Pleasures for today (New Years Day).

    1) Woke at 11.

    2) Took an hour to do the washing up, put washing on, clean downstairs after the party.

    3) Fed the cat and the hens and all well.

    4) Smaller son and I went to see the football and much improved on Boxing Day. Won 2-1 in the second local derby, versus Hereford. And this with only 10 men!

    5) Gammon for tea with roast veg and Yorkshire puddings. Plus the last mince pies for a long time.

    6) Brother came round.

    7) In bed now with an overly hot hot water bottle and will watch the Christmas Bake Off.

    Good Morning,

    New Years Day

    1. Woken about 7am by DS2 asking for a lift home from town. Pleasure being it could have been earlier! :rotfl:

    2. Horrid cold........ Spent the morning reclining on the sofa looking at challenges on MSE. I am not keen on NY resolutions, as they tend to be negative, but a positive challenge would be good. So far I have narrowed it down to 'Frump to Fabulous in 2019' and trying to do some surveys to earn money.....as I do love a survey :rotfl: I am also drawn to the Nice People thread and of course, I will be continuing on with the decluttering :D

    3. Decided to have a bonfire in the afternoon using the bag of used wrapping paper as a fire starter. This was a pleasure on several levels....cleared some of the mess in the 'builders yard' of a garden and minimised a bag of rubbish. (The refuse collectors are working to rule again). I find tending a bonfire very mindful and I was able to breathe:rotfl:

    4. LO for lunch and roast dinner for tea. Used up some rtc chicken breasts from my Lidl haul, and made roast potatoes in the Actify. (Why have I never thought of this before?). Christmas pud for afters.

    5. Evening spent watching Dr Who and Luther, while quilting another square of my quilt to stay awake :rotfl: Interupted by DS2 needing a lift to his friends to play Dungeons and Dragons :rotfl:

Hoping for a quiet day to get rid of this cold.......DH back to work and I need to start planning for a return to school :(

    Have a lovely day :)

morning all - having a cup of coffee before i set to for a few hours before catching the train home.

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. woke with a fairly clear head - my sinuses are playing up so don't know if the dull headache was them or not, but sinutab cleared it
    2. OH and i did an early morning circuit. Saw three people and two dogs...
    3. OH caught the train back to civilisation - well, at least, the football :p I started work again. I like the motto, DD, and it's something i need to stick to (geddit :rotfl:). THis is the year i [STRIKE]should[/STRIKE] WILL finish my PhD and I want it done now. I am still loving it, but it's time it was finished.
    4. Took the decs down and carefully wrapped them for next year. Before I leave i shall have a jaunt to a local shop to see if there's any in the sale. they have lovely decs and, if they are half price, will be about the right price
    5. Beautiful starlit bike ride to next village and back. Was nippy but gorgeous. had dinner with friends and other friends brought pud!.. Wasn't too late home as others had an early start this morning.

Have a lovely day all - i shall do marking on the train and work when I get home. Also taking decorations down at home today - they start to look silly once the new year kicks in.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    NYD pleasures,

Using up the bacon in a buttie, would have been rude not to.

House meeting, something we do every year when decisions are made on possible expenses and, much nicer, potential holidays discussed. This year is Capt S’s 50th so a celebration is on the cards.

We have a Mistle Thrush that has taken to coming in to the back garden, beautiful bird.

Went over to see princess pony, had a good catch up with several of the other liveries (we are usually like ships passing in the night, especially in the winter) so a very sociable visit. Best bit of news was that the one toxic livery who is a real queen bee and tends to creat a drama all the time is moving on to pastures new :j

Enjoyed Christmas Bake Off and then spent most of the time watching Luther from behind a cushion.

& The Mumbai suburban railway! If you ride on top or the side, it is free, though the overhead wires has cut down the number of season ticket holder!

V Not really a pleasure going back to the mill to see the ponds frozen over. Though the black and white cate did I think miss her wanders around the boiler room! Fires are on and toes are warming.

4 Picking up the new tableware later as the previous one was all chipped. Was proper Denby carp, avoid.

3 BoP trimming in the Gym for his beach ready looks, only less than 11 tweaks until on tour at Fisherman’s Wharf. More later!

2 Raffles who has bin strutting his bits around, has been quite a tad last couple of days. Last weak he hads his flea thing which he does not like and on Sunday, he was grabbed for his worming. He sulked under the tree. Not happy. This morning he managed to snap out of it when he got his buzzard and ostrich sachet. Other varieties are available.

Having more than one today, kettles has boiled in boiler room for the tea. Lunch and I has had seven mugs, cups are too posh! I see that custard creams are in short supply due to some audiovisual event! It was on the radio. Steve Allen on LBC. Makes more sense of things than the …

Please do not plan your year, otherwise the word premeditated gets thrown around in court!

Late lunch of scrambled egg & smoked salmon on toast

My takeaway curry from Sunday finished - 3 meals for me so ended up being quite MSE :money:

Birthday cards up to end of April, bought, written, addressed, weighed & dates marked for posting :rotfl:

    Hi, I've had a lovely day today - here's my 5 pleasures;

    1) Slept from 11 till after 8 without wakening at all :j

    2) Took down Xmas decorations and washed Xmas tablecloths. Silly me hung them out on the washing line - they were frozen to the rope and like boards when I took them in. Thawed quickly once inside.

    3) After lunch I went for a walk. It was freezing but really beautiful in the winter sun. I came across two deer who ran like the wind to get away from me. Don't know who got the biggest fright, them or me.

    4) On my way back I popped into my friend's who was 56 today. Enjoyed a cup of hot tea and my usual Tunnocks tea cake.

    5) Quick dinner using up stuff from the bulging fridge. Macaroni, bacon and mushrooms with creme fraiche. Then Chocolate Orange cheesecake from yesterday. Also a glass of rose wine. This is the life.

Tonight I'm looking forward to watching Kirstie and Phil at 8 then Luther at 9 xx

    Bedtime.

I have spent various parts of today with my hands down a blocked loo...yes as much fun as it sounds. New loo...silly fancy u-bend so can't reach! Have tried home remedy, have tried super duper chemicals but because it's round the fancy u bend they're not reaching so just sitting in water at bottom of bowl. It may be plumber call out tomorrow. I shall add it's not my bathroom!

Niece here first thing to pick up her girl...who was still sleeping so we had a nice blether in between loo visits!

Had leftover cauliflower cheese for lunch.

    Watched ( finally) Christopher Robin.

Friend called in which was lovely to see her.

    Mince and potatoes for tea.

Finished my library book...in between waiting for loo flushes to subside.
