I'm just 24 hours back from the South of France so an awful lot of pleasures but not too many OS.
Since being home:
Harvesting camomile and lavender for drying.
Processing and chopping (my eyes don't think it's a pleasure!) shallots.
Thats it for today although there will be reading happening this evening.0 -

Sorry to hear about your DH's chest infection, SuffolkSue.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Lots of messages from Nepal and a rare internet phone call! He still has a piece of bamboo in his finger (one bit removed from the palm of his hand) so he has a nicely infected glowing red fingertip now. No antibiotics so he might be transferred somewhere with a hospital later in the week. The little jeep that acts as a taxi to get them part way up the mountain was stopped by the police and fined for overcrowding! 1000 rupees (£7). His thoughts are very much turning to coming home now. Amazingly, another girl has organised that her parents pick them both up from the airport and they will drive him as far as Redditch. That is only an hour from here.
3) Hens OK.
4) Went to Sainsburys and had a cup of tea in the caf!.
5) Man came to fit my new kitchen sink taps. No more tap that you have to hold still with one hand while you turn the top with the other hand and no more second, leaking tap.
6) Made chicken shawarma for tea with some fried marrow and peppers and a bit of crème fraiche. Also got the jam kettle out and made chutney from the enormous marrow dad gave me yesterday. It always surprises me how much food goes into making 6 small jars!
7) Other man appeared and fitted the register plate across the chimney.
8) Football club confirmed they will put the happy birthday for smaller son in their programme (to be fair, we never buy a match day programme, but we might this Sunday!) and they will announce it and put it on the digital display board.0 -
Suffolksue hugs
Still on holiday but coming home today and work tomorrow.
1. More swimming in the sea.
2. More hot sunny weather.
3. More food and wine.
4. More meeting up with friends.
5. Feeling very relaxed.0 -
Sue we had so many new 'normals' along the way! We were six months shy of our silver wedding and my OH just wanted to reach that but we knew he wouldn't, we celebrated it early in hospice though. It still really hurts that we didn't when in other circumstances we absolutely would have.
Take each day...bits of your day at a time. Make the most of the now. Hold on to now. There's a thing called anticipatory grief and it's horrid and awful having a knowledge of what lies ahead is horrid and awful but just look for the moments that shine through each day...they are there I promise. Whether it's a bird or a flower or a breeze on a hot day. Make the most of the small things. What a beautiful gesture of roses. Congratulations on 48 years.
Well it's Wednesday and Tuesday went by in a blink of work! My full day 8-5. I actually quite enjoy my full day ( when the other days I skip out after 3 hours)
Came home with leftover pasta sauce that fed two hungry traveling Australians ( and one DD2) here for one night only before they set off on their travels once more. So when I get in today the suitcases shall be gone from the living room! Hurrah!
And my very own travelling Australian is winding her way back to Melbourne via a few other countries! Took her to the bus stop at 6am.
There had been the most beautiful sunrise. Sky was Crimson .
My cleaning lady had popped in whilst at work ( she 'does' for all of us so had been at boss' house and was returning keys) and had a quick chat with her ...'I love all your photos 'she said 'your husband was a handsome guy wasn't he? ' yes he was! Thank you!
I had a lovely dinner with my friend on Monday night. Good to catch up and it was such a nice meal. I had pate and then chicken ..she had goats cheese salad and fish and chips!
It was Haggis Boys birthday yesterday . My dog boy is 5 which I think is old enough to know better! The Australian girls don't really like dogs and he just wants to love everyone ( apart from the postman) so it's a bit hard seeing their 'rejection' of him and he just doesn't understand it! Especially on his birthday!
Right, I'd better get a wriggle on and get ready for work. See what it brings! Have a lovely day.0 -
Hugs Sue It’s so hard to stay in the moment when you know what’s coming but please cherish this precious time, what a lovely idea for roses on your Anniversary.
Tuesday pleasures,
A young leveret on the grass verge, it’s ears were nearly as big as its body.
Treated myself to a new notebook for household journal, that’s sounds posher than it is but like to have somewhere to write down meal plans, significant dates etc and can’t say no to new stationary
LO couscous for lunch.
The Combine did another bit of the field and then had to stop as the rain had started, pleasure was in opening the windows again.
Climbing into clean, fresh sheets and finishing my book.0 -
Oh Sue, I hope you have a better day. Enjoy your roses.
BOP i have a 14 plate Fiesta. My assistant has a brand new Audi sporty thing. 32 and lives with his Mum!
Monday/Tuesday
1. Weather better than forecast. Dry washing.
2. Friend dropped by with tomatoes. Made lovely pasta sauce.
3. Gave a reference to an employer for a young neighbour who has overcome many challenges and turned out to be a responsible caring boy against all odds.
4. Glass of cold Chablis on a school night!
5. Looking at reviews to our forthcoming trip to Vienna. Looks a beautiful city.
Happy birthday Haggis.0
