Awful news Frith. So sorry. I hope the other kids, including your son, get the support they need to make sense of this.
My pleasures:
1. Nearly finished off allllll the freezer food. I think by end of next week we will be back to scratch and have loads of space for home grown veggies.
2. Last night I got home a couple hours before DH and made crazy eggless chocolate cake with flaked almonds on top. His eyes lit up like a little boy's when he saw it on the side. It's lush, recipe here: https://sweetlittlebluebird.com/tried-true-tuesday-crazy-cake-no-eggs/
Would like to try and adjust it to use up some of the decaf instant coffee and nuts we haven't been using.
3. Trash TV - watched an episode of Rich House, Poor House in bed with DH last night and was touched by both the families and how lovely they are.
4. 4th day with no alcohol today. Not a big deal to some but we've been drinking every day for ages now and it's just not good. Feel so much more alert!
5. Last day of work this week - I'm off to a hen do in Newcastle tomorrow. Furthest North I've ever been!0 -
Oh Frith, that is so sad, his poor family.
Wednesday pleasures,
Walked around the corner out in the paddocks to find princess pony had removed herself from her own field and was enjoying the grass in the walkway strip, she looked so pleased with herself that I had to laugh
Catch up chat with a fellow livery owner.
A big patch of cowslips on the verge.
Chat with DB about the latest episode of GOT and a small wager made on who will die first!
Watched Only Connect, the questions get harder if that’s possible and we only managed a few answers between us.0 -
ANZAC Day. One of many events in World war 1 that we have hindsight of? Getting ready for veterans breakfast again this week! Snorkers will be eaten! We have lots of things about help, but we still have the coal face workers facing difficulties. At our gatherings we see the friends we have, but the ones who don’t come are the ones we have to chase about! Sadly we lost another member last month.
Now back at the mill again. Short week, but we must keep the boilers hot. Tea is being drunk! No I don’t dunk my proper digestives that are in me lunch box. And I has two oranges today! Cheese is that apple of wood type as well! Good for you! Also there is a w8rs biscuit covered in chocolate as well. Yous has to have these don’t you!
Tonight is brewed chicken tikka bits with spinach salsa and rice. Other foods are available but not as nice. All home made and this time BoPsie did the tikka! See BoP’s notes in the thread for the recipe! All tasty and good for you. Then aftersward, we each can has a choco icecream lolly thing from w8rs! The mini ones. Tasty!
Wes still inn the dining room at the moment as we wait for the second coat on the lounge in Palais de BoP! Raffles thinks the table is good. Dids I say that after proper breakfast yesterday, Raffles wept up the scrambled eggs? That is what proper foods do! Minds you this morning we has the pop snap and crack things with fresh milk. Orange juice was also taken.
Shovel Master, who has not yet matched what BoP is worth is not inn this weak. No worry, as BoP wont be inn if he is too wide of the mark! Its between him, who is wide of the mark and the Millwright who thinks BoP hits the mark! Did I say we has sore ted out the gender pay thing here? No, we all get the minimum wage! That’s it! Lies, Darned Lies and Statistics! Mind you we get a whacking great bonus! There, yous not expected that!
Bin good on games night this week. Tonight is monopoly. We has an extra house rule at Palais de BoP. If cat knocks off you buildings, there are off! BoPsie tries to encourage raffles, I thinks she cheats! Also we has a tonka, proper toys if you remember, bulldozer to make the demolitions far easier. Other games are available.
Nows I hears inn the media hype that some people has not bin vaccinated because of the insocial media. Now whens Big Sis got a new BF back in 85, I went to see her. BoP has to look after Big Sis because like all Big Sis, they can be a tad … Well she said this is her new BF, John. He’s got measles, but it is ok you had it when you were young. No I darn well did not, and ten days later aged 23 I was floored! Completely in easter 1985! There that is what it can do! Not nice! Cut the bullshine!
Talk inn of insocial media, I just put up nonsense on it! But I can see the amount of carp on the darn thing means that I would not touch most with a barge pole! For those too young to knows what the barge pole is, it is a long wooden thing you could poke peoples with. BoP does not advise poking people though!
Nows I nots knows weathers I had ranted today ors not!
Do we expect too much?0 -

Visit from Ruby dog and her mum for coffee this morning, nice company!
Stint in the Charity shop this afternoon and beginning to know my way round a little, nice folks to work beside and much laughter.
All the sudden weather changes we've had today everything from warm sunshine to a spectacular hail storm at lunchtime, love the British weather, never ever boring is it?
HWK is having a better day today and isn't sore and stiff as he was sensible and had an easier day yesterday, hope it continues.
HWK finally finished the 1000 piece jigsaw I got him, which came on a cream background and has been giving him headaches for at least a week, with satisfaction he took it apart again and I shall take it back to the charity shop I got it from tomorrow, he will NOT be sad to see it go!0 -
Happy hols DD
Rain has just started. It's actually been an alright kind of day. Mild is how you would best describe.
Well...a very early wake up call from dog who needed out at 4am. Sigh! Then he started barking at 4.30am. A car had came to pick up next door neighbour...I assume an early morning flight. Much woofing.
Made Anzac biscuits this morning. Very yummy.
Went round to my mums. I'd said I would iron. There is just so much needed doing . And we've done stuff and tidied and cleared and it just fills back up again. I do despair!
Anyway I came home with a brand new frying pan, a pair of unopened rubber gloves, a pair of earrings for DD2, a baby shawl ( assuming it was for one of mine ) that will go to DN.
Met a friend on way back and quick chat with her.
Watched the latest episode of The Widow. Having watched the final episode of MotherFatherSon when I was wide awake at silly time.
Garden landscaper chap came this morning . I have odd marks on my patio (possibly effervescence) so he's been in touch with depot people who will get in touch with manufacturers.
Oooh it's started to thunder. Glad I'm in and not out!0 -
Frith, so sad
DD, happy times.
1 Ordering one last thing for DHs birthday and picked up a little box of liquers as there has to be chocolate.
2 Washing machine cleaned through, and I got around to cleaning the oven a pleasure it’s over.
3 More van packing and tidying.
4 Wrapped and packed DBs birthday bits.
5 Popped to Mr T as the ferrets have just run out of mince just picked that up and a pack of 20p doughnuts.0 -
Thursday pleasures,
Successful trip out to get some treats ahead of Capt S’s birthday on Saturday.
Pony was in her paddock when I arrived :j she was also covered in lots of small yellow patches and I realised they were from lying down amongst the dandelions, would have made a fab picture.
She was very lazy and lethargic which was probably down to all the grass she had eaten but much better than the high octane behaviour we used to have.
Saw my first bluebells of the season.
Goats cheese tart with roasted veg for tea, one of my favourite meals.0 -
1. Good day at work. Worked with a nice colleague at an outside clinic.
2. Washing dried on line.
3. Managed to dismantle a cupboard. It is broken and a new one is arriving today.
4. DS2 girlfriend had a new job. She isn't happy in her present one. It is a pay rise too.
5. Went out for a meal to celebrate.0 -
