Hello from the house of cold! Boiler not working, plumber not responding to calls. Happy to take the money 7 months ago ! Slightly growling, so have just came to bed with wooly jumper and socks and about 3 layers of blankets! No hot water either! His reply to an earlier text was he'd told me ( over the phone ) before. 7 months ago...now I can hardly remember what I've done last week let alone the mechanics of a boiler 7 months ago!
    * he's just called and we have resolved problem over the phone. He said he'll pop in next week! No longer growling!

    And in other goings on.

Lovely dinner with friends last night. Much chatter. And another gift bag for the pile!

Nice walks with doggy. Managed to avoid the very heavy rain showers.

Chicken Kiev for tea with rice and veg.

    Quick call to sister.
Quick call from niece and subsequent baby scan photos. Everything looking okay.

Met a friend in supermarket, good chat with her!

My travel plans once again thwarted as DD2 has a date for surgery. Sooner than we'd expected. But glad we have a date.

DD1 video calling me from her friends verandah this morning as they were hand feeding cockatoos! Thrilling.

1 I got a call from a vets asking could we take a rescue in, and so we picked him up a bundle of smelliness has now arrived, he’s friendly and very gorgeous. Not knowing his background but I would say he’s not had a great latest past. He’s only got one ear, and no fur where I would guess he’s been kept in his own “dirt”, and a black tooth, also he’s boney. So we’ve started him on convalescence soup, and he’s eaten and eaten, met others, explored and is currently out cold, we’ve got a cage in as his own space to get acclimatised before freedom, I phoned our own vets and have booked him in for an MOT and neuter next week. I’m a bit concerned but we’ll do what we can for him.

2 What started out as me painting the main room has now turned into, while I decorate the room, the flooring going down in the main room will also run into the hallway and kitchen, and a man is coming to quote to work in and replace the kitchen.

3 Walked up to a different post box to make sure my nephew gets his birthday card on time, loved seeing the various magnolia and other buds out.

4 I could have been easily swayed not to cook, however I then thought of the vet bill coming up and health, and cooked, brown pasta with veg, and haddock was tea, with a dessert of the last of the almondy cake.

5 A very teeny tiny bit of tidying done.

Sorry for absence ,not been good here
    Pleasures for today
1 Paramedics came rapidly after my 999call ,when I just could not get a bleeding ,swearing DH off the floor kind cheerful and professional .
2 v thorough examination ,no broken bones ,but worried about rapid irregular heartbeat .
3 Good GPs who saw him at tte end of surgery (only an hour after paras left)
Further ecg and nurse sorted his grazes and cuts out
4 much discussion and advice ,decided no hospital yet ,Atrial Fibrillation confirmed (explains a lot ) and agreed no blood thinners as the risk of serious bleeding when next fall greater than current risk of stroke
All puzzled as only 8 months ago his abnormally slow heart rate was investigated .
5 the kindness and support of our son and friends and neighbours ,nothing will change but people are lovely.
6 A working washing machine and spare bedding ,I can remember when we were first married and I had to do it all by hand in army quarters .

Hugs SuffolkSue, not nice to go through but good you received so much help.
Good going on the BSD Frith, we are not doing the strict 800 this time but more the 5:2, weight loss is tad slower but hopefully more sustainable.

    Friday pleasures,

Fast day so no breakfast, good coffee though.

Busy with chores, the house fairies gave one of the dog her toys back just two days after it had been replaced. It sat under the wooden box in living room, both Capt S & I had previously checked under there when searching but there it was when I hoovered!

Egg mayo wrap for lunch, was ready for it.

Equine girlie was good if a little sleepy during our lesson.

It was still light when got back from teatime dog walk and we closed the curtains just after half six, lovely :j

    Lurches back - hullo all!
ampersand - after the horror of last week, you have the satisfaction of seeing NZ pulling together & Jacinda being inspirational wonderful - is it anywhere near enough help?
Frith - a propos of ages ago, if you just take them as sounds "rabies, Japanese Encephalitis and Hepatitis A" could sound like a really exotic Mothers Day bouquet. Oh dear heavens, may your mum's stubbornness speed her recovery. Black eyes can look awful. May your neighbour, garden & septic tank thrive.
Happy belated birthday mhagster! Mmmmn, puppy cuddles... That allotment not the source of relaxing tranquility as billed, quite, eh?! Yikes boiler but wow videocall cockatoos.
Rousing (albeit belated) wedding anniversary congratulations MrsLW & ooooh cute lamb!
    BoP on tour? Ooh splendid.
VJsmum - glad to hear OH back on track
LaineyT - love the idea of foxes playing with misplaced dog toys
MandM90 - House is tidy because I was the only person in it - oh yes!
DundeeDoll - sorry life is stressful, but thank you for fish finger research!
Suffolksue - yikes midear! As you rightly say hurrah for nice folk, & for working washing machine.

    OS Pleasures recently
It amuses me what can happen when the blood sugar dips. “That’s the ladies, love, go on in & there’ll be a ruckus...”

Panicked slightly at unrecognised warning light on car - low screenwash seemingly - huge pleasure in diagnosing & fixing same. Screenwash on promotion too!

Mum with 5 lads & 1 shopping trolley, coping with what is doubtless intended as cooperation.

Dickering with family as to difference between trimphone & trill phone.... if any.

