5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

1 Ordered enough ferret food for 6 months, trust them to literally run out over Christmas, bad timing.
2 Cleaned upstairs, our bedding and ferret bedding renewed, the resulting washing loads done and dried. Mirrors all done, and bathroom cleaned.
3 Early dinner as had to be at volunteer training by 7 and an hours drive there and back. It was good company and a pleasure it’s done for another year.
4 I’m reading up and considering doing an Open Uni MBA, I would love to hear others experience if anyone has done it?
Banking 5 as we have a very poorly animal here, it’s hard to think past anything tonight.0 -

Thinking of you and your little one. I know how heart-hurting it feels.

Pleasures today....
Brilliant winter sunshine as I walked around the park with dog.
Two loads of washing done, dried, put away.
Massive ironing pile smashed at last. Just as well, son had run out of undercrackers.
Fresh bedlinen on my bed tonight.
Carrying on with Christmas decorations, doing things a bit differently this year. It's funny how you get into a rut with what decorations you put where.
Finding an online supplier of a secondhand copy of a book I read back in the late 1970s, managed to find a hardcover first edition in very good condition for £5.
Almost full moon tonight, clear in the sky. Actual full moon will be on Thursday, in the sign of Gemini.
A comforting hot toddy (hot water, lemon and ginger teabag, lemon juice, honey and a dash of home made blackberry whisky).
Listening to Classic FM with dog under bed and cats on top of bed. All is peace and harmony. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Not posted for a while. I've been away and decided to be internet free. Since I've been home it has been really busy and has been hard to be motivated about anything.
1. Lovely holiday, relaxing and warm. Swam in the sea everyday which was wonderful.
2. House is becoming tidier and others are also being encouraged to keep it tidy.
3. Christmas card from a patient which she had written herself. She is 3.
4. Lighting my advent candle. It is very pretty.
5. Hearing that a friend has received the all clear from cancer.
6. Enjoying coffee but have reduced the amount I drink but it hasn't helped me sleep!
Will try and catch up on all I've missed.0 -
Hey Villagelife
Hope you find a copy of Black Beauty soon Bala years ago when my old gelding had a bad injury and was on box rest for 2 months I would sit in his stable of an afternoon to keep him company and read it to him, always cried over Ginger.
Monday pleasures,
A very rude wind that went through rather around you so a very welcome hat, scarf and gloves.
Over to the yard, twice! Had been home from first visit for 20 mins when lovely farrier phoned to say he had free spot and could be with us in 45 mins. The look of confusion on my ponies face when I arrived at her field gate again was priceless but she didn’t say no to a second apple
Dropping a few bits into the community food bank and seeing full shelves, with the cafe and time bank it’s good to live in a village that cares for its own.
Late lunch and was starving so big bowl of soup.
Finally got a (very) small list of wants from my beloved, good job I keep my ears open during the year.
Meat free Monday so feta & spinach bake with SP mash.0 -

Hello. I’ve just found out I’m working tomorrow...thought I was off and doing another day instead. Anyway!
So today started and has continued to be very stormy and horrid. Mr Dog had a very little look out the back door this morning and turned back and he actually did shake his head as if to say no way !
But he did have to go out so we did a very quick walk up the road until he’d done his business then had to turn faces into the wind and rain...me trying to hold onto a dog, my hood and a poo bag!
Was dark until 9am...a friend in London posting a beautiful sunrise in London over an hour earlier. Drove to charity and was in a traffic queue for ages but got there.
Had a good morning doing more wrapping. Met some more interesting people.
Popped into supermarket on way back. For dog food, loo roll and fruit and veg. None of these things I get at Lidl. Had a £3 off a £20 spend.
Home! And a quick dog walk. In the rain but just got home before it was torrential rain so was pleased about that.
Had chicken with sweetcorn and made a coleslaw. Was rather yummy.
No mince pies today! Stood on the scales ! Waaah! Told DD1 I need to stop eating her share of mince pies and she said I really didn’t need to eat them as she’s eating my share too ! I’m trying every hard to be brave but I am missing her Christmas-ness! The other two are bah humbugs! I hear a Christmas song and want to sing it with her but I’m singing to the dog instead!
Message from boss asking if I was in tomorrow as we both thought I wasn’t ( I’d thought I was swapping other colleague’s Saturday for my Wednesday) but seems I’m doing three days and not two! Anyway I didn’t have huge plans other than wood burner going in and that can go in with me not there!
And better to find out now than a frantic phone call in the morning! So alarm clock is set and I shall endeavour to sleep!0 -
Sweet Dreams Mhags
You would never ever get Tiggy out in the rain. She's probably worried about her hair......

Bala, Bop and anyone else, thanks it’s nice to be able to share the nice and the not so nice here. When the full lifecycle happens I always question why we do it, but I wouldn’t change it for all the daily laughter, smiles and memories they give us.
I’ve just seen a trailer for the Robert Downey Dolittle film, which did make me smile, looks like a must see next year.
1 Our little ferret had a heart attack last night, we nursed him and got him to the vets, they have said we know what’s what and gave us the last option, but he is the first ferret we have ever had who is literally petrified of vets, we don’t want it to end there for him, so we have bought him home to be with his team, if it looks like he gets into pain we will have to reverse our decision, but for now for want of better words we hope for a peaceful passing.
2 I’ve had a piece of surprise work offer from where I used to work before, a short contract to help them out of an issue.
3 We popped to Aldee and picked up some bits and bobs.
4 My lasagne quickly turned into a mix with rice on the side not realising and then remembering I used up the pasta sheets ops.
5 Going to an exercise class nice to kick box a stress bubble, though I did nearly cry 3 times it’s so busy it was enough of a distraction, and I got to write a Christmas card to a person with dementia from us and the ferrets, I thought it might tickle them.0 -
PK - sorry to hear about your ferret. We always had them when we were growing up (brother still has 2).
Pleasures for today (Tuesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Went to my mum's for her birthday. Dad and I had accidentally bought her the same book!
4) My brother was doing some butchering in the kitchen so bigger son got some "scraps" which he fried up for lunch and we've got some bigger bits in the freezer for a curry.
5) Took my timesheet in to the invigilating job.
6) Made a chilli with a portion for the freezer.
7) Went into town and bought a few more Christmas presents. Met my school friend for a cup of tea.
8) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.
9) Hopefully my sister is getting the right treatment now. She was told a week or more ago that she had bronchitis. I kept telling her to phone the doctor again, as she was in too much pain to sleep (especially the last 2 nights). She went back today and has pneumonia which has led to pleurisy!!
10) Watched Holby City.
Postal vote processing tomorrow a.m then my niece's Christmas play. She is going to be an angel (I presume this is what happens if you have blonde hair!)0
