    Surprisingly good day.

    1. Had an occupational health appointment first thing arranged by manager as a tick box exercise. The nurse asked various questions and when I cried on her asked more questions and then urged me to try counselling. I'm now in the process of arranging this.

    2. Arrived back in department and a colleague was lovely.

    3. In afternoon I was thanked by a patient and her husband. They made an effort to come back to say thank you.

    4. Having very little OOD good in my store cupboard. A change from a year ago!

    5. I enjoyed the vegetable biryani I made. DH and DS1 complained about lack of meat. My response was if you plan the meals and write out shopping lists then you can have a say in what we eat or even cook food.
  • Slow day again, but always good things:

Fleabay Parcel posted at local PO - they are so nice in there
Received a small donation of shrapnel from a colleague
Good Leek Risotto made from the River Cottage book (swapped chestnuts to chestnut shrooms)
Fell asleep to Midsomer Murders - 2nd night in a row (will I ever finish ep.1)

    For yesterday,

A foggy, damp kind of day, had no real energy for anything but cleaned bathrooms and did ironing.

Went out to farm shop, they didn’t have any eggs and the, admittedly very large, sweet potato that I picked up would have cost over £3  Dropped into village store and found a cheaper alternative.

Read a bit, watched Sherlock and generally embraced my inner sloth.

Small dog cuddles, such a comfort.

Only Connect, got one clue in the wall and a few of the missing vowels.

Morning all from an early train - en route to ICT (much, much later) after a quick lecture and seminar session in a totally different direction

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. DS had his first appointment with a counsellor about his mental health issues. It was a 40 minute appointment and he says he feels ok about it cos at last something is being done. So proud of him for tackling it head on (pardon the pun).
    2. Managed to write a lecture off the top of my head about something I haven't taught for over 10 years
    3. lunch with friend. She lives half a mile up the road but we haven't met up since Christmas eve
    4. Met OH and we had dinner in a vegan restaurant. Food was nice and the staff were lovely
    5. Classical concert- Brahms piano concerto no. 2 and Schumann symphony no. 2. Very, very good and the conductor was fab...

Have a good day all... I won't arrive in ICT till 7.30!! so quite a day ahead. Hedgelaying this weekend:T
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Good morning all, yesterdays pleasures...

The HT's fishy is still swimming and has learned very quickly what time dinner time is. The HT says it's like a little blue food hoover (and yes, we do know not to overfeed).

For some reason, taking the HT to school was like driving in Wacky Races. We saw some horrendous driving (second person in queue driving around a car that had stopped to give way then realising they had blocked the road and stopping dead was just one) but nothing hit me and I reached home safe but vowing to go earlier to avoid the numpties in future.

Work happened - it was very busy but I prefer it like that. Everyone in a good mood so a happy day.

Orange and lemon seedlings grown from pips watered and look healthy.

Jacket potatoes with cheese and beans for our evening meal. Just right for the cold foggy weather.
  • Quick Jenny push :heartpuls to DfV

Wacthing the cricket, bash of big and the u19 today. Going to miss start of test the morrow as I is heading down south to another salt mine.

Just had mes lunch plate, boiled egg, toms, orange, pineapple, extra snorker, as I is out tomorrow and three cakes of Jaffa. Cakes of Jaffa are on offer. Rite tasty

Watched another flix on the boxes of ogles last eve. Spy Cat! Wobbleade was consumed. Cheese was nice.

Had Dog Burgers for tea, proper grilled, topped with mature cheddar in toasted bun with onions. Not like the fast slush outlets. No chips from any van were consumed.

That is all for this day! BoP has another Vets BrekFest on Saturday!

No question, this is very stylish!
  • Just had chip shop lunch as a treat for our birthdays, HWKs is today.

Sarah and Ruby dog came for coffee this morning, always a pleasure.

HWKs birthday presents from DD1 and Frieda arrived this morning, spot on delivery.

I went and voted and combined that with a Co Op trip (next door to the polling station) so I don't need to go out again into the cold, damp mirk that is today.

DD1, James and Frieda coming for a cuppa this afternoon.

    Since I posted yesterday:

Heard the barn owls last night when I took Doggie out for late night airing, beautifully spooky sound in the fog. They must be courting, too foggy for hunting, so prospect of baby owls to come.

Out to garden centre, a mile from home cloud lifted and blue skies and sunshine all the way, until we reached the same spot coming home.

Beautiful view of Welsh hills in sunlight, with mist and fog floating in the valleys.

Free cups of tea at garden centre for Himself and me, and carried out quality control on their Bakewell slice and shortbread. 8/10 and 6/10 respectively.

Sample tastes at local supermarket on the way home, of Burns Night special (tatties, neeps and haggis), and veggie bake. After a spoonful of each I didn't need lunch so just bought Himself a sausage roll.

Frith, we are in North Shropshire a few miles from Welsh border. How about you?

Hello. Work done and dusted for a whole six days . Hurrah! Busy day. Apart from the whole back/hips seizing at approximately 3pm on a work day I usually quite enjoy my two days. I like the people I work with on these days. But I’m always glad when they are done.

    Fabulous tips! :)

    My first cream egg :)

I bought a bunch of daffodils for work and they were already starting to bloom by afternoon. ( ‘cause it’s blooming warm!)

    The niecelys are popping in.

Just getting lighter in the mornings and still light at home time makes a difference.

And in other breaking news the builder was here and allegedly the big window is fixed. So sorry I missed him ( not) he did the proper job of the crude job done before Christmas but too dark to see now so shall have a peek tomorrow. And I sincerely hope it’s been done properly and I need never see him again.

Hot shower and jammies on again!
  • Today wasn't very well - not sure where these lurgies are coming from but hoping I've seen it off with:

    a restful day today
HM tomato sauce, pasta and a garlic wheel from Aldee
    A snuggle with a kitty kat x
    Fresh sheets smell so lovely
a log fire - the house is sooo warm tonight
Another opportunity to watch the first new episode of Midsomer Murders - why do I keep falling asleep about 10 mins in :rotfl:
