Bedtime. Think I'm still in NY time.

I've handed in my notice and work my last shift tomorrow. I was feeling very anxious and ill at the thought of going in to work. Boss said that's the happiest I've looked today after handing it in. It's not them...its me! It's not the place for me. Not where I want to be. It may have got better. But I don't think it would have.

Another busy shift working last 4 hours on my own, clearing an 80 seater cafe! Relentless! I was put down for 4 more of these shifts next week and just thought nope. Not for me. So I shall ( and I know I'm fortunate) just live very simply until one thing better comes up. And supposed to be in on Boxing Day too...it's not an emergency service it's a supermarket cafe! No thank you. Shall enjoy time with my family instead.

Great niece having a sleepover. Mainly with DD1. We went a walk with Haggis round our wee estate to see the Christmas decorations. Had takeaway for tea. Read Christmas stories. Had the tree lights on. ( no one else but me thinks to put them on!)

Got some very RTC flowers and mushrooms for 9p...bought two packs so may make soup at the weekend.

Washing hung up all over the place make the most of the overnight heating. It will kick in as its so cold outside. Foreceast for snow here tomorrow. I'm hoping that means folk won't come out for late afternoon tea!

Beautiful tree decorations from DD1 . A koala, an echidna, a kangaroo and a wombat. Hand painted from Uluru.

    Night x

    Pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Sons had good days at school/college. Mocks are over for smaller son. Bigger son went to a careers interview and is thinking of applying for an access course to ultimately go to university!

    3) I set to work as soon as they'd set off and cleared their room, hoovered, dusted, mould-busted (just above the window) then glossed all the woodwork! Have also emptied out their storage drawers and given them a hoover out. It looks daft now with the bunkbeds pushed out into the middle of the room but I don't want the lower quilt to touch the skirting board...

    4) Hens well though one looked puffed up and annoyed about the cold.

    5) Went to the charity shop to drop a bag off and bigger son found an expensive skater make of t shirt, brand new, for £2.99.

    6) We used our free cake voucher at our local caf! and shared a brownie.

    7) Finished decorating the tree.

    8) My brother popped up for a while.

    9) Tasty tea of Lidl's own brioches and burgers plus chips from the van.

    10) Smaller son fell asleep after tea and woke up 9ish. He's been in a very jolly mood since then and joined us in a game of Settlers of Catan. Bigger son spent an hour or so in his new shed making a wooden train tunnel for my niece's train track.

    11) In bed now with 1hwb and will watch HIGNFY.

    Good Morning,

    Mhags Good decision.

    Yesterday

    1. Visit to the Doctors. She thought Monday was too soon to go back to work, so signed me off until the middle of the week. Described me professionally as 'knackered'. :rotfl:

    2. Went home and went to sleep again.

    3. Wrapped DD presents for her Xmas parcel. Will post it this morning.

    4. Christmas Swing concert at Symphony Hall. Glad I was able to go. Very jolly. (Had some food at the German Market, and a hot chocolate at Costa, with some more vouchers, before the concert). Felt Christmassy. :)

    5. Annoying fidgety, chatty people near me were reprimanded by the usher for using their phones. :D I thanked the usher on the way out.

Risking a trip into town for a new dressing gown. Rock and roll :rotfl:

    1. Day off. I felt the need for it.

    2. Net an old friend at the doctors. Had a quick catch up. Picked up the rest of my prescription and the doctor confirmed what I knew. I will live with it and adapt.

    3. Paid a couple of cheques and some cash into the bank. Also managed to get a couple of little Christmas presents.

    4. Driving home there were some icicles on a hedge by the road. It looked reallyvpretty. The water in the road causing it probably not good when it freezes.

