And back again. Rained most of today.
Went to a castle. I couldn’t get in but Haggis and I had a nice wander round gardens which were stunning.
Made pasta for lunch.
Chat with friend on phone.
Wander along beach.
Haggis needs to go and see a vet in the morning. Something not quite right. He keeps yelping in pain but I can’t see anything obvious . He’s walking not limping, peeing and pooping, eating and drinking but just not right.0 -
Had two double snorker fest this weakened. Moved bookcase into dining room. Got another model nearly ready. Takes me mind off it.
Visited BoPsie. She’s bin rushing it. She’s had dad talk.
Raffles has landed in one on new leap shelf. Missed other models thankfully.
No hankies left0 -

1 A lazy Sunday morning, grilled bacon roll and ferret cuddles.
2 Sanded down the undercoated doors, cleaned up and then I put on the first coat of gloss to all 3. DH is busy creating a bathroom cupboard from recycled ikea wood picked up free. Sometimes it feels like a lot of work to be able to move house.
3 Pasta bake was dinner, trying to learn the new oven.
4 Ordered a top and Christmas present, half price but I have opted to pay for delivery as if I do click and collect he’ll be with me and know what I’ve got him.
5 Chortling at sadistic television.0 -
Aww like this thread. I’m a newbie! Hope it’s ok if I join in?
1. Taking my dog for a nice walk this morning
2. Spending time with my parents
3. Baking and eating bread
4. Watching my little boys splash and play in the bath
5. Relaxing on the settee with a cuppa watching some TV.0 -
Welcome Hancocks871. This is a very friendly welcoming thread.
1. Watched rugby. England won but need to reduce handling errors.
2. Managed to do a large pile of mending.
3. Picked flowers from the garden. They look lovely in a vase.
4. More weeding done in the garden between showers.
5. Steak for tea from a local butcher. Very good.0 -
Hope Haggis is ok, poor boy.
Thinking of Bopsie and our Bop.
Welcome Hancocks871.
Sunday pleasures,
Up early, saw the sunrise hit the big, dark bank of cloud sitting to the West, stunning.
Enjoyed DID with Thom York of Radiohead fame.
Quiet day at home, pottered about doing a wardrobe change around although it was very warm & humid so felt weird to be sorting through jumpers.
My bid won on a pair of ceramic candlesticks which will be perfect for mantelpiece in dining room.
We had skipped lunch so a proper high tea of ham with salad, followed by scones and rock cakes, reminded me of going to my grandparents house where such teas were the norm.
My thoughts are with all employees of Thomas Cook, including my DN and her bf, she’s only just brought her first home so tough times for sure x0 -

Hugs to poorlie fur babies. Pleased to say spaniel#1 has at last recovered (monday -> saturday!) he cried for breakfast saturday which normally goes right through me but i was so happy
Don't mention the footie BOP to add insult to injury my premiership team is spurs. he who didn't want coffee supports Leicester city. Still, on the bright side, Watford :rotfl: hugs to bopsie
dfv still experimenting with using fridge los from mrpiano - have discovered i like stir fry with soy sauce (mine) and lo onion relish :P yes shoes now tamed
For the last 3 days
1) Friday evening pub with friends. 2 of them were going to sing-along rocket man, did i want to go? more of a bowie than elton fan, so was surprised / happy i knew all the songs bar one! i sang with great gusto
2) Saturday Dundee Pride. Glorious weather. i marched with the cathedral including provost and bishop. we had rainbow flags flying from the cathedral and the lovely bell ringers rang out peels throughout the march.
3) then 3 friends and i went for a drink and it was warm enough to sit outside (!) we whiled away a happy 90 minutes watching the world go by
4) short walks with 2 spaniels then longer walks with 1 spaniel
5) After church bought a pair of trainers (old ones had totally worn through) and a pair of walking shoes for the winter. I have put my rainbow laces on the trainers.
6) Then home for asparagus, mussels in white wine and hm brown bread. first 2 from mr l (just over £3 together), bread hm by friend. very yummy. don't know why pack gave me calories in 1/2 a pack of mussels - i ate the lot
7) Back for Compline choir followed by light refreshment. very nice little macaroons lo from morning's service (didn't have anything after am cos was saving myself for my lunch!)

The sun is shining here and the sky is blue so I am soaking it in as the weather forecast for the rest of the day and coming week is NOT at all nice!
Another decent night's sleep.....what is happening here? whatever it is I like it!
Stewed apple for supper last night with custard, old fashioned but such a pleasure and I enjoyed it far more than a complicated pudding. Sometimes the simple things in life are the best.
Home made soups at this time of year when there is an abundance of choice in vegetables available to make them from. Todays will be Leek and Potato, yesterdays was Carrot Pottage and they are a welcome and warming lunch as the year cools down.
Starting to contemplate Christmas arrangements, food and organise presents. We're going much simpler this year with one present apiece for children and grandchildren along with a small stocking. This at the request of parents who say the children get very over presented and they get distressed if there is too much on offer which I fully understand. Both daughters and partners this year have said yes to a weekly veg box scheme which I shall set in place now rather than wait for Christmas I still await ideas for the grandchildren.0 -
Welcome Hancocks!
MrsLW you've reminded me that stewed apples are a 'thing'. Must do some soon. Or baked and stuffed with sultanas and brown sugar. Yummy.
My pleasures:
- Treated myself to some Body Shop (v. expensive!!) ginger shampoo as pregnancy has given me a dry scalp, and some lovely bubble bath. On Sunday morning I had a loooong bath, read The Goldfinch, listened to music and used new smelly things. Lushhhhhh. And the flakes are no more! Not usually one for snake oil lotions and potions but looks like I'll be ditching the Lidl shampoo for a little while.
- On Sunday MIL cooked a gorgeous roast for us, on Saturday we treated ourselves to Lebanese falafel wraps...so I barely cooked this weekend
- Binge watching 'Criminal: UK' and 'Criminal: France' over the weekend. Not exactly masterpieces but very enjoyable especially with a bowl full of homemade chilli, alcohol free beer and some tortilla chips!
- Baby stuff: baby kicking loads now. Managed to find a lovely second hand sling for 25% of new price, in post now. Also slowly deciphering the baby car seat requirements as that's the next big thing on the list. Scan on Thursday. We're not finding out the sex but still really exciting to see the wriggler.
- Am bizarrely excited for Christmas as the weather draws in! Due to awful morning sickness putting the kibosh on holiday plans, I've been able to book off 17th December - 1st January this year. So I'll work one day (16th) in 19 days...and I can do that from home. The Friday before the 14/15th weekend is the day after our Xmas do so we only work 11-3 and there is pizza and fun as most are too hungover to function! So excited for all the lovely time off!0
