• 1) Meeting DD1 and James for coffee at the garden centre this morning.

2) Lovely drive and more local exploration before we came home, it's SO beautiful round here I'm staggered at just how little it's been spoiled and how rural it still is, we're so very lucky to live here.

3) Message from an old school friend of HWK who is coming close to here next weekend asking if we'd like to meet them for coffee.....yes we would!

4) DD1 sending a photo of the Christmas tree they got on the way home this morning fully decorated, really pretty and Pushkin cat firmly in place under the bottom branches, as he does every year.

5) The smell in the kitchen as I've baked an apple cake this afternoon, made leek and vegetable soup in the slow cooker and am roasting some butternut squash with spices and garlic as the base for our supper this evening, it's yummy!

5 Just listened to the mariners. Why is the Bolshevik Broadcasting Commisariat site so awful to navigate. What is this sounds, or download an app. No I just want to listen to live radio. Then it played the rusty ironwork. Terrible. As for the live tv version, it was supposed to be a FA cup thing. They had more on the gooooners. Carp.

4 Just had second dollop of liver and onions. Proper food with bacon and bits.

3 BoPsie getting her small bagged for the Tea Party. It’s on soon.

2 Nite I’m inn the bridge for a wobbleaxe. No I’ll leave as that! See if you notice!

Having one now. PM2DD Kingston first, then manure?

There’s something new tomorrow in BoPs lunch box!
Stay inn the parish for more!

Bedtime! Though just waiting on a load of washing finishing so will nip back out of bed soon! I need to get my top dry again for work tomorrow! (Sigh)

Went to l!dl first thing. Did 2 X £25 shops and got 2 X £5 off. So well stocked up and the children shall not starve whilst I'm away.
Still had a few vouchers left so passed them on.

Quick dog walk to post a return to sender letter for previous tenant.

Then work. This was not at all pleasurable. I could have wept and walked straight out today. Though it did improve. I hate feeling incompetent. Hate it. But I'm going back tomorrow!

Home! What a lovely doggy welcome.

Made dinner. Pasta with chicken and veg and cream and very yummy.

Chat with friend on phone.

Nice text in reply from another friend.
• My five for today are;

1) Better sleep last night.

2) Bacon with HP sauce sandwich for breakfast.

3) Went for a 3 mile walk after lunch. Not been walking much since I had the cold so really enjoyed the walk today even though it was dull and drizzling with rain the whole time.

4) Put the Christmas tree up this afternoon. I've still to finish the rest of the decorations so will do that tomorrow.

5) I did some baking while the oven was on for dinner. White chocolate and cherry rock buns - my favourite.

Goodnight xx

Pleasures for today (Sunday).

1) A lie in!

2) Caught most of the Archers again. Had about 2 years off and now I find all the young men have the same voice!

3) Had to stop listening to the Archers when there was a horrible shuddering, scraping noise outside the window with the familiar thump then silence. A motorcyclist had somehow tipped his bike up and skidded along the tarmac from just below our house, right past it then gone into the kerb/pavement. There were 3 other bikers with him so I spoke to one through the window and he was OK and they didn't need me to phone anyone or do anything. He got up quite quickly then they took a panel off the bike, straightened something out, had a little chat then drove on.

4) Went down to the hens and did over an hour of digging. It's actually coming on quite well now. Also filled in the deep fissures in the hen pen which opened up during the long heatwave (was fed up of tripping up in them!) Hens had plenty of worms.

5) Ran out of money on Weds so no food until next Tuesday. This makes catering very interesting (no bread or milk for last 2 days). Plenty of tins left but not always the combinations you would like! Anyway, lunch was 2 tins of tomato soup then I made some muffins with the remains of the cheese and some yoghurt. They proved very popular!

6) My brother brought us some bits from the depths of his freezer yesterday so we had brisket for tea which was also surprisingly good.

7) Brother popped in for 2 games of Settlers of Catan.

8) Watched I'm a Celebrity.

Haven't done half the housework/DIY jobs I intended today so will try and get a good run at them tomorrow while bigger son is working at the garage and smaller son is at school (mock GCSEs from tomorrow).

