Thanks Mrs Lw shall give it a go.

Quietish day . Dozed off again .

Niece and great niece popped in for a couple of hours. Organised her baby shower for her in a couple of weeks.

Ghastly weather so dog walks were brief and to the point!

Made a mince pie for tea filled with veg and with RTC pastry.

Quick chat with sister on phone.

My gift from the NHS arrived! Poo test! Yay! And my first of a years subscription to my fave Australian magazine from DD1 for my birthday.
  • It turns out the most lovely pink colour and when it's diluted it's so pretty! It's a Scandinavian classic and we first had it in Gothenberg for breakfast when DD1 and I went on holiday.

After a few false starts we think we have found great kitchen people. They have sent us somewhere else to decide on design, units etc, and someone is coming by tomorrow to measure up and talk through, so we will see.

1 I packed away any bad food into the freezer as we reboot the diet.
2 I managed to meal plan with things we don’t have so it’s a healthy failsafe of haddock.
3 Changed our bedding, old stuff washed, dried and put away.
4 We had a few hailstorms here, and the ferrets were in the garden chasing the hailstones as they dissolved in the water trough.
5 I remembered to cover over the tomato plants tonight, definitely a pleasure, I’m aiming for lots of plants this year.

    Wednesday pleasures,

Listened to a beautiful rendition of Ava Maria that had been recommended by a blogger I follow, stunning.

Sorting through some old family photos and put some aside to do a collage type thing for the photo wall.

The blossom is coming out on the pear tree.

Despite large, black clouds rolling around we didn’t have the evening rain they forecasted, however with the sun setting behind them we literally had clouds with a silver lining.

Finished watching After Life, hopefully a further series will be made.

    Pleasures from yesterday:

    1. Treaty breakfast of porridge with maple syrup and toasted cranberry and sunflower seed bread
    2. I cooked a sweet potato and lentil curry and ate it for lunch. Delicious.
    3. Managing to get washing in off the line before the skies opened.
    4. In the evening I attended a wine and food tasting for an awards event at the British Medical Association house in London, right next to where my Uni halls were (memories!!). The food was all vegan and delicious. We *had* to try 6 wines and a Prosecco. What a trying job!
    Here is the dessert station:

    5. My husband met me at the station and we called into our local pub to see the art exhibition (they do a new one each month) and this oil painting of our local park may have been squeezed out of our budget. We have absolutely no art up in our house (there are a couple of watercolours of Kilkenny - my mother's family's home town - waiting to go up in the bedroom) as I am waiting for something meaningful, original and that I love. This ticks those boxes, so I feel like it's justified. Plus it supports a local artist and not John Lewis.

  • My Berghaus waterproof jacket.

    my sheepskin heavy winter gloves.

    Central heating.

A really hot cup of coffee at the garden centre.

A chat on the phone with my friend who moved to Cornwall 18 months ago, I've missed the sharing and the laughing we used to do when we walked our dogs together, nice catch up about all the children and their children.
  • Ms LW. That is Rhubarb. Rhubarb should be dipped in sugar and eaten raw. Nonsense this cordial thing!

Back at mill again inn the wheel house today sore tin out the strategy for the cloth up norff. A lot further norff.

Fortunately today BoPsie had her proper digestives so is not in need of your thoughts! She also has her lunch boxed well filled by BoP! There!

Was on weigh in this day and the snow was melting as it hit the ground. April showers again.

Not had one today, but thinks is it steak nite?

    Gather around talk of nonsense!
  • The delight of my childhood a stick of rhubarb and some sugar on a saucer, blissful! In my older age the cordial is way more palatable!

I've missed out, has always been stewed in my house - ready to be dolloped onto rice pudding, porridge, ice cream...or simply eaten with a spoon.
