    1. Met a friend for coffee. Long talk and she is much happier now than she has been for ages. It was good seeing her looking contented and relaxed.

    2. Washing dried on the line.

    3. Front garden looking tidy. It took some effort but was worth it.

    4. DS1 has a new job. Still for same company but a promotion and different work which will be more suited to him. He is happy.

    5. All at home for the evening including DS2girlfriend. Enjoyable meal.

    Friday pleasures,

Popped to the emporium for some fresh bits, it was a test in patience with several trolleys being packed by staff for deliveries and even more hesitant shoppers blocking the aisles but I survived.

Various outside chores including washing down of garden path and gate, we have so many birds in our garden with the inevitable results!

Then time to sit in the garden, with my book and a cuppa, just time to be.

Snap Frith on salmon for tea.

More things fishy, a new series of Bob M and Paul W with their gentle, humorous programme, this time on the River Usk after brown trout.

  • Fabulous day out at a vintage vehicle exhibition so many gorgeous cars and motor cycles, steam engines and working steam saws cutting through whole tree trunks like butter to make planks.

Meeting THE most gorgeous lurcher in one of the rescue association stands, sadly I was upstaged by a bacon roll so never had his full attention but oh my goodness he was pretty!

Vintage bric a brac stalls, vintage bookstalls, beautiful stalls selling rock a billy dresses and so much more.

Some really tasty vegetable noodles with curry sauce for lunch and a surprisingly good cup of coffee.

The sound, sight and smell of steam vehicles takes me back to early childhood and is a particular love of mine.
  • There we go.

Had snorker brunch today as BoPsie was up and away earning pennies. To nite we has mixed gorilla. Steak, snorker, tikka chicken and mushrooms.

Just doing me models as football is back. Eurofighter Typhoon. Just doing cockpit. Tiger moth is a bit of a hash, but done.

PM2DD Oh yeah here we go. Scoonts down. Kittens down. Get inn. We are still undefeated this season!

It’s a long way until the end!

    Bedtime.

Went into work with my new mantra of 'work hat on ' whilst there and got on much better. Took it 'off' at midday and headed out that door! No actual wearing of hats involved just a better mentality for somewhere I'm going 6 days a week!

Home, shower and snooze. Felt much better after a snooze.

Started project August! Which is to clear the crap away left from building work at side of extension . It's a laneway of about 3 foot wide and ends at a shed. I want a shed thought I. I have a shed thought I. Tucked next to what used to be the back door pre-extension. Cleared a whole load of rubble-y stuff. A bin liner full of plastic plant pots to go to allotment tomorrow. 2 buckets full of weeds.

Not actually much inside but I will take it to the tip on Monday. Painted the door...there's only really the door to paint ( hurrah) as its jammed between the house and next doors fence. Had just enough left over paint from when I got my new to me garden bench a month or so ago.

Popped in to town and went to the reopening of my favourite florist. It's been revamped and looks fabulous. Bought 4 ivy plants to grow up my fence in laneway. Planted them into bigger pots.

It's just me! Oh and my dog who has been my constant companion ! I'd a bag of crisps and dip for tea and a slice of cake for pud! Got a mini celebration cake in M&S for 60p.

Watched Casualty on the telly! Since I moved rooms around a month or so ago I hadn't even plugged in the TV. Hadn't missed it enough to put it on.

Has been dry ( apart from a tiny shower) most of day. Quite humid though. Every time I mention I'm hot DD2 says 'it's your age' it's p'ing me off! I don't think it is I think it's actually just hot and humid and clammy and uncomfortable.

    Evening all :)

    :hello: Hiya Sparrer
house elf, I shall listen extra hard to GQT now. :)

    Some recent pleasures:

    1. DS1 visited this morning and DS2 this afternoon to help out with their grandma who is having some very difficult moments because her memory seems to be going through patches of failing very quickly indeed.

    2. Have heard from the mental health team and DM is being booked in for a CT scan and an appointment at the memory clinic. I don't know what they can offer but at least something's happening.

    3. Big hugs from both DSs.

    4. Massively reduced piece of gluten free cake with a cuppa in W'rose cafe when I temporarily escaped from DM's this afternoon (thanks to DS2 taking over). :)

    5. Lovely fish pie for supper.

    6. Was given a wonderful little b&w laser printer by my best friend as a 'just because' present. I was struggling without a working printer/copier and he decided to rescue the situation. Not at all MSE but enormously useful and timely and I am soooo grateful.

    7. Received a sweet card from an ex-neighbour of my parents today.

    Sweet dreams,
    Bx

    Pleasures for today (Saturday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Brother here once more and the stove IS IN!!! It just needs some rope around where the chimney attaches and a good polish. We will leave the first fire until bigger son comes home.

    3) Hens OK.

    4) More photos and videos from bigger son. Now the end is in sight, he is getting a bit homesick. 2 weeks to go...

    5) Dropped smaller son and his friend off at the football. Unknown to them, I had asked the club to say happy 16th birthday to both of them which they did - on the display board, over the tannoy and in the match programme! I think they were chuffed and embarrassed in equal measure. :-D

    6) I had lots of cups of tea in Sainsburys whilst waiting for them.

    7) My school friend came round bearing birthday presents and useful groceries. I made us wraps for tea. She has not long gone home.

    8) Smaller son is now technically 16 as it has gone midnight! In his tradition over the last few years, he opened his presents at 00.01. He got a birthday card from his father (first in 3 years, they haven't seen each other for 2 years) and said, "well, that is depressing". Apart from that, he has been very jolly. He wanted money so I also bought him some little bits and pieces and some new pyjamas.
