Week in France/Luxembourg with biking friends & it was hot, hot, hot 🥵 occasionally too hot

Hello. May I join in?
My 5 OS pleasures for today:
1)- The OS Board. I love reading it.
- Test Match Special. I didn't succeed in getting tickets to the Cricket World Cup - I was after the cheapest seats at Lords or the Oval - but I love listening to the commentary and the way the presenters tease each other and chat. (I'll be listening on the drive home tonight from work.)
- My veg patch. Tonight, I'll get to harvest and cook the first courgette of the year. There's one that is finally larger than my thumb.
- It's Tuesday, it's quiz night! Every Tuesday, a group of my friends do a pub quiz. It costs £2 to enter and, since we're nearly all drivers on the Lime-and-Soda, a round of drinks is less than £10. Lots of good chat and camaraderie at a cheap price.
- An easy commute with paid for mileage. Today, I'm visiting a different site to my regular office. The drive was straightforward and the mileage will pay for this week's tank of petrol.
- Pip"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!
2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 25.5 spent.
4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
8 - 4 x 100g/450m skeins 3-ply dark green Wool Local yarn
1.5 - sports bra
2 - 100g/220m DK Toft yarn0 -
Ruby terrier and her mum, such a greeting from the small houndicus and putting the world to rights with mum when we went for coffee this morning.
The roses in peoples front gardens, I've never lived anywhere with so many roses they seem to thrive here and they are every colour imaginable and beautifully scented.
Trip to the garden centre this afternoon to find some wire to train the blackberries and loganberry and finding a garden seat with storage reduced to £200 which we may go back for tomorrow, it's got a roof and sides and a storage chest under the seat, it will fit where we have a space for it and will be lovely to read a book in on a summers day.
We replaced the first lot of petunias in the garden hanging baskets, the first ones got very 'leggy' and they now look lovely.
Have trimmed all along one of the border fences in the back garden and all the overhanging ivy and branches growing through the fence slats from next door are gone, it looks so much nicer.0 -
Let me find pleasures in my busy day of work.
Well I wasn't starting till 8am. Usually 7am but after a scone Masterclass and a couple of tries the boss made the scones and they looked fabulous .
So I walked to work ( the walking there was fine the way home not so much) and enjoyed the bird song and smelled the wild roses as I walked by and admired people's gardens.
Work was busy. I was cook today. Made a very delicious tomato and lentil soup. I work with a nice bunch of girls.
Had a very lovely customer pop in...our very own & who went out of her way to come visit me! I was delighted and she's exactly as I'd imagined!
A slightly more weary walk home as back was sore and feet were sore and I'd brought home the dirty tea towels to wash so they were an extra bag to carry but admired the gardens in reverse order and it was dry with a pleasant breeze.
Decent tips but I'm putting them in a seperate jar for OH's oncologist research for the month of July. We've almost raised $1000 so I reckon by the time I put my tips in we'll be over that amount.
It's a pleasant evening, I'm going to rake in the freezer for something for sons tea and then go out in my garden and weed and deadhead and potter. Otherwise I will fall asleep sitting up!
Have a good evening and& thank you for taking time out of your long journey home to come and see me. Sorry I couldn't chat for long but I share everything here anyway!!0 -
Frith, oh I like Dungeness, and the great fish and chip shop, on a corner on the main drag towards hythe. Sorry can't be more specific going from memory.

Evening
it's a lovely relaxing read catching up on your pleasures.
Homegrown strawberries picked from the allotment.
Being grateful that my health allowed me to carry my containerised bay tree from the plot to my back yard.
Being grateful that I have two girls who could carry my larger containerised blueberry to the back yard.
Enjoying the knowledge of growing I have accumulated and knowing instinctively that my blueberry is becoming iron deficient and treat accordingly.
Being able to snip lemon balm growing by my door for a tea infusion over lunch time.
Very happy that my hardworking husband could walk through the back door very early at 4pm. He's done absolutely nothing this evening, recharging his batteries.0 -

Quick pleasures for today (Tues)
1) not a bad sleep
2) sunny
3) went to Sainsbury’s in New Romney - what a hoot! I hope all Kent people are like the shoppers there :-) All the aisles were being restocked simultaneously so I was having to say “excuse me” and “it’s a bit tight with that stuff in the middle of the aisle”. In the Welsh Marches, you would receive a polite, murmured reply. Instead I was called love, darling and twice “babe”! I’ve never been called babe in my life! A Sainsbury’s lady showed a man where something was and he said “thank you my lovely sweetheart thanks babe” all as one sentence!
4) we walked over to a very ancient church in the middle of a field
5) enjoyed the football0
