Interesting story about the bomber, BoP
& - saw that £50 on a teacher thing too. I have seen some say that, if anything is to be given, could parents donate to charity. I'm sure teachers have plenty of 'best teacher' mugs. i used to give edibles / smellies.

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. a day of not much going out - only one station run
    2. beetroot and chickpea burgers with creamed spinach
    3. Cracked on with work
    4. Part 2 of Mrs Wilson
    5. Got the washing out.

    ANd today

    1. had a good sleep, the first for ages.
    2. got my hair done
    3. actually caught the delivery for DD - we missed it yesterday
    4. Veggie risotto for tea
    5. being able to put the heating on.

    Have a good evening all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Plumduff55 - felt your unjust emporium deprivation strongly enough to scout t'internet:-)
Another NO&B episode, before lights out and 2.30am start for Spits.

In town of horse, lengthy caf! sitting is still achieved by gang of ancients. (& takes cappuccino well away, up on The Gallops, far bits of isolated fen etc.
On nodding terms with most of the clic, avoid 1 or 2 in particular.)
They somehow pay 30p top-up on drinks price to sit down, natter, read papers between themselves. Generally at end of day, so not exactly bedblocking. The time to avoid is during afternoon school run collection.

Night all, munch prepped, lights out now, R4X, digits x'd.
Complete 5 large piece set mid-Victorian fire dogs and irons, heavy. Stonking quality. & has polished the burgers for hours. Far from immaculate, but deffo. eyecatching statementy, hopefully crimbo glinty/gifty.

Bonne nuit....oh, a little extra annual pleasure. Used today's church time, all alone, to sing fave carol: Adam Lay A-Bounden.

  • Might be difficult to find five today but I'll give it a go;

    1) Had an awful sleep last night - the pleasure was when it was eventually time to get up.

    2) I did my dvd exercise for half hour.

    3) Pottered about in the morning getting things organised for forthcoming holiday.

    4) Had an hour's sleep on the couch in the afternoon.

    5) Looking forward to going to bed shortly and reading my book.

    There, I managed five xx

PS Ambersand The link you posted is only for free take away tea and coffee. Free drinks in cafes were stopped on 23/5/18.

And hu-blooming-rah the six shifts in a row have been done ! I have not quit even though I thought about it every day.

This morning was all about the cleaning of the bathrooms, the hoovering if the bedrooms, the changing of my bed.

Then work bang in the middle . Was fine though I've somehow managed to loose my specs ! My new ones. Think they must have fallen in a bin. ( I wear them tucked in my top as have to keep hair covered or would have them on my head. Seriously! I got them 2 weeks ago!

Luckily I do have a spare pair of prescription reading glasses but as I'm now used to varifocto its weird without them.

Met a friend just as I was leaving work so had a quick chat with her.

Popped in to T for loo roll and got RTC bread and parsnips and a box of dog biscuits. Need to remember they're all still in car.

I'm off to New York in the morning so catch up when I can. Off to get my middle daughter all to myself and then bringing her home for Christmas.

Catch up when I can as and when Internet allows!

Have a lovely time with your daughter .
    Today's 5
1 took DH to the Christmas Tree Festival and he admired our WI tree
2 all the trees are nice ,beginning to feel Christmassy now .
3 we had lunch out ( not very M.S.E ) but probably won't be able to for much longer
4 we went to garden centre and found the remaining named mug for a grandson

5 persuaded DH to buy a turning circle for his car seat ,it might make getting in and out easier. He is very resistant to 'aids ' even if they might help.

    Have a good time, MHags!

    Pleasures for today (Wednesday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) My advent calendar chocolate was NOT a revolting dark chocolate one! I wouldn't have bought it if I'd realised it would contain those bitter, nasty horrors.

    3) Painted 3/4 of the kitchen.

    4) Hens well and 3 eggs. Got my car stuck in the mud, despite trying different angles and throwing the "emergency carpet" under one of the wheels. My brother had to come and dig and push me out.

    5) Went to archaeology which was good with nice soup.

    6) Brother came round for a game of Settlers of Catan (which I won).

    7) Babysat my niece this evening.

    Enjoy yourself Mhags.

