Just in from my friends ...reciprocal surprise visit of last night!

    Up early. Pottered.

Went to T. Just needed a few things.

GN arrived. She's been good fun all day. Though is constant.

We walked down our woods and round our castle. Played down at the river.

    Home. Started another library book.

    Late lunch of sausage rolls.

Son went to the mountains. DD2 was dropped off in town and DD1 and GN and I headed over to friends for an hour or so. GN got her hair and nails done by friends daughter.

Home. Wind is picking up. Not sure how long I'll stay up. Had intended just going to bed but feel a bit sorry for DD1 on her own some!

Thank you for another year of continued support here. I try and post most days as it makes me concentrate and appreciate what I do have whilst being achingly aware of who I don't have. I love that we share our days and lives all different but perhaps all with similar values.

May 2019 be a good one. Who knows what's ahead but let's try and make the most of everyday because we can.

  • Hi, just getting ready to do to Mums for the Bells 🛎 so a quick post before I leave.

    1) Lots of housework and decluttered upstairs cupboard. I love cleaning cupboards.

    2) Two loads of washing hung out and nearly all dried. What was damp was aired on the radiators and it's all ironed and away now.

    3) Went for a 45 minute walk in the local country park. It was a lovely day for a walk although the ground was sodden in places.

    4) Spicy kebab, tomatoes and rice for dinner. Then the last mince pie with cream for afters.

    5) I have just spent all evening writing and calculating my spends for last year. Quite a shock - spent loads on holidays - had 6 short breaks in the UK, a month in Australia and 6 days in New York. There were extenuating circumstance for 3 of the holidays but even so it's a big chunk out of my savings.

2018 has been my "annus horribilus" in respect of health and family matters. I am so glad it's over and am very optimistic that 2019 can only get better.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND BEST WISHES FOR A GREAT 2019 xx

    Finished sorting my personal correspondence

The rain has stayed away :T

Pleasures for today (New Years Eve)

    1) A lie in!

    2) Got house tidy ready for the party. Managed to snap a bit off the shower case whilst cleaning it (!) which is annoying.

    3) Hens well.

    4) Went into town for football tickets for tomorrow, a few groceries and some petrol.

    5) Finished the trifle. Made curry (bigger son made that), rice and naans. The curry took over 3 hours!

    6) My brother and school friend came for New Year Eve. Big meal then played poker and watched Jools.

    Happy new year, everyone!

    Happy New Year!

New Years Eve.....and the cold has taken a turn for the worse :(

    1. Went to a meeting about a student. Feel very virtuous for attending in the hols.

    2. Few bits of shopping in The Emporium, and Lidl, for buffet snacks. Also managed to use up the last of our Costa vouchers.

    3. Trip to local wine bar with the doggies. Felt too poorly to drink wine, so volunteered to drive and had a posh cup of tea. (Very small cup of tea!). WhatsApp's from DD celebrating New Year.

    4. We were supposed to be playing board games , but ended up just chatting and eating a few nibbles then watched Jools. (Marc Almond looked very strange).

    5. New Year celebrated with Prosecco.

Happy New Year Everyone! Thank you for sharing your lists of daily pleasures, and I look forward to 2019 :)
  • One more pleasure for 2018 into 2019 - the Street light in our front garden was off :T so dark enough to see a few stars in the night sky :D

  • Happy New Year - I've been a bit awol for the last few weeks but getting back on track with my MSE challenges and gratitude :)

    - Had a lovely Xmas with all of the family, such a lovely time

    - We were slightly thrown off kilter by a horrible and untrue Google review by a totally unreasonable customer who we parted ways with months ago, obviously timed to ruin Xmas/New Year - we debated how to respond, slept on it and in the end decided to not engage but to move on, and focus instead on asking happy customers to leave good reviews, and I'm happy that I'm not letting it get to me and I'm feeling very positive this morning, life goes on! We just have to hope that people will see that with one bad review in the midst of positive ones, there is more to it than meets the eye, and nothing we can do anyway :)

    - Got all of my MSE challenges set up for the month

    - Had some garden centre vouchers for Xmas and managed to buy quite a few lovely pots in the sales, some to replace the ones which cracked and broke in the Beast from the East and some just because :D - planning what to plant in them, always a pleasure :)

    - We've got quite a lot done over the holidays, both at home and work, tidying, rearranging, taking stuff for recycling/the tip if no other option, and feeling more in control and positive :)

    NYE pleasures,

The antibiotics started to kick in and started to feel a tad better.

Did nothing and I mean nothing all day, watched two old episodes of Lewis, listened to a download of Derek Jacobi reading Maigret’s Christmas and was generally a best friend to my sofa.

    Snuggles with little dog.

Had a text conversation with DB, who is nursing a sore back, and commiserated with each other.

2018 ended for me at just gone 10pm but was ok with missing all the celebrations.

Happy New Year to you all, may 2019 bring you bucketloads of whatever makes you happy.
