  • A lovely walk with my grandpickle this morning to give her mumsie a bit of a break, she's smiling properly now and I was on the receiving end of some beauties.

Hot tea when I got home this afternoon having had a bus not turn up and having to sit for an hour in the unheated bus depot.....bbbbrrrrr!

Many good YS bargains in Sainsburys.

A trip to my lovely greengrocer and finding they had big cartons
of fresh Medjool dates on sale at £1 each, oh they are delicious.

Buying said grandpickle a hanging rainbow duck toy with sparkly pink beak wings and feet because she was talking to it in Wilkinsons, I couldn't leave it behind and apparently she talked to it all the way home too!

Can’t remember what a win looks like bop
A very very wet day, so here’s my 5 while I wait for my tea to cook
    1) walking in in the rain - well wrapped up (and very glad roofer came last week)
    2) dodging puddles and water spray when cars sped by
    3) after yesterday’s legume talk had broad bean salad for lunch - yummy
    4) insurance claim will be settled with no issues - very nice sympathetic email from them. Have to say, after lousy experience of mr t, aviva has my vote!
    5) now cooking up 3.7 pound venison joint. Friend of mine shoots and butchers and has given me this joint and a recipe involving chocolate, red wine and raspberry vinegar :P

Feeling very homesick for Melbourne right now, just been FaceTiming DD1 who’s not very well and just been on the train ‘with her’ looking out the window as she went from her suburb to the one we lived in as she heads into the pharmacist there. Beautiful sky, all blue with little white clouds. So many trees. The birdsongs. The flowers. ‘My’ shops. Gosh I really miss it and just want to be there. We walked past my house which made me cry. Because that was home. We walked over the oval where I walked the dog every day and I just felt that I could just have been /should just be there with her. Especially as she’s not feeling well.

Anyway prior to that half hour with her I had a good day.

    Day off work. Hurrah!

Lovely chat with my Australian friend. Good catch up.

Dropped DD2 off at work. Popped in for 5 minutes to hand in containers from catering that were still in my car.

Drove into town. Returned a dress I’d bought for DD2 that didn’t fit.

Went into a couple of charity shops. Bought a nice stripy ( just for a change) jumper from M&S half price at £2.25. Looks brand new. A nice spotty dress also M&S for £5. It’s for my work do in a few weeks and I’ll wear it again. And a lovely white sparkly wreath for £1 that’s on the shelf in my downstairs loo. Looking as if that’s all it ever needed!

Gave a lady 20p in charity shop as she didn’t have change and the shop till didn’t have change. When will I ever see you again to pay you back...it’s okay! Really. My good deed for the day.

Supermarket on way home. By which time it was lashing with rain.

Very quick dog walk and helped a man with directions. Bit complicated as our estate backs on to another which Sat nav says yay but bollards say nay! So helped him out with the long way round directions.

    Hoovered, washed floors, cleaned bathrooms.

    Builder came . Sigh!

The niecelys came. Had pasta and nachos for tea. And jam doughnuts for pud. Baby Boy was very funny. GN was very helpful setting the table. And counting how many doughnuts were required.

Watched soaps as I tidied up and did dish after dish of dishes!

Was just heading to bed when poorly person messaged me. So I’m glad I caught her and could offer advice ( she needs to see a GP which pharmacist agreed on but it’s a public holiday) and I’m glad she gave me a tour even though I sobbed through much of it.

    Pleasures for today (Monday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Bigger son went climbing today with my brother in law.

    3) Hens OK.

    4) Met with my college friend for a cup of tea.

    5) Up to date with the housework.

    6) Decided to give up on college job entirely - interview was way back in mid August and had still heard nothing about start date or possible hours. So accepted 2 weeks of invigilation work at the school I used to work at AND 4 days of postal vote work with a view to also being a poll clerk on election day. Also put name down for a couple of events for carers. So I was all organised...

    7) Brother popped up to play on the computer with smaller son.

    8) Tasty tea of leeks in cheese sauce with little bits of LO gammon.

    9) Continued work on the crochet wreaths, adding little "berries" of French knots. Not entirely happy with these so might undo and replace with red beads.

