Saturday pleasures,
Not a bad night’s sleep considering but took ages to get downstairs!
Dippy egg and marmite soldiers for breakfast.
Still very sore so nothing to do all day but to watch the XC phase at Burghley HT, seeing some of the falls suffered by the top riders made me feel a bit of a woose tbh
Utd lost at home but DN’s team got a last minute equaliser to carry on with their FA cup adventure.
Capt S took me over to the yard to pick up my car, my girlie was still out in the paddock and the walk was beyond my current capabilities but I left her carrots & apples for her tea. I drove my beloved’s car back as being an auto far easier.0 -
LaineyT hope you feel better soon
Went to a wedding in Italy over past few days.
1. All flights and connections went ok. Only one crying baby.
2. Thursday and Saturday spent in Venice. It had been over 30 years since we had been. I loved the city and we walked and walked.
3. Caught a water bus to Murano. Some of the glass was superb but very expensive.
4. The town we stayed in was a small Italian town and our hotel was next to the city wall. Hotel had recently been refurbished. Breakfast was good.
5. Wedding venue was superb. The wedding was lovely. The bride sang at the end of the service. It was a different service as it changed from English to Italian depending on who was speaking.
6. DS1 did an excellent job as best man. His speech was very good and all in English!
7. The good was began which prompted loads of conversation. A couple of the textures of the food were interesting.
8. A lovely few days away.0 -
Today my beautiful, brave daughter would have been 46 ,she is forever 37 .
1 DGD did v well in her GCSE s ,got her much wanted 9 in maths and has loved her first week in 6 th form college .Her Mum would be so proud .
2 DH has passed his assessment for an electric wheelchair ,don't know how long it will take to come or if he will be able to use it ,but the thought is there
3 His sister sent us an M&S teatime hamper as we ' deserved a treat ' it was scrummy and he managed to swallow some cake .
4 good weather means lots of easily dried washing .
5 watching the swallows and house martins circling before their long journey .They always leave around DDs birthday .
Lainey ,hope you recover soon and your girl is suitably repentant ,there was a local post on Facebook of a photo of a riderless horse found and many people were out looking for the rider ,hope that wasn't you .
DH continues to fade ( best description ) but he is relatively calm and pain free .
Thank you all0 -
Oh, SuffolkSue my thoughts will be with you today. I hope DH remains calm and pain free and you find ways to enjoy time together xx
My pleasures.
1. We went and sold our car to a national car buying service, for £2,500 more than what was left on the PCP. So not only do I now not have any stupid consumer debt (we bought a more economical car for cash last month!) we have a wee windfall!
2. Thanks to YNAB (budgeting software) I realised two car insurance companies were taking payment for the same old car, due to a systems error of the first one I tried - it said due to an error no payment had been taken and to call, so I just bought elsewhere for £1 more! Anyway, they let me cancel without charge, so that's ~£80 coming back to me I didn't expect. And now I've sold that car I can cancel the other policy, with a charge of £25, so £56 will be refunded. All the pennies will be put to good use!
3. Lovely day today, washing hanging in the breeze.
4. Silver linings of failed house move. Starting to unpack, and planning what to do to make this house cosy for new baby. We had squirrelled about £9k away in cash to contribute to the fees etc (the cost would've been £22k!!) so I've re-budgeted that between home improvements, holiday fund and emergency fund. We've already spent a little bit of the money on 4 nights just south of York in October half term - a heated eco pod! I've never been to North Yorkshire. There are various museums we want to see in the area, we will do a day in York and then tack on a couple of nights in a cottage in the Dales or Moors (TBD) for some walking. I will have to borrow my father in laws waterproofs to accommodate my growing bump. Tres chic!
5. Found out my ex (DD's dad) and his wife are pregannt - baby due exactly 1 month after ours!! Two pleasures here, DD is absolutely delighted to have not one but two siblings on the way, and also the devilish pleasure of knowing he's finally going to experience the sleepless nights. We were so young when we had her he was off at Uni at the time so I bore the brunt myself. This time he shall have no such luck...hehehe.0 -
Bless you Sue but no it wasn’t me, our whoopsie moment happened in the schooling arena and tbh wasn’t my girlie’s fault but just one of those things. So far with her I’ve gone out of both side doors and now out via the rear one so just need to go over her head and will have a matching set :rotfl:
Sorry, equestrians black humour.0 -
Thirst train cancelled. BoPsie whipped me to CheltScum. On big Glasgow train, avoiding Warster. More later.
Now on big Edinburgh train. Two hours early. How did that happen. What could possibly go wrong?
Help. They’ve taken me to Crewe!0 -
Golden day out there more like high summer than the start of autumn just a tiny bit TOO hot when we had to stand out in the full sun.
Frampton Country Show where we stood out in the hot sun was fantastic, real country exhibits not commercial and with local rare breeds, many horses, many dogs to chat to and play with and a punt gun on the lake.....throw in the lurcher show and it's a perfect day!
Lovely vegan quiche for my lunch HWK had the biggest sausage roll I've ever seen and both were yummy.
Back home in the shade and feeling much cooler and more comfortable and have had two cups of tea.....how can anyone be uncheered when there is tea?
Biggest pleasure was a parade of Deerhounds in the main arena, now I love dogs, all sorts, all sizes and my heart belongs entirely to lurchers and terriers but Deerhounds en masse all moving together well, that's a rare and beautiful sight to behold. They really are super dogs!0 -

Pleasures for yesterday
1. Finally managed to hoover the blessed house for the first time in too long. Others had flitted round with the machine but don't really hoover so I shifted furniture, took a hand brush around edges and the whole thing took about 2 hours! Usually a thorough hoover is about 40 mins (kids take about 10 -15)
2. Ordered a new mattress for our bed. Was a bit of a shock when we came back and realised how rubbish our old one is.
3. Did some work while OH and DS went the footie, and DD went to work
4. OH cooked a chicken concoction
5. Begg for lunch.
Have a nice evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
