1) It's the 1st of December and Advent, so enjoy opening the windows on my tiny calendar!
2) Pictures of those Grandpickles opening their Advent calendars and Zebra has a HUGE smile, lovely!
3) Rugby this afternoon, The Messiah in the Cathedral this evening and then it really can be the start of real Christmastime.
4) We had Ruby dog staying for a couple of days, she went home late yesterday afternoon and it was a real pleasure. She's so much fun and I'm absolutely amazed at the amount of fun you can have with a terrier and a squeaky cabbage toy!
5) We've just found the offer of the year in the local free magazine we get through the door, one enterprising local farmer is selling Christmas trees and advertising 2 x free swedes with each tree purchased.....a first perhaps???0 -
been nursing my cold all day :-(
1) finding a recipe for paprika soup. think i'll add a tin of tomatoes next time, but will make again
2) baked all the 1/2 bake baguettes and put in freezer for this week's lunches
3) friend lent me Gavin and Stacey as had never seen it. Have been binge-watching and dozing
4) orange squash with a slug of whisky
5) hmm 5 is hard when all you've done all day is sneeze. So the 5th will have to be that i don't normally feel this ill!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

DD - hope you feel better soon. My sister introduced me to G and S (years after screening). If you haven't seen Bryn organise Gwen's party yet, look out for that episode. :-D
I forgot a pleasure from yesterday. There was one of those FB "like and share" things to enter a competition at our little local cinema. I won! So we've got 2 free tickets to go next Friday. I've asked them to put me by a 3rd ticket (which I shall pay for) as I thought it was only fair that we all went!
Pleasures for today (Saturday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Neighbours from 2 uphill popped round to check on bigger son (which was nice of her, as we only see her a few times a year). She let out some choice words about the motorbike thieves then said he can come and do some handyman jobs for her over the winter and earn some money.
3) Another stocking filler arrived in the post.
4) Bigger son went to work and said that went OK.
5) I spent 1.5 hours on the allotment (only slight rain) digging, helped by the hens. They had lots of worms, I have pretty much cleared the massive bed and I transplanted some rogue raspberry plants to by the fence. 2 eggs today.
6) Swept and tidied in the garden. The new gravel is annoying because you have to pick up each fallen leaf individually by hand!
7) Painted the new plaster above the door (first proper coat of paint).
8) My brother came round bearing food so we will be having brisket tomorrow.
9) Pretty much up to date with cleaning, washing etc so have been catching up on TV.
10) Looking forward to I'm a Celebrity later then will watch Casualty in bed. Already got 1hwb on the go even though I am only on the sofa!0 -
Hi, my five for today are;
1) Wrote some Christmas cards and will finish the rest tomorrow.
2) Friend came for several hours while we organised and planned things for our trip to New York next Saturday.
3) We had a nice lunch of cheese and smoked ham toasties then peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies I had made for taking to grandkids on Thursday.
4) Friend helped me get the Christmas tree down from the loft. Putting Christmas decorations up tomorrow which is a bit early for me but want it all done before the holiday.
5) I've had a nice quiet night watching tv and knitting - also had my usual drambuie but unfortunately no crisps left.
Looking forward to tomorrow putting decorations up with Christmas music playing in the background xxDebt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

Saturday pleasures,
A lie-in and a very leisurely breakfast.
Made a new to me cake recipe, grape and almond loaf, very nice even if I was a little short on the grapes due to ahem constant picking.
Picked up some carrots for equine girlie, good chat with yard owner and time spent with pony.
Popped into farmshop, didn’t realise it was Xmas tree delivery day and was rammed, not convinced they will all last until the big day but folks seem to be starting earlier nowadays.
Picked up some snorkers but cba doing a big meal so just had them in a sandwich, delicious.0 -
Good morning. I think I've had as much sleep as I'm going to get.
Waaaah! To working for a living, a gap year was so much better!
More of the same today. And because I'm new and because I'm going away on Thursday my hours have all been crammed together in a six day run and on a backshift so I can learn how to close. Waaaah!
