Pondering, I think ampersand is preparing to invade Spain, but suspect also keeping a sharp eye on the rugby.
Hoping all is well & all the vehicles are cooperative.

Frith, I admit I had to look up Parkin, sounds delicious.

1 Changed the ferret bedding, changed our bedding, washing loads done and hanging around. A pleasure it's done and that first sleep on clean bedding.
2 Final coat of paint on the kitchen, thank goodness.
3 Popped to pick up a parcel from the post office, and detoured to poundland to pick up puppy pads picked up their last ones in stock.
4 Dinner is various leftovers made into a meal, it was quite tasty.
5 Being inside away from the weather, watching the rocky mountaineer programme and reminiscing to our honeymoon, aw, see I can be romantic, but DH snoring beside me on the sofa.

    Hello. Bedtime.

It’s Halloween in our town...it is always celebrated on the last Friday of October.

Up early and did some chores.

In to town. Mooch round charity shops. Got a pair of black jeans for work . A nice green stripy cardigan. A pair of curtains for the living room ( sigh....those patio doors have had more curtains up than I’ve had hot dinners this week! The last pair ( and they’ve all been charity shop ones) lovely and long and puddles beautifully but just didn’t quite meet in the middle. These ones do. However when I get decorated after log burner goes in I will put the puddling ones up on these patio doors in extension. A fabulous duvet set in a cranberry shade with 4 matching pillow cases for £2.99. It’s had a hot wash and hanging over laundry room door to dry. And finally a little metal candle holder for Halloween.

Home and dog and I drove to allotment. Just for a walk round. Picked an apple and a few wildflowers.

Picked DD2 up and sang happy birthday to our cook. I’d bought flowers , a small bottle of Prosecco and a cake. I’m working all day tomorrow again so she can enjoy her birthday.

Quick home and then back to work to work! Had a witches hat and some pumpkin lights on! Was working with an angel and a devil. Not busy but a fun night and we had a Halloween play list on! All prepped for tomorrow so don’t have to go in quite as early.

Then couldn’t find car keys ! ( madly looking everywhere holding everyone up) boss husband dropped me home and son and I walked down with dog and spare key. Think I may actually have them in my gilet pocket in the staff area and totally forgot I had my gilet! Duh!

    Home! Sigh!

    Pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) A lie in!

    2) An email from county council, if only to say they haven't decided yet and it's going to panel next week.

    3) Hens OK.

    4) Spent ages with bigger son looking through old photos.

    5) Took bigger son to work and didn't have enough petrol to drive home then back out and home again. So spent 3 hours in carpet town. There are very few distractions there but chatted to the homeless man in the subway (we don't know his name) on my walk to the town centre and then on my walk back again. Looked at the Christmas decorations in Next, M and S and TK Maxx. Wondered the aisles of Sainsburys for a bit. Spent my Nectar voucher on YS bread and eggs.

    6) Had a carrier bag of chestnuts from my brother yesterday so I roasted about half and ate them whilst watching Have I Got News For You. Also watched the Last Leg.

    7) Have made my first crochet rose! And have found a very interesting pattern to crochet a tiny Christmas wreath.

    8) Going to bed just now. I've worked out how to listen to podcasts on BBC Sounds so can recommend You're Dead to Me (history) and Evil or Genius (although that one is totally ruined if the laughing comedian is on it! He not only laughs but randomly goes Waaaaah")

    An enjoyable day.

    1. PK I also changed our bedding.

    2. Quick tidy of the house. It made a difference.

    3. Met a friend for coffee and lunch. We put the world to rights. We don't see each other too often but always enjoy our catch uos.

