Tuesday & Wednesday pleasures
The declutter thread is back :T & OS thread of the week on this week’s MSE email :T
Sun, sun & more sun 🌞
Being able to sit out in the garden watching the birdies, bees & butterflies
The inordinate pleasure I am getting from watching the pigeons being befuddled by the netted cages under the bird feeders - the little birds are messy eaters so we have 20-30 pigeons destroying the garden but now cannot reach the ground seed:rotfl:
Picked 3 sticks of rhubarb from the shop bought plant which is rampant- washed, chopped & frozen for a winter treat :T
Started knitting a baby blanket for a new great, great niece due in August
Keeping the garden in shape
Rented house next door finally had the back lawn mowed - the grass & weeds were only thigh high this time around
DSis & I were given a tour of the downstairs of his house by our ‘challenging’ neighbour - very proud of his garage conversion to a bedroom & shower room for when his mum visits
Seeing a family of coots - 2 adults with 5 ?cootlings? - the youngsters are so pretty with reddish brown heads - reminded me of the Ugly Duckling tale but in reverse :rotfl:
Having seed with me to be able to feed them!
Snorkers, mash & beans for Wednesday’s dinner
DH reflooring the hall & cloakroom.

Logging on for the first time in FOREVER to see much sadness. So sorry for your losses and ongoing issues (especially Broomstick, Nargle, and Sue) and deepest apologies if I've missed anyone but have barely skimmed the many posts.
Lovely to read of Mhags and & having a meet up though.
A few pleasures:
Glastonbury - :j remains my favourite place in the world, even though this year was a bit more of a challenge (went alone, albeit with Oxfam, had to work).
My DS is volunteering on the railway in ICT - :T he applied for some jobs, which he didn't get, but it brought it home to him that he needs experience and references
OH has gone to Holland for a few days. No sign of him getting bored with retirement yet
The weather - i'm sorry for those who do not, but I LOVE it.
Work continues.... slowly.
Have a nice evening. I leave with renewed vows to post more frequently.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
So sorryNargle lovely for your OH ,but a terrible shock for everybody else.
Mhagster i know exactly what you mean by being confronted by things ,everyday it seems
This morning the speech therapist came about swallowing / choking ,it is a known thing with PSP that both will become a problem,he already has choking problems at times ,having told he he was fine etc etc ,he then choked quite spectacularly sipping water ,so now has thickeners ' for when he's fatigued'
Pleasures for last two days
1 we managed to host our U3A wine group here ,an excellent time was had by all .
Normality is wonderful !
2 lovely weather
3 the kindness and support of friends ,both inRL and on here .
4 our son is coming at the weekend ,apart from saying that it's got to be sorted DH has refused to talk about it ,so DS hopes ,he will talk when he's here
5 we had a peaceful night last night hoping for the same tonight0 -
Went to meet little Flora this morning before babysitting her next week, what a sweetie, she came to the door in mums arms gurgling and smiling and put her arms out to come to me before I was over the doorstep.
Met DD1 for lunch and had a lovely chat over it.
DD1 rescued a book about Cotswold life for me that was a discard from the school library, I shall enjoy it immensely.
Trip to Lidl us most of what we need for the rest of the week and I didn't have to carry it home on the bus.
We went to the garden centre where they have a sale on and ordered an arbour seat with storage under the seat for the garden which will be delivered next Wednesday, I've always loved them and wanted one but never thought I'd have one, most happy!0 -
Evening everyone.
My OS 5 pleasures for today are:
To learn a friend has had positive results from some health testing and is OK.
Picked another batch of ripened strawberries.
Found an abundance of flower starts on my blackberry bush.
Enjoyed laughter and humour on my local bus trip to Town.
Sourced elder that I can get on to on the bus so I can pick my own elderberries come autumn regardless of ill health. I missed out last year as couldn't walk up the hill I live on so I'm very happy about that find.0 -
It has got decidedly chilly here in Dundee. Probably because i didn't take a jacket or cardi to work :-(
1) My first meeting of the day we held at Tonic which does very nice coffee and very good meeting
2) My second meeting of the day came with lunch. Catering sent loads so I have tomorrow's lunch sitting in the work fridge
3) and took a whole tray of cakes back to the office so i'm Dr popular
4) DD2 and mrpiano were in town and gave me a lift home so didn't get cold
5) mrpiano had cooked an extra chicken breast so i have made my own version of sweet and sour (you know the type of thing, a bit of this, and it of that, oh it's delicious but never repeat that combo!)
now eating supper while watching Kyrigios and Nadal, 4th set, then going to have a bath with Cillian Murphy- oo Kyrgios has won another game. Cillian may have a long wait!