“So your mother doesn’t kill us all in her sleep” - I do get wrathful when thank you letters take a near quarter of the year to be written, but I don’t *think* I’ve been homicidal about it. [Arrived & relatives properly charmed!]

I have shopped to the list. The pleasure is in speculating what my devout northern husband will achieve with three sorts of lentils... [Nothing as yet, but who knows?!.]

Awed at the courage of Abdul Aziz, who attacked the gunman in NZ armed with a credit card reader & his faith.

And at anther end of the spectrum of humanity, son’s expression having tried a bowl of granola. Managed not laugh til he was out of earshot...

The plantar has kicked back in again. Wonderful pod team located the insoles I hadn’t collected (ahem) & now my feet are re-learning sensible moving.

The emporium not only has cute foldaway eco designer bags at a price I can manage for the impending birthdays of female relatives, it still does free coffee. Still a glorious brew.

Trying to assemble a memory stick of key documents & finding old Christmas letters. Ah, nostalgia!

Son has squirrelled several complete tv series for me. All I need now is the immobilising injury. <thoughtful glare at plantar foot>

“You, you, woman-thing!” Lads bickering again. “On behalf of women, & things, hoy!”

Cherry blossom buds bulging & so nearly all green, nearly ready to pop with florets then the amazing bubbles of popcorn blossom.

The trees have tiny green marker pen top buds, lurid green against the damp black!

Just given an elderly volunteer I know through a local museum a lift home from the supermarket - she’s a sweetie, her heart is in the right place & she makes me feel amazingly young & coherent. The pleasure is in her company & knowing she’s safe home with all her shopping.

My work laptop is updating & as I watch the percentage slowly click up “a mindfulness opportunity!” chirps my boss. I smile sweetly & redirect the fire axe fantasy towards a person rather than a machine... I’m pretty sure a vigorous fantasy life saves lives.

Oh the unspeakable joy of a colleague who knows - tasked with shipping something internally, I shot down to our support team & there the brains trust saw me sorted. We can’t get a decent pay rise for the civil service through fast enough!

Whoo - just seen three huge concrete plus something slabs delivered to the building site. Pretty much the size of the waggon delivering! Awed to imagine just lifting...

Seeing the Jewish children in fancy dress for Purim chattering happily on the way home, so bright alongside their orthodox parents.

Parents evening - the pleasure is seeing how the teachers illuminate with enthusiasm and the lads radiate back.

One of our scouts is tiny but with a ferociously feminist mum - we say the scout is a Northern matriarch, just young. The height, the heft, the husband may come with years but the unassailable authority is there already - she’s a joy!

Took a day’s flexi to get some paperwork sorted - lost most of it to son’s PIP claim (solid tosh but he was told to apply & ‘helped’ by someone supposedly wise to its ways) but PPI claims now started. Only a handful of mainframes & assorted deities know what the answers may be, but stamped & posted & out of my hands for a bit. Pleasure in getting it started & squelching the doubt.

Sis is away marching in London - discussing loos & logistics, she was clear “I plan to be unambitious and not very brave”. Yet she’s marching. Proud of her putting her feet where her opinions are.

“There’s an idiot on the Internet” “only one?!” - blimey my sons take a very well informed view of some digital playgrounds.

Son watching Forever - love how hero keeps resurfacing in the river...

Right. Health, strength, love, courage, and appropriate clothing as needed to all & onwards!
  • Wine Train today. BoPsie will be happy. More later.

Bit rainy so did Cabie Car Museum and town. More cable car and tram. Mac and cheese was eaten and Steam Wobbleade drunk.

Hello. It's been a beautiful day here. Sunny, dry and a good stiff breeze that dried all the washing.

Fabulous chat with my Australian friend this morning, two hours of catching up. My conversations are still peppered with much coughing and spluttering which is annoying ( for both the cougher and the listener! )

Went to allotment with GN. We won an Easter egg in a tombola at supermarket on the way so we added the chocolate bar inside it to our picnic lunch.

Mulched another path at the side of my first patch. Had a nice chat with a chap there, it was his first visit...I obviously sounded like I'd been there for ever...actually just 3 weeks! GN was good company and worked hard with her bucket and trowel ...back and forth whilst I trundled with the wheelbarrow.

'That looks like horse poo!' That is horse poo! And lots of it! I've just messaged chap in charge to see if there were any plots left and there is and as a bonus the one next to mine is free ( was a community one) and has already been dug and dunged! So I now have three plots. Two for veg and one for flowers and herbs I think.

Extra long walk as we headed down beyond the allotments and walked along by the river ( I've never in all my time been that way ( that was OH's side of the river so he would have walked there when he was a boy) came to a dead end and had to turn back. Went to play area in country park which was mobbed so I sat and enjoyed gentle warmth whilst the GN had so much fun! Then a trek back home via T for a bunch of daffodils for her mother.

Popped into my mother's to invite her for birthday lunch on Friday. My sister is coming up on Thursday so have added a lunch to my days plans! Was only in for 5 minutes.

Then still had to walk home by this time we were both quite wearied!

Dropped DD2 off for work and picked up some very yummy food for tea.

    Beautiful sunset.

Just waiting to hear if I'm having to go back out and pick up DD ( hope not but shall if I have to!)

    A good day :)

Sue I hope your OH is feeling a bit brighter today. Squeezes for you both X
  • On the wine train. Tom soup had. BoPsie has had too much wine and dropped her phone and. Apple store Store Union Square is ...