    4. Did some Christmas shopping. One person is now completely brought for.

    5. Enjoyed my book.

PM2BOP 9-0 to the foxes! Good luck to the Hatters and Mariners
Erzurum is fabulous and the conference really really friendly. Travel not so great - Wednesday bus to airport, 16:30 flight to Istanbul (watched Fishermen's Friends and Stan and Ollie - enjoyed both) where i managed 3:56 sleep according to fit bit on a rather hard 'couch' but better than nothing, quick flannel wash in the rest room, 2 hour flight to Erzurum (I slept!), picked up at airport at 8am (6am UK time), straight to hotel for breakfast and bag-drop (no time for shower) then into full day of conference followed by 1 hour at hotel (i stood for a long time in the shower singing 'singing in the rain') then off to conference dinner. Turkish dancing - the lovely nursing students taught me a turkish dance - my fitbit says it was 25 mins aerobic exercise!
back to hotel for glorious 9 hours sleep, then another day at the conference - time is elastic so my talk was an hour late but well-received, and importantly to me as an academic, a connection made with fellow presenter from Australia who is interested in my research.
Then off to another restaurant for another delicious meal (no dancing this time) and back for another 8 hours sleep
now in conference, 1 hour till the rugby, will i dare have it on silent during the conference? thank you eduroam (university-wide wifi)
    so my 5 for now
    1) Turkish hospitality including of course the food
    2) The bus that picks us all up then drops us off at the end of each day with stops for the students - lots of laughter and singing
    3) Turkish dancing - i loved it
    4) Eduroam which allows me to keep in touch (and handle the odd work emergency)
    5) Knowing my dogs are safe with mum (dd2 is off on guide camp)

    Pleasures yesterday.

Driving to work in the dark, peaceful on the roads, little traffic.

Cake Friday. One of my colleagues has started bringing in cakes every Friday to celebrate us getting through another week and acknowledge the hard work and the pressures we are under. Cream cake makes work's filthy instant coffee bearable.

Home to ecstatic welcome from dog, cat snoozing on chair opened one eye to acknowledge my presence then closed it again.

Son took in a parcel for me, some gorgeous handmade soaps from a friend.

Cheese and biscuits with cheese and onion crisps for supper.

Bed, knowing I would have to get up early this morning to take son to station (he's going to London for a few days) but looking forward to a few days off and a chance to catch up with sloggus domesticus.
One life - your life - live it!

DD I think I need to stay in academia just for Eduroam...:rotfl:

Waiting for the haka!! but will miss the first half but, as I actually support Wales, I am not 100% who I want to win today.. (I am also somewhat bemused that I have gone from 'no interest' to 'watch if the menfolk are watching' to 'putting it on, even when i'm alone'). I am in ICT and will cycle up to a local pub tomorrow at 8.00 for the wales game (and a pint and a bacon roll for £5! :rotfl:)

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Friend came for coffee and we had a catch up
    2. Walk to the station and it wasn't raining too hard
    3. Train was crammed as it was half the size it should be, but I got a seat at a table and a lovely little boy kept me amused ("I can play this video game, mum. It's fine. it's only got a bit of violence":rotfl:)
    4. Nice evening with friends, they cooked. Was able to talk PhD with a fellow academic who's offered to read and feedback :T
    5. Got a taxi back as the weather was AWFUL

Have a nice day all - i'm off to the bonfire and fireworks tonight (at Rhydy, Frith), there and back by steam train. Very atmospheric and it should have stopped raining by then.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Friday pleasures,

Snap on bed changing so make that a hat trick, what wasn’t such a pleasure was that my hand went through the bottom sheet and it’s now been cut up for the rag pile. Such a shame as it was the softest, warmest one.

Having a bit of an epiphany and working out what was still provoking my cough, now much better!

Having a laugh with a lady in the village shop after she remarked on the low slung jeans of the previous customer, he had left the shop by then but we all agreed gravity wasn’t on his side :rotfl:

Then visited the GC and picked up some HM pickled onions, the lady there makes and sells them to raise funds for hedgehog sanctuary.

Finally watching last week’s GW, the last for this year, I will miss Nigel and Nellie.