THEN... after tea, college emailed saying I have to start on Wednesday - after all this time! They want me there pretty much all day and THEN will discuss "what hours we want you to work". I really am in a quandary now as I am busy/working pretty much every day until Friday 13th December. I also have neither son actually attending college now (which was a real selling point for the job) as they have both been treated pretty shoddily. I can't go on Wednesday anyway as I am on a course.

    What to do?!

It’s a quandary for sure Frith could you trust them as an employer after the way they have dealt with things so far.....

    Monday pleasures,

Over the yard early as girlie had physio, find it fascinating watching him work and her reactions to what he does.

She was tight across her back, possibly from tension after bad tum a week or so ago, given some homework to help her.

Nice chat with my Uncle, there is a family get together at the weekend and needed to firm up details.

Made bread and then sat down with a pad & pen to start making lists for festive season, love a list.

No meat Monday meant a Lentil & Mushroom bake for tea which was tasty and then Uni Challenge tested our little grey cells, we did surprisingly well.

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1. Supper. Oil free lentil curry from Tastefully Vikkie. Actually very delicious. Dolloped lots of (oily) lime pickle on the side ;) Finished with a mince pie for pudding. Yum.
    2. Lots of people telling me how good I look. After months of feeling like crap it's really great to have the energy to put on some makeup!
    3. Watching His Dark Materials as a family, and we enjoyed it a lot (although, yes, it deviates from the first book quite a bit!)
    4. Bit of pampering. Used a face mask whilst watching the show, then washed off and put my fancy cream on and dabbed myself with destress aromatherapy oil (probs bol****s but smells like being in a spa...)
    5. Going to bed with a clean kitchen!
    6. Early night again, tucked up at 9pm. And managed to sleep a lot better than before.

Today my maternity evening dresses are being delivered. I'm excited for 2 reaons. Firstly because I'm hoping one will transform me into a Goddess. Secondly because I ordered 4 dresses, 2 styles each in both possible sized, so my clothing budget is currently overdrawn on my budgeting app, so I'm looking forward to returning the other three and getting the refund!
  • And it is not a rabbit out of the hat before you start either!

Oh Frith. Read notes passim from BoP. Educationalists, Social Workers and Humane Remains! Got it. AVOID!

PM2DD. Can’ts remember what a result looks like! At least we are too weaks without a loss, draw or win!

Extra inn the lunch box of BoP this day. As it is the fortieth anniversary of mes 18th, I has two choccie balls, and free cakes of Jaffa. The rest you can guess! Cakes of Jaffa weres on offer!

Stove chilli was for tea last evening, nice well brewed, but we had kitchen disaster. Gravy pot, proper gravy pot of BoP that has lasted 40 years plus, taken from Mom BoP house some time ago, has given up its handle. Bin through some sauces and curry that one but alas, into the recycle tin of trash. Then proper cocoa was taken, with buttered marmite crumpets. Proper Bourneville cocoa. Taken as always without sugar. Nows inn the kitchen at the mill there is a foaming version of this drink and the sugars it contains would lift you into orbit. AVOID foamed drinks.

Was watching flix on the Amazonia thing last eve. BoPsie was about a double thrill, a Burt and a Kirk! Gunfight at the OK Carol. One for BoPsie there! Me, I can wait for me film with Ms Mansfield or Marylin. I wander ifs I can gets me a double bill like BoPsie had?

Tickets are here for the next BoP on Tour. Details in 32 Days time. Oh, and another is booked for not long after that one as well!

That be all for yours Lunch Bites today!
Mr Fawkes should had lit that fuse!
  • Lovely chat with both DDs on the phone this morning, just catching up and chatting through life in general, most happy making!

Podding out the last of the dried on the vine runner beans from the allotment, they are now in a sealed bag in the freezer for 48 hours to kill of anything lurking before being used up in chillies, casseroles and soups over the winter.

HWK has been o the plot this morning and found 2 x bunches of grapes still on the vine that grows round the garden shed which be brought back home, lovely unexpected bonus.

Found my cd of Helly Hutchinsons Christmas Carol Symphony, one of my favourite Christmas listening to's.

Finally getting to know what my Grandpickles want for their Christmas presents from us, brilliant.
