A bit tough at the museum this morning but all OK in the end. There are various changes needed before I can sign off paperwork and people are upset that their existing paperwork is not enough.

    3) Hens OK.

    4) Did a bit more museum paperwork in the evening.

    5) My brother came round for board games.

    For yesterday,

Not a great start as in shower when felt something ‘ping’ in my neck, very painful and the next few minutes had more profanities than the alarm clock scene in 4 Weddings.

First tried heat and then cold which worked better, I did drive into horsey town but regretted it almost immediately.

Learnt my lesson from above and rested up for a good part of day.

The lovely delivery driver who not only brought my groceries in but also unpacked them for me, good service.

Snuggles with small dog, she loved the fact her mum was on the sofa so much!
  • Spent weekend with my Mum, SIL, and 2 of my nieces. Always great but this time managed to have some quiet time with my Mum........we watched a film together then chatted into the night. She is an amazing woman, her strength, fortitude and capacity for love always stuns me. In a quiet reverberating way........I know what I mean.............

We went to an antiques fair on Saturday and we all came away with a little something. For myself I bought a Tamara de Lempicka print.............I love her work as it personifies Art Deco for me. We found a cafe where they claimed that all meals were home made. They were. The children's meals could have been for adults, portions were huge and the sausage beans and mash were to die for. Mum and I were chatting to the owner/chef and to cut a long story short we both bought sausages from him as they were not sold locally. Well, not local enough for us to buy them. He has his own secret butcher. And then as we were leaving Mum wanted to buy a piece of lemon drizzle cake, made by his wife, and he gave it to her for free. We both had some when we got home, it was gorgeous. We will be going there again.

I know that no-one will believe me but I think I saw an eagle, or something like it. I caught movement from the corner of my eye and there was this huge bird taking off..........it was only split second but I keep coming back to 'eagle'.

My 9 year old niece, when allowed, loves to go on the internet for quick craft projects. She made me a stand for my mobile (think picture/plate stand) out of glue !

    It will be treasured.

All in all my soul was nourished with family love and laughter, drives through the country and lots of horses, sheep and seagulls. And millions of dogs !

Coming home to my Tiggy was icing on the cake.

    Have a wonderful day

Not sure what part of the country you are in Bala but could have been a buzzard or maybe a red kite, both big birds especially up close.

Morning all - get well soon, Lainey.

balaboo - sounds like a lovely weekend :)

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. washing nearly dried on the line. I am concerned about my obsession with the washing :rotfl:
    2. OH gave the lawn it's first mow and some daffs are out already. There is a little bit of bud activity appearing on the bushes. Signs that spring is on its way :T
    3. avo toast with stilton for lunch... nommy. Leek and cauli chesse and autumn veg casserole (1/2 and 1/2) with red cabbage for tea.
    4. David Copperfield film with my girl. Fab - and the colourblind casting was excellent and did not jar at all. More please film makers. So many excellent films around at the moment.
    5. Finished editing my last but two chapter ahead of schedule. Conclusions today... I think it's coming together... (until it isn't again...)

Have a nice day all... more washing and more cinema for me today...
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Hi Lainey

Looking at photos I think it must have been a buzzard due to the markings under the wings which is mostly what I saw. It's wing span was massive so they must be good hunters.

About 3 years ago I bought the youngest niece a hamster (Poppy) as she had been begging me for one for ages. When I surprised her with it my oldest niece asked where her animal was.........at this point I suggested sharing but no she wanted her own animal, a horse. Before I could respond she turned to my Mum and said 'Don't worry Grandma, I won't bring it in the house !' :rotfl:

Isn't it wonderful that children think you can do/produce anything. Note to self........must win the lottery.

I want to get myself into a financial position where I can afford to buy her riding lessons. She is a child after my own heart and talks about animals non-stop. My Mum is coming round to the idea of getting a dog for the girls but only if I move down there to be co-owner. They live in Kent. Note to self........must win lottery today ! :)

VJ.........don't worry about loving washing. Because of Tiggy's eye situation I am slowly rewashing EVERYTHING (including duvets) in Non-Biological products. And I love the way it makes me feel when another load has been washed and dried.

  • The boiler is fixed and I came back from the village to hot radiators, utter bliss!

We have glass in most of the new conservatory windows and the last bits are the big door panes and they are standing inside waiting to be fitted, soon I shall have warmth in the kitchen/conservatory area too as well.

My lovely work colleagues who rang me this morning as they'd just had a large donation of baby clothes and wanted me to be able to select what we needed from it before putting it out in the shop, they really are kind.

Chat to DD1 and promise of a chat with DD2 this afternoon, love them so much.

Hot water again, we take it so much for granted but hot water and warm radiators make such a difference to comfort that I'm feeling grateful that we have them back.
  • DD Bran flakes. Dear me, that is like eating cardbored! Mum tried it on BoP once, only once. She was righteously put inn her place! BoP aged too and three quarters! Enuff of these bad for you foods.

And on that, I did has mes proper food last eve, with lashings of broccoli as well as pan gravy. No stupid things like bagels and cardbored cereals! And I has mes proper brakefest this morning, too bits of wheet biscuits and the full fat milk. That is how I remain beach ready. No cardbored!

On bee in beach ready, I am inn the gym this evening, keeping trim. Most of the new year same old me has already given up with their ….

Now onto too mes food again, tonight after the gym we has the favourite of BoPsie. Proper Foods. Sardines on toast, proper toast and not that seeded sour dough carp so often talked about!

Just reading the paper about the younger sons who had to fend for themselves, minds me of the entry in my grandfather’s journal of August! He noted that he had yet another girl to feed, and he’s fears of being able to do so with already having three. He had one more and two boys later! August 39. How within weeks the world would change, but he remained loyal to his off spring, burying my mum before he departed.

Rite what else has occurred in the versions of BoP’s Life that you read?

Nows as yous knows that BoP talks about the furnaces at the mill and the shovels. Well, as we have created such a head of steam, it has interfered with our camera, and as such, they has at last taken away the coffee boiler, the one that cannot make a cup of tea to save your graces, and finally replaced it with a kettle. Teas up at the mill!

Usual lunch box. Too cake of Jaffa and too cheese this day!

Well after having no pleasure on paying the robbing taxman of Fryday last, one of the spammers has said all they need is me debit card and they are going to refund me! Clever that. Please note, the taxman does this by letter and on line! He has never refunded BoP as I pay him far too much!

On that, BoP checked he is not paying too much for his gas and electricity on that you’re stitched dot con site. Surprise, he is not! And he checked his consumption for the complete year since he had his walls insulated and LEDs lites fitted. Gas down from 12,500 kWh to 10,000 kWh a year and Elect down from 3,300 kWh to 2,900 kWh per year. Tell that to angry Greta! Shovels another coal into the furnace. Keep a check on yours!

Reading in the paper this day about none proper foods, the processed carp inn your shops! It talks about emulsions. Now yous knows BoP says emulsion are good for your walls, not your arteries!

That is it for the lunch bites
