5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

How do I write of pleasures, right now, one week back from my little country, Aotearoa?
I am just breathing in, breathing out, trying to take in what does not happen in the Land of The Long White Cloud.
Oh yes, irony is that it finally puts me in absolute fraternity with my sacred hexagone of France.
I'm thinking of many recent chats and conversations with family and old schoolfriends, citing our good fortune, that we were blessed to have a land where lives were not at risk for speaking freely. That is no longer quite true, even though the parallel is not exact.
KIA KAHA!
I don't suppose I should be posting here at all today, but because I can, I am.
I often close here with 'All Blessings' and mean it.
I do again now - Te mau haamaitairaa katoa
All Blessings.
Yesterday, I put TE AROHA and NEW ZEALAND bumper stickers on my car, to sit beneath Je Suis Charlie...

Ampersand it's a dark day indeed for such an open, inclusive and welcoming country and the whole world is shocked but is standing with you New Zealanders shoulder to shoulder in support and comradeship and sending you a whole world of love, a black act but it will not change the country or the people and New Zealand will not just survive this but will grow stronger and stand straighter as you hold each other up and go forward.
A little clump of white violets growing beside the lake as I walked Ruby a few minutes ago.
Mr. Heron with his hunched back and stick legs standing under the overhanging branches at the side of the lake, waiting any unsuspecting fish who might swim within reach, still as still as still.....
Finding some large packs of curry powder and Bombay potato spice at less than half price in the garden centre this morning.
Ruby dog who is staying with us until Sunday stayed in the kitchen last night on her own and I got to sleep in my own bed, much better state of affairs all round!
A choral society concert of Handel and Vivaldi to look forward to tomorrow evening, I'm so glad DD1 sings, it's one of my greatest pleasures of all time.0 -
Ampersand, sending thoughts and love to you and ChristChurch, on a dark day.
1 Red curry with coconut rice between 2 of us teamed up with some pappadums was lunch, it was nice for a change but certainly would be disappointed if we paid full price. But at 75p rather than 7.50 it was lovely.
2 Feeling a lot better for resting but still a few more days of it, and the house is looking incredibly grubby, I swear the animals have taken the opportunity to have a 12month moult overnight and I can’t do anything about it!
3 In it to win it for once I remembered.
4 Reading a Matt Haig book.
5 Opening up the caravan from it’s winter hibernation, I’ve cleaned the bathroom top to bottom, and part of metalwork we used on dads wheelchair ramp is now upcycled to fix a bathroom shelf, bathroom mats drying on the radiator and a coat of polish added to the rest of the van, tomorrow the fridge freezer is to be disinfected and van door cleaned up.0 -

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Smaller son spent a whole day at school and pretty much finished his catering coursework! Had a jolly phone call from his specialist teacher.
2) Cleaned the hens sleeping quarters out. My brother started to build the base of the greenhouse.
3) Started sorting the village hall ready for bigger son's fund raising coffee morning tomorrow. Wheeled the table tennis table out too.
4) Driving lesson for bigger son then he had his hair cut at the barbers. I left my new to me charity shop cardigan in there so will have to collect it next week.
5) Collected smaller son from school.
6) Chips from the van for tea.
7) Bigger son went to games night with my brother in law.
8) Watched half of the Last Leg.0 -
Good morning! I thought we were walking up to snow but it's just lashing and lashing with rain.
Friday was quite busy.
Went into town with DD2.
Bought a willow tree from my florist. 'Oh we were just talking about you!' My birthday 'party' is a floral workshop with friends. So florist was going to call me to confirm dates. And then I walked in!
Had a breakfast in pub/ restaurant. Stuffed.
Walked out to doctors to pick up a prescription for DD2 and walked back through park. The day was a mix of sun then showers ( and oh so windy) but we walked through park in a sunny moment. River very high and daffodils swaying on the banks.
Went into cheap charity shop and got a couple of gardening jackets.
Back home. Quick doggy walk in between the showers, it was heavy when it rained then hello sun again!
They niecelys came back up.
Then DD eventually came in. Poor thing had had a burst tyre whilst on a driving lesson . She hit a pot hole. They'd to wait for recovery to come. Anyway she now knows more about her instructor than she did before. Think they're both a pair of blethers!0 -
Love that idea for your birthday Mhags.
Friday pleasures,
Another fast day but they are getting easier.
Clear out of the study and lots of shredding done, very satisfying.
Still so windy, the windows in the cottage have been shaking at times  spoke to friend at yard and we are convinced the winds are responsible for our bad headaches this week.
Equine girlie worked well, excited with our cantering so lots of snorting going on but no naughtiness.
Steak burgers, friend mushrooms and cheesy beans for tea, was ready for that!
Finished my book, luckily have the next one in the series waiting in the wings0 -
Ooh which Matt Haig are you reading PK - I've read 'how to stop time', and 'reasons to stay alive'. I have humans on my Kindle but haven't read it yet.
Pleasures for yesterday - hard to find as i'm not doing much except working:
1. Walked around the block - had to force myself to go but I enjoyed it.
2. Am in a using up food phase so had a greek(ish) salad for lunch and smoked mackerel, jacket spud and coleslaw for tea. Took me back to my student days when smoked mackerel was a bit of a staple for us.
3. work going ok. S L O W L Y but ok
4. Being able to communicate with OH in India. Hopefully he will be able to rejoin the tour on Monday
5. More camellia flowers out.
Have a nice day all - I am still working...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

VJsmum, I’m half way through one you’ve read, How To Stop Time. He’s a new author to me, don’t know where I’ve been:o. I was trying to gather up my guts to go along to a reading club on my own, this was on their reading list, I happened across it in a 3 for a pound CS. I’m looking forward to reading his next would you recommend Reasons to Stay Alive?
1 We popped out to lidl for the weekend cheese offer, pleasure being there was enough cheese for us to pick up plenty on the offer this time. It was so busy out that we abandoned plans to go to the great garden centre, it’ll be there next week,
2 Home, cuppa and plodded on making the office my own. Took up warm water and fairy to clean up the window, frame and sill, and threw a few bits and bobs away after umming and ahhing, we still have a fax machine! Is that vintage or er just clutter!:rotfl:
3 Our duvet is now ferret bedding. The duvet from the caravan is now our duvet, and the new dunelm teddy fluffy duvet will now do it’s stint in the van. Clean bedding on ours and used bedding through the machine.:)
4 I had ferret help with all of the above, and loved how when I let her in the office a place she’s not normally allowed, when I finished cleaning, and called her name she came running to me from under one of the units where I had heard her sneezing.:)
5 I would love to order in a takeaway tonight and really fancy a Chinese, but I am saving to replace my wedding ring which went in the burglary last year! And as the fridge is heaving with food so it’s cold meats, I’ll cook up the sausages, salad and new pots for tea. :)Leftover apple pie for later. I really want to order the ring now, but we have paid out so much recently, we also need to reign it in.0
