5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Fabulous day in the shop and more things brought home than I can decently list, all of which are acceptable to the family members they were acquired for. I shall pay on Friday when I'm in again.
The builder arrived today with a labourer and has demolished and taken away entirely the semi circular steps up to the conservatory and kitchen that were 'antopolis' in the summer and caused me much worry as the door cracks continually filled up with seething masses of black ants that fell like a waterfall when the door was opened both in and out of the kitchen....yukkk! We are getting metal steps to replace them and having the space the previous steps occupied paved!
Spoken to both daughters on the phone today, lovely!
The frosty cold weather has gone and left cold, damp dreary weather instead which is considerably alleviated by lighting the stove and closing the curtains making the lounge very cosy indeed.
HWK is allowed to remove his operation site plaster today and he's really, really looking forward to having a shower tonight, bless him he doesn't ever make a fuss or complain but I know he hates not being able to have showers.....happy boy coming later xxx.0 -

1. Lunch with friend
2. More washing out
3. More stir fry for tea
4. More cold feet
5. More typing.. but a breakthrough
Have a good evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
He’ll always be Pirate Pete to me!
Ah the day of work ...the knacked back, the fused hips , the hot shower, the jammies on. The heat pack applied ...must be Wednesday.
An okay day apart from the back and hips.
Okay tips.
Had to make phone calls re the mother ( who has just called me and I will now have to make more tomorrow) sigh! I’m hoping once everything is set up we can discover some semblance of order though I realise I may be too optimistic !
Tightly budded daffodils now opened beautifully.0 -
the not so bright penny has dropped !
PK.......thinking of your little ones. Hope operation goes well.
Shropshirelass. Glad Bonnie is okay. We all know how worrying it is.
Tiggy back at eye vet on Friday as a follow up. To be honest I think there is something serious going on as the pigment in one of her eyes is changing rapidly. We will see.
Okay, here's some good stuff.......
Joined library yesterday. Yes, don't all shout at once because I didn't know it was a public library as it is in the local 'Academy'. It's tiny, tiny, tiny but I can order books in. Not only that but they have a film club so this Saturday afternoon am going to see 'The Favourite' for £1.50...........this is definitely a YIPPEEEE moment.
Managed to get more painkillers for Tiggy from 'the vet I am going to leave'. When he saw me coming he dashed into his room.........and I haven't even complained yet ! It's a good job he is avoiding me because I am still simmering and I find that killing people with courtesy and loveliness works far better. He does not want to be smothered by my nice side !
As evidenced by my refund received today (although haven't checked bank yet). I was very very nice and patient with this company. In the end they couldn't stand my loveliness anymore and admitted the error of their ways.......... :rotfl:
(bloomin 'eck.....am making myself sound like a paragon of virtue. Trust me....it's all in my head........:) )
Anyway, it's going to be a strange meal tonight. All rtc/ys........roast red potatoes, smoked salmon and salad. Love all of these individually........

What a nasty foggy day. Took positive action to improve it:
Decided to use up some out of date stores, viz. Bread flour bbe 04/18 and yeast bbe 07/15 to try out cottage cheese bread recipe. Good result, rose beautifully, tastes perfect.
Dealt with car insurance, had the bother of letting old insurance end and setting up a new one as refuse to pay 30% more, but at least it's sorted.
Removed leaves and debris from garden pots where bulbs are coming up. Not sure what will appear as I just planted a lot of bulbs scavenged and saved last year. Weather too gloomy to do more outside. DH decided to wash car, but was only outside about 5 minutes then came in to get warm again.
Cuddled up on sofa this afternoon with doggie and book, good way to spend January.
Planning a trip to garden centre tomorrow so hope the fog has lifted.0 -

For Wednesday:
Up in time for the builder’s arrival
Snuggled on the sofa with tea and catch up TV as I had to get up early and seem to have caught other half’s never ending cold in the relatively dust free zone of the living room
Visited elderly neighbour for tea and chat, she really brightens up when we chat
Managed to get nurse’s appointment for other half for Saturday,
Pot of beautiful Tete a Tete daffs rescued from the garden to put in the sanctuary of the living room
Thoughts to those who are poorly or sad0 -
Which bit of Shropshire are you, ShropshireLass?
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got various cleaning bits done.
3) Hens OK.
4) Was going to get a takeaway but got down the road and couldn't see the cat's eyes in the fog! So turned round. Did manage later to get smaller son to my brother's, and they went to the pub to watch the football.
5) Went to talk to my neighbour about the appalling planning permission proposal for directly opposite our very small terraced houses. The land has been empty since 1982, when the village pub was knocked down to try and improve visibility on the junction onto a big A road. We don't have any parking in the row so everyone has parked there for nearly 40 years... It's also the only parking for the village hall, BT, shop, where the school buses pull in off the main road etc.
Anyway, I've written a 20 paragraph letter, neighbour is going to go and see the plans AND she's meeting someone from Highways next week! Then talked to my brother (local councillor, but not my council) and we've worked out because I've lived here and used the same paved path to reach my car for just over 20 years - they can't build over it! It's a right of way now! Got to get that firmed up; a job for Friday.
6) In bed with 1hwb and have a conference type thing to go to in Shrewbury tomorrow. Will stop near Craven Arms to see bigger son on the way home. France is fast approaching!0 -
In day today as work being done outside mostly spent on the sofa.
Bought a bag of dried beans from world section of SM and cooked them up today, they taste good, had them in salad. Some in fridge for tomorrow rest frozen.
Feeling much better health-wise.
Very late to bed but slept ok.
Not much done but feeling happy not anxious.
