Evening Folks,
DH is out at Christmas Meal with work. I missed mine last night.
Today's......
1. Finally have an appointment for the doctors tomorrow. I will probably feel better, and the doctor will have me down as a malingerer!
2. Felt a bit brighter this afternoon, so drove up to new shopping park and bought family cards in Card Factory and treated myself to medicinal festive hot chocolate in Costa. Lots of parking and not busy cos it's so new, so didn't have to walk very far from the car.
3. Managed to do a few little jobs this evening. Not that anyone would notice, as House has been neglected for 2 weeks, but pleased I have done something.
4. DS1 at work and DS2 at Cadets, so House to myself. Watched George Clark and Jamie Oliver programmes.......swoon.
5. I have been awarded a grant from the British Science Association to fund an event for British Science Week, so taking Year 11 class to Lego Birmingham. :j
Night night0 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son here a.m so we replaced the broken slab in the patio (which is over the septic tank pipe so if you trod on the broken piece, it tipped up and nearly shot you down the drain!)
3) Brother here before lunch for 2 games of Settlers of Catan.
4) Found it very hard to be motivated today but I did do washing, tidying and polished the piano and the ancient TV unit (no small task).
5) Hens well.
6) Picked smaller son up from school and did my Christmas delivery to all his TAs of damson jam, crab apple jelly and sloe gin. Also the library and school books I said I was sure we did not have... He has had a major falling out with the specialist teacher and we both agree we can't get him to do anything. I generally nod and agree with him but today I had to look off into the distance so I wouldn't laugh when he said that yesterday smaller son had called him a "silly little man". :-O
7) Also got bigger son from college. He was upset because a bearing has broken on his bike.
8) Got the tree dug up from my brother's. Just got it in and put the lights on so far.
9) Bigger son went to games night with my brother and brother in law.
10) Kedgeree for tea then made a tray of mince pies.0 -
1 The fresh Christmas food list has got longer.
2 Washing loads cycled around, clean bedding put on, chicken carcasses pressure cooked for stock, I wouldn’t bother normally but we happened to end up with 3 lots of bones so hopefully the best use.
3 Oh no they didn’t, oh yes, we did, go to the panto, when the local one released cheap locals tickets, it was a good night.
4 Picked up fish and chip tea on the way back.
5 The new animals are truly part of the family and settled in, it’s lovely to see them learn and discover and trust more every day.
6 Lovely chit chat with the neighbour who is looking healthier.0 -
1. DS2 girlfriend scraped the ice off my car. She is thoughtful and helpful.
2. Day in London on a study day. Went with a colleague I liked and another colleague turned up who is hard work. The lectures were all very good apart from one which is good going.
3. Walked round London with the colleague I like after. Christmas lights were all worth seeing. We walked from Oxford Street, Regent Street, China town, Leicester Square and Covent Garden.
4/ Had problems finding a restaurant. We eventually found one at Victoria station that had space. Starting to think we would need to buy a big mac! 40% off mains code found so very reasonable price.
5. Trains were ok but had to de ice my car at the station.
6. The moon on the drive home. It was a lovely colour and very large.0 -
Thursday pleasures,
Popped into the garden centre to pick up some suet treats for the birds and spied the cutest Nordic Gonk, he came home with me and now sits on the dining room mantlepiece.
Feeling festive and playing Carols from Kings whilst writing my cards.
Having a chat with our lovely post lady who was making a fuss of little dog.
Lunged my pony, felt mean taking her out of warm stable and removing rug but she was back in within half an hour.
Watched the last episode of Mrs Wilson.0 -
‘Eck of likes!
V to 2. Nows yous know that BoP had his bum checked out a few Fridays ago. Well the news from the quack is good. Note wrong, again. So there. That is what proper foods does for you. So if you eat carp or glycerins or emulsions! The fact that I wolf down hot buttered crumpets with marmite. Snorkers and Best Back. Got it!
Having one today. Previously I have muttered about getting beach ready. I now understand this is stereotyping persons around other areas of the parish who could be affected by my attitude. So in future, I will just say I am like an eel that swims upstream. If you have been previously affected because you have not seen my beached ready looks, pm me and I can send further details.
And that ends this missive0 -
Morning all
well done House Elf
Poor Frith, your DS is not having much bike luck
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. four more christmas presents wrapped and out the door - that is 9 of my 16 done and dusted. 16 is a much reduced number to years ago when it was as many as 45 (not all caused by people dying - some is that other people's children have got older (we only go until they are 21); and things like childminders, cleaners and teachers are no longer required). Of the 7 remaining, 3 are OH, DD and DS, and one is MiL, which i am sorting today
2. Lunch with schoolfriend and her OH. They unexpectedly came to visit the christmas market in birmingham and i was passing through anyway on my way to ICT. Was lovely to see them.
3. Train to ICT was a pain - cancellations and delays. Made hay during one delay to nip to pandora and buy DD 2 charms for her christmas pressie (don't tell her)
4. DS got on my train to ICT and we have a couple of days together. he needs a lot of reassurance at the moment so i was pleased to see him.
5. Made the most of 2 for 1 pizza at cafe bar. leftovers for lunch nom nom.
Have a nice day all - beautiful but cold here.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1 Remembered to be in it to win it fingers crossed yarda yarda:o
2 We’ve decided not to buy a replacement laptop until sales just hoping it can hold on.
3 DH surprised me with we need to go to the shops to replace my bag, to which was met with noooo, however he pointed out we have been together 17 years and in that time I have had 2 handbags and my current one is now apparently embarrassingly shabby, and ops he’s right when I compared it to the ones in the bag shop, we went shopping I chose happily a reduced to 20 pound one but he wants to wait and go to the big department stores to double check.
4 We did the rounds of the usual cheap shops and charity shops and picked up a couple of little things.
5 Popped to Iceland for MIL and picked up a cherry choc gateau one for us and one for them and used a coupon.:)
6 Had tea out at the cafe so we will just have a small snack later.:D0