    5. DS1 phoned and had a chat. DS2 went with DH to see MIL.

1 DH and I have started to look around at second hand cars, its bleurgh but a must, ours has been wonderful and what was a stop gap is now 7 years later at the end of its life and it’s approaching quickly now. DH wants to continue to be able to work on a car and we have a specific set of needs e.g. the towing and animal cage size, so now it looks like maybe a 2004 jeep.
2 Sorting through the freezer trying to group things together sensibly.:o I've even labelled the drawers up as well.
3 Casserole made from lots of things, [STRIKE]stale[/STRIKE] / I mean toasted baguette with it.
4 Think I had better wrap up DH’s pressies as I need to remember what I’ve got him stashed all over the place and he plans to do battle with a big shopping centre to get me something which gives me the opportunity to search if I need to.
5 2 drawers sorted out and tidied up,:T still lots more to go.:rotfl:

    Pleasures for today (Saturday).

    1) A lie in!

    2) Nice Advent calendar chocolate.

    3) Porridge and banana for breakfast.

    4) Nice to see the hens, but what a bloodbath this morning. :-( It is always Suzie who gets picked on. She came to us with bald patches (as they all did) but has been very slow to grow her tail back. They have had a quick peck at her before but today there was blood on the grass, on the slab where I put the food and actual droplets hanging from her feathers. They seemed to know I was not pleased with this scenario so I had to stumble around in the mud, in (of course) driving sleet and wind. Eventually I got Suzie and put her in the shed. It has a window and some bedding across the floor now but she must have spent a very boring day. Will assess again in the morning.

    5) Posted another Ebay parcel.

    6) Sugar soaped the walls of sons' room and put all the furniture back.

    7) Found the missing bag of Christmas decorations so now have the stockings and 2 more sets of fairy lights.

    8) Enjoyed watching the Strictly final.

    9) Have just given my brother a lift home from his tennis Christmas dinner. Saw a lot of rabbits on the lane, then 2 muntjac (with a 3rd in the wood, we think) then a badger on my drive home!

    10) In bed with 1hwb and will listen to the radio for a while.

    Pleasures Thursday to Saturday inclusive

DH’s niece treated us to dinner at an Houses of Parliament building called Portcullis House.
Beautiful building inside - water features & trees & a very high domed glass ceiling
    Security checks not too onerous.
Dinner was delicious - DH & I both had carpaccio beef, seared venison loin with potato gratin & roast parsnips - differed on dessert - DH had XMas pudding & cream & I had lemon tart with fresh berries. Our hostess salmon terrine on toast & a pizza, with lemon tart for dessert.
    Small portions but reasonably priced.
Great conversation - all in all a lovely time :D

    Friday, another lovely dry day.
As well as a Christmas card, one of our neighbours gave us a box of chocolate centred mini donuts - 2 each - yummilicious
Watched 5 squirrels in our back garden :D
Entertained by 2 foxes in the front garden :D

Saturday - rained all day - the pleasure is that I didn’t have to go out in it :T
DB phoned & had a long chat with DSis - the pleasure for me is that DSis was very happy :D
Delicious dinner - roasted pork chop, mash & green beans - no los :D
DH has bought new tiles for bathroom floor & will take up old ones & fit new ones tomorrow.

    2. Went to watch rugby. We won but a terrible second half and it was very cold.

    3. Returned items to M and S. Had a coffee to try and warm up.

    4. Went to Wisley to see the lights. It was lovely and the trees were lit beautifully.

    5. Watched Strictly and enjoyed it.

    Good Morning Folks,

    1. Poor builders worked in the freezing cold, have taken down internal walls and boarded up the window spaces, so we will be weather proof until the windows arrive. (Just been down to let the doggie out. Need wellies and a torch :rotfl:).......wondering why we didn't just do this in the first place? Did we need the extension? :o

    2. Trip to town to look for a new dressing gown for me,for Christmas, and Apple Genious Bar appt for DH. Had to wait 2 hours for replacement battery. Had lunch in John Lewis with free tea and cake voucher. Shared quiche and a scone, so cost £6 ish for two. Bought a dressing gown in Rackhams, (House of Fraser soon to be a hotel), and stopped for free hot chocolates in Las Iguanas.

    3. Posted DD Christmas parcel.

    4. Exhausted by trip out into the real world, so had a little sleep.

    5. Gammon and egg for tea. Everyone ate it.

    6. Snuggled up by the fire with Polar Express then another Vera.

Mrs SD How exciting to visit Portcullis House. I have looked up dining at Houses of Parliament and may persuade DH to book for half term.