So I think prior to work I put up the tall skinny tree in the extension. Having to re-screw the plug sockets the plasterer had left wide open.
Had a very quick doggy walk.
Work was okay. 'Do you think you'll enjoy it here?' ...enjoy might be taking it too far! But it's a for now job.
Home! It's at the totally opposite end of town so I feel like I'm driving for ever but I think I got some green traffic lights on the way home! It was 7.30pm
Took doggy another quick walk but through our wee estate so I could have a nosy at Christmas lights! Messaged my friend as I could hardly see her house from the glare of her next door neighbour!
Then had to drop DD2 off out. First time she's been out since her drinks were spiked at Halloween. She was hiccuping very loudly at 4am. But I've just checked and apart from the room smelling like a brewery seems okay!
Then I came home and I sat down! And the dog wanted to play. And I just wanted a cuddle. So we compromised.
So I think under normal conditions there will be a better work/life balance of shifts. Just me squeezing in a weeks holiday! Then when I come back mid week I need to squeeze them all in again. Sigh.
Right! Onwards. It's Sunday. I'm going to nip down to Lidl and use my last voucher which expires today. Going to try and be savvy and put through 2 loads. Then it will be work time.
Have a good day0 -
No posting from me for a couple of days - it's been another busy week ..................
5 for Friday -
1. Good night's sleep and a bit of a lie-in :j.
2. Went to CS to volunteer to help prepare the shop for our 'Christmas Cracker Event' - involves removing most of the 'regular rails of clothes' and replace them with some extra small tables for customers to sit at while enjoying their tea/coffee mince pies - all covered with festive table clothes and looking pretty. Lots of Christmas Sweaters / Party-style frocks / glitzy tops / onesies / cosy slippers / other Christmas paraphernalia put out for sale. Wrapping bars of Fair Trade Chocolate for Santa to give out to children having their photos taken. Very busy and happy afternoon - followed by quick visit to A$DA - bought 'Curry Meal for 2' for us for evening meal. Texted DDiL to ask if they would like me to take DGS5 off them for tomorrow for Santa's visit.
3. Visit from DS1 with DGS3. They brought me a Marmalade/Jam Advent Calendar :T and a couple of DVD's that they bought me at a Car Boot Sale (Jesus of Nazareth - Robert Powell version & Cliff Richard and Shadows Reunion) - not had chance to watch them yet.
4. Emmerdale and Coronation Street x 2 with feet up :j.
5. Collapsed into bed exhausted and 'went out like a light'!
5 for Saturday: -
1. Although I dropped off to sleep easily, I didn't manage to sleep right through the night. Found myself reading at 3.00am 'to tire my eyes out'
.
2. Got up around 7.00am - opened my Day1 on Advent Calendar to find Strawberry Jam waiting for my toast today :j.
3. DDiL arrived at 10.30am with DGS5 (The Bobster) and then gave us a lift to the CS to save bothering with buses etc. 10.45am - Carol Singing around the Christmas Tree in our local shopping centre :j. Some people did come and join in with us, but most just stared as it was only 1st Dec.
4. Santa arrived around 11.10am - Bobster was a bit more confident this week and quite happy to have his photo taken with him. He had a great time looking at all the musical/dancing Christmas Toys and we came away with a Singing Snowman and a Dancing/Singing Penguin (2nd hand - Total cost of £5.50) and 3 DVD's for £1). Lunch at Maccy's where Bobster got a colouring sheet / crayons / balloons / Fish Finger Happy Meal. Back to CS afterwards with a sleeping Bobster - phew! Managed to relax with Coffee and a GF Biscuit.
5. Met DDiL in A$DA for a cuppa and got tubes of A$DA Protect Toothpaste for 20p per tube - couldn't walk past them at that price - got 5 (£1) :j.
6. Home to Spicy Actifry Chips with Pizza (half of a G/F one for me and ordinary for OH) for evening meal - totally exhausted!0 -
Need to start posting again to focus on positives.
1. On holiday and it's warm and sunny.
2. Food and drink have been good.
3. Met and spoken to some lovely peopke.
4. Lots of swimming in the sea and pool.
5. Time with DH.0
