3) cept me who could slip off downtown mid morning to my other office, much warmer
4) meeting had very nice sandwich lunch, and enough left over to unashamedly fill sandwich box for lunch tomorrow
5) after work went for buffet meal with simulation students. Lovely evening and as all standing I was able to go round to chat to all of them
Then lift home and gbf came round. The spaniels have had a hair cut and my house is still tidy and clean after last night’s cleaning hoorayMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1 Up early and I cooked us up brekkie, grilled bacon, grilled snorker, poached eggs, grilled tom and baked beans of course it was lush.:o
2 We went over the bridge to do the cheaper shops, which were lovely as usual, we used a meal deal and voucher for a free tea to help cover lunch.
3 We did call in at C0stco, I used their cash back from the year to cover our membership renewal. We picked up some offers and I got treated to big fluffy socks, which were half price from their Christmas prices. We have been pondering for months the hand held shark as it’s lightweight and powerful and finally decided on it today, we hope it will just ease keeping our animal based house clean.
4 More hook looping thing, it’s sort of relaxing but I am slooooww at it.:o
5 Appreciating the weather today and watching various bulbs crop up now.6 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) A lie in.
2) Hens OK.
3) Brother was doing a gardening job so I drove over and swapped 2 brownies for 4 large bags of well rotted compost.
4) Popped to town for petrol and found a Paw Patrol book with figures for small niece in the charity shop.
5) Printed off paperwork for the Arts Council in the library so hopefully I can become a museum mentor.
6) Had a half hearted tidy up and cleaned the bathroom.
7) Watched Holby City.5 -
Been awake since 4am but no birds tweeting today so it must be cold for them too. I am snuggled with hot water bottle. Grateful to the person who invented that...........hip painful today.
Talking of birds.......greatest of pleasures when they arrive to pick up my always late contribution to their daily diet. Saw beautiful magpie up close yesterday. Always amazes me when I put food out, watching more than one type of bird do what I call their 'fly overs' to check if it is safe to descend and embark on meal fest. The crows always sit on garage roof, the wood pigeons on the fence and my darling sparrows always whizzing to and fro. You would miss it all if you didn't stand and gaze quietly. The wood pigeons always clean up !
I had my birds trained to eat right outside the back door until one summer I had 2 rat sightings and had to stop. Have nothing against rats per se.........it's not their fault they were born as rats......but don't want them near the house. So I feed my birds at the bottom of the garden. Which is just as well as for quite a few years during spring and summer the wood pigeons were brave enough to enter the kitchen and eat the dogs food. I do admire them as their lust for a varied diet is akin to mine. I also love their proprietary waddles around the garden.......... again akin to mine. ;-) tee-hee
Made a 'cheats' cassoulet yesterday. I think it was nice although I always struggle with judging my own food.
Mum has driven up to see my sister so I will be seeing her again today. We have to sort something that has been ongoing for my brother who has severe learning difficulties. It has been a constant battle pretty much since birth and never ends. My Mum never gives up and although he is in his late thirties she is still knocking on doors to get him employment. Sadly, the world struggles to employ those without difficulties but she won't give up. I have always been part of the fight so when I read on here those that struggle in a similar vein my empathy beats a steady heart.
Going to make a cup of tea...........
To one and all, may your day be wonderful.

Suffolk Sue. You are in my thoughts.
Purple kitten. Glad your little one is mending. The power of love always astounds.
To all..........coming on here and reading about your lives makes me feel as if I am part of something. At this time this means more to me than you can ever know. So I thank you all.
Big kiss

Ampersand agree a total lack of nous. Also lack of no 8 but watch a great no 8 most weeks at Quins.
DforV a lovely post.
1. Finished work and not back till Monday morning and then only a half day.
2. Packing as going to Iceland.
3. A lovely sunset.
4. A colleague, who I rarely see, caught the bus with me. It was good having a chat.
5. A walk at lunchtime. I must do it more often it gets me out of the department but am then questioned as to where I've been and why. I reply with very non committal answers.5 -
Gentle hugs for you all DFV and yay on the rings x
The exhibition at Ely cathedral is on my list of things to do Paulie
For yesterday,
A better night’s sleep and easing of shoulder.
Over to see the beautiful grey one, took it easy but gave her a groom and tidy up, she dozed in the sun and enjoyed the attention.
Picked up some bird seed, got some eggs from the man in the village and visited the farm shop.
Slow cooked some pork belly for tea, Capt S did his best impression of a Bisto boy when he came home and smelt the kitchen.
Late night visit to the garden for small dog, I stood and star gazed for a while.7 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday.....
The second cob nut of the first two that I planted has finally sprouted. That's one seedling each for best friend and I (he gave me the nuts to plant so it's only fair). All the other growing things seem to be doing well. Best friend is slightly sour that the slice of strawberry that he planted went mouldy in the pot whereas the slice that I planted has grown 4 little seedlings :rotfl:
Work....very busy day, running food, waiting tables and like Mhags, lots of dishes. I like being busy though, it makes the time pass quickly and the atmosphere was good too. Decent tips which always helps.
Home after work to a warm house. Dinner was stuff from the freezer - the freezer is packed full so we shall mostly be eating from it for the next couple of weeks as long as I remember to liberate things first thing so they defrost in time to be cooked in the evening.
Hot bath, pjs on and a couple of hours of crochet. I realise that this is a repeat of yesterday but I do enjoy it in the winter. The throw is big enough to keep me warm as I work on it now, which is lovely.
Home made cherry scone for supper for me and home made brownie for supper for the HT.
DfV the HT is a bit scared of the oven when it's hot (very hypermobile finger joints mean that he finds it hard to lift and hold things) so he'll only cook things that he really likes. Any protest about being the only person who regularly cooks in this house is usually met with an offer to make pasta in sauce as that's his favourite. Macaroni cheese is next on his list to learn.7 -
I don't normally do breakfast but found some YS crumpets in the Co Op a couple of days ago and have just toasted and eaten the last two.....delicious!
We have a plasterer finishing the ceiling in the new garden room/conservatory.
Have just used a wrinkly cox's apple to make some apple puree for the Frieda child's lunch today as she's coming to visit.
House up to date (as much as it can be with the construction job ongoing).
Beautiful frosty white morning with sunshine but a milky sky, still much better than wet and dismal and a little boost for what the weekend is forecast to be.8
