  • I wanted to get on with the glossing of the hallway and kitchen but the weather is too un promising so will have to wait a few days.

1 I'm writing this on a notepad on the phone so there may be less this week, as my laptop decided it has had enough.
2 Anything that's classed as windows, glass frame, mirrors, display cabinets etc, was all cleaned up with vinegar and paper, we seem to have a lot of them. Oven also cleaned.
3 Three loads of washing done, 2 of animal bedding and 1 of ours, before I popped a descaler and cleaner through.
    4 Fish for tea.
5 Watching Fantastic Beasts on itv.

    Pleasures for today (Monday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Hoovered and steamed the floors, load of washing, mountain of washing up etc.

    3) Hens well.

    4) Went to the Carers' Choir for the first time. Felt a bit of a fraud because everyone cares for their children without saying they are a "carer" and all the other ladies were looking after their spouses. The singing was good and we had a cup of tea.

    5) Tried to sort things out with sons' savings account. One is still taking money from my account each month yet neither their bank no my online banking seems to have a standing order or record of this! Shall have to go in again tomorrow. It did mean there was more in than I was expecting so I took some out to pay the roofing man when he comes round next week.

    6) Went to Aldi and got quite a lot for £14.

    7) Had yesterday's casserole for lunch then made gammon, roast pots and sweet pots, broccoli, stuffing and gravy for tea.

    8) My brother came round in part to survey my poor woodburning stove :-( I knew the back plate had warped slightly but there is now a proper gap (so now we know why it's pulling in too much air!)

    9) Bigger son has an interview on Saturday for a job that would really suit him. Although he still loves his job at the garage locally so would keep that going. He's just been talking to me about his plans this year.

    Good Morning,

Up early after another disturbed sleep worrying about things not done. Reading back and catching up on this weeks pleasures to put me in a more positive frame of mind.....

    Sunday

    1. Birthday day :D. DH got me the Escape to the Chateau book. (What a surprise :p), and my favourite flowers.

    2. Trip out to Moreton in the Marsh to collect a sink bought on EBay. DH drove, so I got to look at the countryside and I may have dozed off a few times.

    3. Face time with DD.

    4. Posh restaurant meal with all my boys. (Missed my girlie). They gave us a window seat, which is usually extra, so enjoyed the view.

    5. Generally spoilt for the day.

    Monday

    1. Gave work friend a lift into work, as she is collecting a new car.

    2. Pottered about in the classroom preparing for lessons.

3.I now have a key to a cabinet to lock the tools away......Result after months of asking. :j

    4. Sausage casserole done in the slow cooker with After Eight Icecream for afters.

    5. Just time for a Vera before bed.

    Have a lovely day today:)
  • My five for Monday were;

    1) Beautiful sunny but cold day

    2) Sold my car :j:j:j. Been thinking about doing this for ages as I don't like driving so rarely drive. Since getting my senior bus pass I just travel by bus. Feeling ecstatic that I've actually done it.

    3) After garage I went to the library and printed off my budget sheets and goals list for last year. I never have any luck with printers so much better and cheaper printing in the library @ 20p per sheet.

    4) Sat and rejigged my budget as I'm now don't have to put by £55 each month for car insurance, mot etc plus petrol money. I am now allocating £25 for a Taxi fund in case of emergency.

    5) Spent 50 minutes holding on to cancel car insurance policy to be told there is a £45 cancellation fee . Pleasure is I'm still being refunded £137.

This has been a momentous decision for me - just hoping I don't regret it xx

house elf Happy belated birthday :bdaycake:

A belated Happy Birthday to HouseElf, sounds like you had a good day.

    Monday pleasures,

Blue skies and sunshine but a blisteringly cold wind, nice to see the sun though.

Window cleaner turned up, saves either of us getting up a ladder which we both hate.

Saw princess pony, she was in a funny mood and was grumbled at for nibbling after which she sulked!

Beautiful sunset followed by a clear, starry evening.

Tuna, broccoli and butter bean bake for tea, good winter fare.

Oh my word a birthday snorker cas a roll! Happy Birthday HE

V Strange that BoP has moaned on and on and on and on and on and on since just afore the xmas and that it was a good six weaks before the next pay packet would come. Then he harked about the card the comforts of xmas was squandered on that hit the mat on 5th January and needed paying before you got the money! Just yesterday he did explain that it is only four weaks to the next pay, so divide by five and put a fifth away! Well is seems that some of the loom operatives, sorry doom and gloomers, no just doomers, have run out of this months money already! Dear me! Rule of gran BoP. Dairy, pen! That’s it! And she always put her birthday in it!

Just in case you thought BoP was having a go and had never had to budget, when I went to school to get me degree, Bliar had introduced that teaching tax! So I had to do one more year and still pay the mortgage. I claimed for most and did run out with three months to go! No problemo! Shame the nice lady opposite who espoused that I was in my house with BoPsie, and she was in her nice car working, her husband working! Well one day whens mes and a friend were doing a report, the van turned up opposite. Shouting me friend, I said “It’s the Bailiff this time!” He panicked some what thinking they were … Then they went to their house and turfed them out onto the street. They left with the car! Never saw them again!

4 I see T is reducing their choice for you. Avoid. They reduced the choice on the high street, now they’ve got most punters cornered! Boycott. Please be aware that if you do work on the high street, get out now!

3 That be rant BoP today! Got it! Now about mes lunch box again! Had major panic as I forts I had not put the chocolate digestive in today! But BoP has done so! Three cakes of Jaffa, boiled egg, mixed salad, orange, oranges in orange jelly and apple cheese smoked! Tea is also available in boiler room!

2 Interviews today. Two on the bounce, usual rules. My questions and … I donts needs humane remains to … Don’t get BoP started!

Not had one today! But I needs to knows whether to get trifle sponges for my Jelly?

    And with that, cheerio

Snow day! Hurrah! But only because I didn't have to be anywhere!

My disappointment when I woke at 5.30am to no snow was turned around to a joy on a very snowy dog walk at 7.30am!

Garden chap turned up to say it was too snowy to work ( fair enough) but I do have a skip in the front garden again!

Got myself all cosy and sat and read library book till it was finished.

Had fried egg on toast for lunch. I'm not really an 'eggy ' person but had a notion.

Walked to supermarket in snow whilst talking to niece on phone. Multitasking!

Then a lovely late afternoon walk with Haggis. Sky was beautiful .

Making lasagne for dinner. Along with some roast parsnips and rosemary. My big lasagne dish doesn't fit in new oven and I chucked my other one out the other day ( handle broken and all cracked) so we are having a smaller one and a portion of sauce for the freezer.

    Have a nice evening.

    1) we'd written a grant application that needed to be in noon. fortunately i bumped into someone else in team and said 'has it been submitted' at 11:45 and turned out 'Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. So Nobody did what Anybody could have.' but then someone did phew. fingers crossed.
    2) lunch was los from previous day's bring and share yum
    3) new principal gave talk to whole school. i asked a question and found his reply encouraging