    1. Long chat with colleague at work. She seemed happier than she has been.

    2. Reading my book on the bus and not getting too wet at the bus stop.

    3. Some Xmas shopping done on internet.

    4. DS2 cooked tea.

    5. Early night as still recovering from jetlag.

    Bon voyage Mhags
Wing those bitter beauties my way Frith, I lurves dark choc.

    Wednesday pleasures,

Drove into town of gown for meet up with pal, the traffic certainly not a pleasure but our catch up definitely was, we’ve known each other 33 years and don’t see each other as often as we’d like.

Home and tummy gurgling with too much coffee so bowl of soup & hm bread for lunch.

Watching a magpie making flying lunges at the filled coconut shell in the apple tree.

Apart from some washing had a bit of a cba afternoon and ended watching an old Inspector Morse.

Got into bed and realised that I hadn’t taken a painkiller all day, hope this means my knee is finally getting better.

    Hullo midears! Seizing a moment.
Blimey Ampersand! Vicarage already has Cards Against? <Blinks, hard> Googled the cloth "kila jambo jema hupangwa na mungu" - apparently "All good things come from God". With your help. Awesome display & hopefully fundraising but fingers crossed fire-dogs-&-irons go for a healthy wad also.
Mhagster - safe & happy travels & may you return with your smashing lass to find the glasses awaiting you.
M&M90 - much intrigued by "borrowed light" paint (oh the blurb!) & hurrah recognition at work!
LaineyT - good stuff emerging from over knee.
Frith - awed, the museum replied, the sheep obeyed, the sons are still in education - you superb wrangler!
villagelife - welcome home to the hens, wet waiting & the delight of children cooking. May your jetlag ease into festive anticipation? Now you've fought down the what-have-I-missed-at-work?
SuffolkSue - Dead right to grab that chicken! Those turning circles are wonderful but we found most of the problems lay in the seat being too far down for knees. (Ended up with borrowing an MPV from friendly garage for certain trips to ensure ease of loading & unloading.) Navigating around ego is hard work, on both sides!
Plumduff5 - getting organised for a holiday? Awed - have never managed to go without chaotic scenes On The Day, usually as I've forgotten the date (ahem). I found the local emporium would permit me a brew just for buying a bag for life & carrying my own reusable cup. (I'd then fill it with black coffee & add milk to the china vessel on my desk if sufficiently motivated.)
VJsmum - much enjoying flapper ball imaginings. Pink gin?
MrsSD - Christmas cards already? Awed!
house elf - hope you are on the mend, it's a rotten bug with nastier timing. A sewing box of paperwork - that's canny, albeit not quite the idea.
BoP - have read, wondering, of John Wynne. Fear they are not making them like that any more. (and Dear Me at the £50 limit on teacher presents - how Very Oxford...)
Purple kitten - of course you think of your dad around now, but can you invite him to join you rather than haunt you (not sure I've worded that right, but hope you know what I mean)

    OS Pleasures recently
"There's no milk up here unless you count PVA" - close enough for government work...

A truly hither-naggers moment, stubbing my little toe on a baulk of elm. Son called "you alright?" (as my language indicated I was fine just in pain & annoyed with myself) & brought tea. Splendid lad!

Sometimes Google auto suggestions answer the question you hadn't quite finished typing. I hadn't finished the woman's name when up popped actress, illness, funeral, husband. Ah. RIP Biddy White Lennon.

Aw, Booths have the measure of my chap - not just milk & sugar but even his own personal retrieved-from-behind-the-counter teaspoon & of course strawberry jam.

Seen & appreciated, "Courage is fear that has said its prayers."

Son has demonstrated thrifty ways turning down the heating. Unfortunately, he did this at the thermostat, so I carelessly got rather too cold before going to investigate.

Youngest asking what people want for Christmas. By text, intended for eldest, to me. He only found this out when I corrected his spelling...

Hornblower! Rousing cheers as bad guy gets it. Fearsome moral lot, my chaps.

I gave travelled along "longmeanygate"! Which had me grinning just reading the sat nav & gurgling with amusement as I drove it's length. Near Preston, should anyone care to share the fun.

Husband has made stew. S'delicious & I have three mugs for the coming days. Yum! Simple pleasures but hm, MS, OS...

Stuffed in traffic but able to see & appreciate bus driver & very festive headgear - exchanged huge grins & thumbs up!

Right, health strength love & courage to all who have need, may your glasses, passports & hwbs be where you first look for them & likewise your friends & family.