Sunday pleasures,

Up early and out with little dog, picked up a pair of eyes in my torch beam, made me jump and not sure what it was!

A mama blackbird having a bath, the day was surprisingly mild.

Caught up on all things Ambridge.

Followed by Tom Kerridge on DID, good song choices and refreshing honesty.

Emotive service at the hospice that cared for DM.

Popped round to see DB afterwards, lovely catch up.

Thankyou Lainey - mia+Fenny notspot.
Further, altho' Mse via mob. is now restored, desktop now bans &. No time presently to go through weeks of mse no-fix palaver again.

1. Ditto, with all who loved vast full moon.

2. Managed a 'get rid' night: 25 Lots at little local auction. Meant petrol+Spits outgoings way more than covered. Just as well. Need £120 to break even@Spits....but, from nil frontage+mucked about stand, didn't even manage that. Impossible. Absolute pits. &squat regained just on 2am, so 24hr day for long pain+no gain. 1st time ever like this. Worst possible Spits scenario is theft+breakage+nil sold: last Thursday came close.

3. Did not bank minimal takings. Held over for 2 Churches' fundraisers, Fri pm(tutoring cancelled) and Sat.
Glad I did so. Studio pottery interestings x 12!!!
On verra.
Also, 6 unused vintage linen teatowels, always saleable.
(umpty times, wretched autocorrect keeps changing 'teatowels' to 'testosterone'. Answers on a postcard.) Saturday's annual fundraiser is always what & calls 'good cause-expensive' and & adjusts mindset accordingly. Some little pieces bought.
Good free mulled wine enjoyed :-) Good cause definitely - Mugumu Safe House. Had to leave for....

4. Club rugby, support being urged for our 1st XV, without a win this season. So tough, when so near so often - which does not count.
And unchanged at the end of Saturday's 80 minutes. We dropped a division last season and are gorilla glued to the bottom again! Lovely Nigel Owen's impervious refereeing decisions are not present for our matches these days. Ah well, cathartic scream and shout does good, or does it? We do our best from stands. & is not alone in thinking huge ERFU all-weather pitch+associated investment has brought sthg of poisoned chalice with it. But &is loyal where principle holds sway.

5. Church X 3 yday, thuswise. Made point of attending a baptism, having learnt many 'regulars' avoid. Why? What sort of new life welcome is that? So glad, as little person is 1st-born of celebrant's 1st wedding service. Sadly, we are losing her to a v. lucky Devon benefice - her 1st appt: their Team Vicar. Next, HC, particularly thoughtful address.
Then, a joined-up village praise, readings thing, which - with big sing welly - was good for soul.

Now, help needed:-)
Evil, Infuriating board game required for crimbo.
Last year's Pass The Bomb was brilliant.
Suggestions DEMANDED, with a Please:-)
Have looked at Catan, Frith, but don't understand if a basic set offers challenge+fun, or needs expensive more.
What say you?
REALLY need a Pass The Bomb equal+.

Good Morning,

& Welcome back!

I have succumbed to 'the cold' and have retreated to the sofa with honey and lemon and paracetamol. :(

Saturday

1. Christmas tree decorated in red and gold.

2. Full English breakfast.

3. Made mince pies and flapjacks. Left them in too long. They don't look good, but still taste nice :D

4. Fish and Chips for tea.

5. Christmas with the Cranks......Christmas has started :j .......Not everyone's choice of Christmas film, but it is a family tradition since we watched it at a drive-in movie in tropical heat in Barbados about 15 years ago!

Sunday

1. Boiled eggs and soldiers. Just what was needed, as I woke up with the cold. :(

2. Outdoor crafts at local nature reserve. Unfortunately, brain not working, so spent most of the time watching others.

3. Lidl with a voucher. (Not as good as yours Mhags!).

4. Roast dinner.

5. Early night after binge watching George Clarke programmes. Really should have done that before we started our building project. :o

Suppose my name is mud at work, for having a day off.....ho hum. :(

Have a lovely day :)