Evening all
Big virtual hugs to you Nargle. Warm thoughts (but not hot and sticky ones!) to all - baking hot in the South Midlands today. :hello: PipneyJane
Five pleasures for the last few days:
1. Friendly GP has said that she'd rubber stamp her approval on any application I made for a Blue Badge for DM - one of those would make soooo much difference.
2. DS1 looking after my mum so I could have a beautiful walk into town and back on Tuesday and today, just staying on the shaded sides of the streets. Just walking and walking feels so lovely.
3. My parents' solicitor is being really helpful (for free) at the moment.
4. Have almost finished writing an obituary for my dad and my mum seems to approve :T
5. Ice in drinks.
Sweet dreams

Quick pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) a good sleep
2) good trains to and from Ramsgate
3) really enjoyed a trip round Ramsgate Tunnels. An old railway tunnel turned into a massive air raid shelter. Lovely and cool inside and, after two months, 2 hours with no hay fever!!!
4) Indian takeaway for tea
5) couple of messages from bigger son0 -
Good morning. I've set my alarm clock on by half an hour but still waking up before the old time! I'm now starting at 8 instead of 7. Boss is now making the scones instead of me , I think she thinks I'm bothered but I'm not. ( though I did like making them) I really don't need to be working so many hours!
So yesterday pleasures. Worked 8-12. Steady when I was there. Enough to keep me occupied. Straight out that door at 12 though and apparently it was crazy afterwards.
Came home, sat and had lunch . Chatted to DD1 ( she'd just had breakfast!) then cut the grass, was sweeping up when my neighbour/ friend pulled over so chatted with her. Then a dog ran off lead and after another dog so helped with the sorting out of that!
Then I went for a remedial massage on my sore back ...and now I have a sore back in other places not sore before! Well massaged! Good chat whilst I was saying ow, oooft, ow.
Came home. Snoozed. We had takeway pizza for tea and I had a meringue with cream and strawberry for pud. Son put the fire pit on and they sat outside. I was blooming freezing! Definitely much cooler DD
Decided bed would be an excellent choice but have tossed and turned most of night and now aching! However it's a new day. It's my 29th one at work in a row which I'm really starting to resent! It's really not a sustainable option! I'm still enjoying it but something has to give and I don't want it to be my back!
Nargleblastmy spell check is making up all different words as I wrote that! Please be kind and gentle to yourself just now and for a while to come. There will be so much to do and much will overwhelm. I still don't sleep well but recognised early on the need to rest.
Right, have a good day everyone. Nice to see lots of people posting their pleasures again. They are always there just somedays we have to look harder. We don't always make five which is fine...you can bank 'em for another day when they abound!0 -
Good morning, some pleasures I will have today....
Currently, in bed with lemon and ginger tea. I tell you, that's a lovely way to start the day.
An Alexa extension in the bedroom so I can listen to the radio. Currently it's radio 2, and Long Train Running by the Doobie Brothers is playing, a blast from the past.
Son is going to Scarborough this afternoon with a couple of mates fur the weekend. I'll miss him, but I get pleasure in knowing he's having a weekend break from all the stuff that's going on, and I think he needs that.
My lovely daughter is coming up from Leeds this morning for the weekend, so she'll see her brother for a couple of hours.
Sunshine and blue skies again.
The love and companionship of my cat and dog.One life - your life - live it!0
