    5 for yesterday
    1) My jeans dried in the outhouse :D (it's a very small outhouse and it rained all day so i was happy - i hand-washed them sunday evening hand and span them)
    2) welcome ceremony for whole university new students was lovely - the rain certainly didn't dampen our spirits
    3) got a taxi back with 2 colleagues on account so no pennies spent on bus
    4) welcome lunch for our students and i squirreled sandwiches and fruit for the next two days' lunch (they are now residing in the fridge)
    5) watched series 1 of the Derry Girls (well almost, watched the last episode over breakfast this morning). How did i miss this?!
So overall a pretty good mse day. Though trainers and winter shoes both worn out beyond repair :-( so a trip to shop imminent

  • Nell to ourselves for a while this morning for coffee at her house.

Lunch out the three of us at a garden centre and a wander round just Nell and I, blissful.

Finding a pack of Pushkinia bulbs and buying them for her to much hilarity (her cat is called Pushkin!).

Seeing a PeeWit (plover) fly across the road as we drove home, it's been ages since I saw one of those.

The increasing colour on the leaves in the roadside verges where gold is beginning to predominate the summer green and it being just that little bit cooler out of the sun, lovely.

I’m in my jammies! I was just out of shower and noticed rain was starting so fired them on to run out and bring washing in! Not seen the point in getting re-dressed! However washing was dry! Hurrah!

    Nice dog walk first thing.

Hung 2 loads of washing out plus what was on clothes horses.

Nice walk to work. Was a most pleasant morning.

Work was okay. Better than anticipated!

    Nice walk home.

Boss gave me a bottle of rejuvenating serum. It didn’t agree with her. See if I look years younger !

    Quick doggy walk.

Had potato scones for lunch and a sit down snooze!

Watched a film on Netflix. My get up and go had just got up and gone!

    Pasta for tea tonight.

    Have a nice night:)

    Tuesday pleasures,

    Scrambled eggs for breakfast.

Visited the beautiful grey one and gave her a groom, have no doubt she was probably rolling in the dirt again before my car had left the yard but I felt better for doing it and she relished the attention.

Received a package from a pal with homemade soaps in, such a beautiful smell when I opened the parcel, I loves a soap.

Power cut in the afternoon so couldn’t hoover and had to read book instead, shame eh ;) it also affected Capt S’s office so he came home early.

Veggie tea, this time fresh figs, all jammy, grilled and topped with Stilton, served with smokey pepper pasta.

GBBO, I have serious bread scoring envy and will be sourcing the appropriate bakers razor!
  • Oh my Lainey, figs and Stilton!

Only 3 more days until I see my Sister.

Mrs Blackbird waiting for a toast crust. She is lovely.

Work is at the calm before the storm stage, although this promises to be a hurricane.

Meeting a friend for lunch at the cafe round the corner.

Tea already made. Just needs to be reheated. Gives me time to start packing tonight for the Lake District.

    Pleasures for yesterday...

Walk in the park with dog.

Seeing the foliage on trees and shrubs start to turn to shades of autumn.

Washing (two loads) dried on the line, no need for tumble dryer yet.

Fresh bed linen last night, and winter duvet now on resulting in good night's sleep.

Cooking session - batch of pancakes now in fridge for quick breakfasts for son, a leftover bit of pasta bolognaise plus leftover bits from fridge turned into a sort of minestrone soup for today's lunch, a beef and ale casserole served with garlic bread for dinner.

Got my passport renewed online, so easy, and my photo makes me look almost human. Not such a "wanted poster" effect as usual.

  • A good morning in the shop, much sorting, pricing and putting out done.....sadly though because of the constant rate of donations the pile of donations was the same size when I left as it had been when I arrived!

DD1 who is due to have her baby on Saturday has this morning gone into housework frenzy state.....I am anticipating things starting to happen in not too much longer.

Met the most beautiful lurcher who came into the shop, beautiful golden, broken coated little girl just a year old and she was so friendly, lots of cuddles had, lovely!

Some time just for me, HWK has gone to the allotment and I don't have any pressing jobs to do so am coasting.....and very nice it is too.

Finding a rather battered but still useable copy of Laurels Kitchen (a wholefood cookbook) in the donations I unpacked today, it's now paid for and on my shelf. I had a copy many years ago but it went awol on one of the house moves, glad to have it back again now.
