Pleasures for today (Tuesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Spent three hours glossing all the skirting board and window sills in the living room and kitchen. It does look better for it.
3) Phoned the police for a final update about bigger son's stolen motor bike and (again) got the world's jolliest policeman! They should have him starring in recruitment videos - everyone would want to join the police force! Also phoned the insurance company and added his bike to the home insurance because it would be awful if that was stolen as well.
4) Hens well.
5) Ordered and bought quite a few bits of Christmas shopping. Just my brother in law and my school friend to buy for now...
6) Met my other school friend for a cup of tea.
7) Helped my brother carry a Christmas tree up to his village church (accessible only via a 500m long path).
8) Watched brother and dad of Frith on Midlands Today! They work at the holly market every year and were on the preview and at length in the report. They will also be on Countryfile this weekend (we think).
9) Smaller son went to the pub to watch a football match (on Sky) with my brother.
10) I watched Holby then phoned my school friend who might not be able to come here on New Years Eve - the end of an era after 14 years.0 -

Tuesday pleasures,
A furniture delivery, pleasure was they were 30 minutes early for their two hour slot so it didn’t hold up my day.
A little lads pride in showing the lady behind the counter in the farm shop the Father Christmas he had drawn.
The pheasant that was going to throw itself under my wheels changed it’s mind at the last minute, had an idiot close behind me so couldn’t have braked if I wanted to. The idiot then overtook me on a narrow country lane  but the added pleasure of catching him up half a mile down the road, stuck behind a large tractor :rotfl:
Watched the updated Gambit film, not great but any film that has Colin Firth striding around in his undies
Football, the ups & downs of, DN and his team were knocked out of the FA Yourh Cup and boy was it cold watching it but home to good news in the Champions League.0 -
Limo. Then zzzzzzx0

Had brunch inn Bell Inn Hand. Had smutty nose brown dog. BoPsie had wicked weed lunatic blonde. Boston Cream Cake was also consumed.
Now packing. Short trip. Air Chariot later.
A great trip! We had our last night meal at the Union Oyster House across the road. Boston Baked Beans were yummy, but a little bit more expensive than Heinz :rotfl:
Yesterday
1. Tried to go back to school again, but got sent home again. So relieved to get home.
2. Snoozed for the rest of the morning, but rallied in the afternoon. Managed to make more flapjacks and mince pies.
3. Pork chop, chips and beans for tea.
4. Converted a battery light up star to mains light up star. Put it in front room window. One of the lights dropped out. The search for the missing light bulb triggered tidying DS1 stuff off the window ledge........which ended up in vacuuming and mopping whole room  DH arrived home just in time to move the sofa.....Eventually found the lightbulb in the bin
5. The final Mrs Wilson.....in more ways than one :rotfl:
Have a lovely day0 -
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Some lovely written feedback in advance of my end of year review, and feeling on top of work.
2. Mum came over last night and gave me her birth certificate - can now send off Irish passport application, yippee.
3. Cancelled my place and hotel room at the work Xmas do. Relief! I love my colleagues but I need rest, and absence won't be noticed in a sea of 200. Looking forward to last French class of the year instead, then snuggling with DH. Hoping DH won't mention the 80EUR backless dress I bought 'for the party' in Ireland last month
4. Personal training session with lovely PT who is encouraging and patient with me.
5. Came in under calorie budget and actually really enjoyed my supper of veggie sausages, broccoli and beetroot(!)0 -
I’m trying to write down Christmassy food bits to get, but I’m struggling I’ve got as far as baileys cream and good cheese.
1 Watching the birds in the garden.
2 We travelled to pick up df's ashes, and then went around back roads to visit where dh used to live and travel country roads.
3 We got back had a cuppa and then went for a long walk with the animals.
4 Tidied up the fridge and created a pasta bake with things in there, commented to dh how tidy the fridge looked and he clarified it with “empty”!
5 I had a problem; the docs saw me as an emergency tonight and have prescribed something strong for a back spasms a pleasure to be seen.0 -
I'm home! And a bit wide awake in a totally knackered kind of way!
New York was fabulous but 5 days was quite enough.
Icelandair are my favourite airline!
This mum has been to Iceland this morning.
My three children. Though was growling at the two I'd left here...please keep things tidy request was not heeded.
Dinner of steak pie (not home made wouldn't buy again) RTC potatoes and parsnips roasted , carrots broccoli and sprouts. Hello veggies! I've missed you!
Bought a potted tree that will go out in garden. It looks very pretty.
Kids went down to their dads best friends. Took dog. Much hilarity apparently so that was good. Much peace and quiet here. Dog hasn't left my side all day.0 -
Well done, MHags! My mum also went to Iceland on her way to the US.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday).
1) Good to get up after a rare rubbish sleep. The advent chocolate was milk, not dark, so all was well with the world.
2) Took smaller son to school and had a little sit in a caf! I had never been in and had 2 cups of tea.
3) Went to Sainsburys and ALL THE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IS DONE! Also popped to the library.
4) Spent 2 hours wrapping all the presents. Got a bit over confident at one point, cutting the paper - and managed to snip the palm of my left hand...
5) Hens very perky today though Suzy is moulting and now has one tail feather!
6) Final post decorating clean up of downstairs. I am quite happy with it now. Dusted, hoovered, steamed the floors etc.
7) Bigger son worked for the garage man all day, helping him move to another storage site and was allowed to drive the 4x4 up the yard, which pleased him greatly. He really likes working there. He has given up his pub job (after 2 years) as he had to work 11am-7pm on Christmas Day (no compromise allowed). He only works 3 hours a week there so that was a particularly silly request.
8) My brother came round for 2 games of Settlers of Catan and I won one.
9) Jacket potatoes for tea.
10) Watched the last update programme of I'm a Celebrity.
Not so many jobs to do tomorrow so I might get the Christmas decorations out...
ETA - really enjoying this site at the moment and they're doing carols from the barn tomorrow. https://www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/webcams0
